NOTES: Charles SPIELMANN first came to the US to be with one of his older brothers, in Wisconsin, he had to return to Germany to serve his mandatory military service to protect the remaining members of his family who were still living in Germany. Then Charles and his younger sister, Julia SPIELMANN came back to the US and settled in Wisconsin, then in Illinois. Charles and his wife, Minnie, came to La Veta with their three older children. He owned and operated the La Veta Flour Mill and was a rancher in La Veta for many years. Charles and Minnie SPIELMANN are buried in the La Veta Masonic Cemetery.

NOTES: Minnie KRUEGER SPIELMANN came to the US with her parents when she was a little girl. Her mother's maiden name was spelled WITHOUT the 'eu" in the name. Her parents were from two completely different families.

NOTES: Minnie is buried in the La Veta cemetery in the same lot as her first husband, Orace Byrd Beamer. She married Henry R. Carson after her first husband's untimely death. He was killed in a farm accident at La Veta. The marriage with Charles Richardson was either an annulment or divorce. She had her Carson surname restored by the Huerfano County Court.
