Gasper Vigil - Pueblo Chieftain - April 07, 2005 - Gasper Vigil, 94, born May 9, l910, passed away April 3, 2005. Mr. Vigil served in the U.S. Army during World War II, retired from the former Pueblo Army Depot. He enjoyed visiting and reading to his great-grandchildren Mikey, Esteban and Nevaeh, who lived with him and were the source of his strength. Preceded in death by his parents, Donisio and Vicenta (Vallejos) Vigil; beloved wife, Delfina Sierra Vigil. Survived by his children, Diana (Steve) Garcia, Robert (Adeline) Shanklin, Lucy Grant, Dorothy (Joe) Bobian; 22 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 40 great-great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-great-grandchildren; also, former daughter -in-law, Annie Lucero; and former son-in-law Jerry Maes; numerous nieces and nephews. At Mr. Vigil's request, cremation. Memorial Mass, 11 a.m. Saturday, St. Leander Catholic Church with the Rev. Ben Bacino as celebrant. Inurnment, Fort Logan National Cemetery. Vigil, Gerald G.
Gerald G. Vigil - Huerfano World - September 19, 2008 - Gerald G. Vigil, 56, of Pueblo, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 8, 2008. Preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Cordelia Vigil; and infant sister, Katherine Vigil. Survived by his sister, Karen Vigil; special friends Carmen Gamez, Rex (Mollye) Graber, Gerald (Erin) Jerant, Fred (Pat) Eccher and John (Claudette) Geiser; and numerous other family and friends. Gerald was both a free spirit and a devoted family member and friend. He loved a broad spectrum of music, the mountains and the oceans, driving and working on cars, and had a special passion for Ford Mustangs. In addition to holding a real estate license, he also was a skilled craftsman, working with his father to build his parents' last Walsenburg home. He and his father worked together on many business projects, and Gerald also helped his family run their motels and restaurant in Walsenburg in earlier years. He also eagerly helped his sister and numerous others when they needed help fixing something at their homes, or help repairing their vehicles. He was dependable and always enjoyed being able to help when he was needed. He worked for the Colorado Department of Corrections for 13 years. He considered his co-workers as family. The funeral service was held last week at Romero Chapel in Pueblo.

Mrs. Vigil was born on Dec. 9, 1954 in Walsenburg to Amado and Maria Elidia Bolero Garcia. Mrs. Vigil, a member of St. Mary Church, is survived by her husband, Claude R. Vigil; mother, Maria Elidia Garcia; children, Melanie (Mike) Medina, Walsenburg, Claude (J.C.) Vigil, Richard (Christina) Vigil, La Veta, and Nicholas Vigil; brothers and sisters, Amadito (Alice) Garcia, Viola (Bernie) Atencio, Walsenburg, Ernest Garcia, Pueblo, Juanita (Wally) Jackson, Phyllis (Emilio) Quintana, Margaret (Filbert) De Herrera and Ernest, (Kelly) Garcia Jr., Walsenburg; five granddaughters, numerous nieces and nephews. Gilbert L. Vigil - Pueblo Chieftain - January 09, 2004 - Gilbert L. Vigil, 67, of Pueblo. Went home to be with the Lord Jan. 7, 2004. Born Feb. 9, 1936. Preceded in death by his father, Max E. Vigil; mother, Beatrice Vigil; stepmother, Margaret “Maggie” Vigil; brother, Leo W. Vigil; brother-in-law, Joseph Cortinas; nephew, Eugene Vigil. Survived by his sister, Alice Vigil; brother, Joe M. Vigil; also survived by numerous cousins, aunt, and other relatives. Gilbert was in the U.S. Army Special Services in 1954, 1956, and received an honorable discharge. Cremation has taken place. Grace was born in Ojo Feliz, N.M. on April 24, 1913. She was preceded in death by husband, Apolonio “Chubby” Vigil and daughters, infant Zita and Molly Dolly Arellano. She is survived by daughters, Stella Vigil, Pueblo; Mary Lou (Ray) Martinez, Pueblo; Gloria Nickerson, Cerritos, Calif.; Marcella Lunford (Cat), Clute, Texas; Jean Hernandez, Ark.; Jana Vigil, Albuquerque; sons, Larry Vigil, Paonia, Colo.; Arthur (Dora) Vigil, Raton, N.M.; 32 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Ida A. Vigil - Pueblo Chieftain - April 08, 2005 - Ida A. Vigil, 70, born Aug. 19, 1934, went to be with the Lord on April 6, 2005. Preceded in death by her infant son, Amos; and sister, Delores Olivia. Survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Amos J. Vigil; mother, Maclovia Atz; brother, Ernest (JoAnn) Valdez; children, Patty (Gilbert) Archuleta, Amy (Peter) Romero; grandchildren, Jason (Angelia) Archuleta, Robert Archuleta, Amber Romero, Marcie Richardson; great-grandchildren, Ralph (Quinn) I Richardson, Benicio Archuleta, Maclovia (Chloe) Richardson; goddaughter, Marlene Cordova; nephews, Eric Valdez and Brent Valdez; niece and goddaughter, Nicole Valdez; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including very special friends, Alfred and Ellen Maldonado. Ida was an operating tech at Parkview Hospital for 23 years and also worked for CMHH from 1986 through 1993 until her retirement. She loved fishing, camping and reading. Ida was a hard worker, loyal, dependable and loved her job. Memorial service, 10 a.m. Saturday, Holy Family Church. Family will receive friends at the church hall after the service. Isabel Vigil - Huerfano World - October 18, 2007 - Isabel Vigil, 72, died Friday, October 12, 2007, at her home in Walsenburg after a short illness. Mrs. Vigil was born in Walsenburg on June 5, 1935. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and a special friend to so many who knew her. Her first love was her family, especially the once-a-month Sunday dinners. She was also very athletic. She enjoyed playing volleyball, bowling and softball, In fact, just two years ago, Isabel and her daughter threw a double play in softball. She especially enjoyed watching her grand kids play sports. Mrs. Vigil was preceded in death by her son, Pete, just 19 months ago. Also her parents, Gil and Eva Vigil; brothers, Vince, Gil, and Albert; sisters, Mercy and Viola. She is survived by her loving husband, Tino; sons and daughter Gilbert (Chris) Pedraza, Anthony Vigil, Bernadette (David) Vigil, John Vigil, Ray (Rhonda) Vigil, Michael (Sandy) Vigil, Phillip (Amy) Vigil; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann, 24 grand kids, 14 great-grand kids; 4 sisters, Bernice, Theresa, Gloria and Jenny; two brother, Art and Bernard; special nephew, Anthony (Ginger) Martinez; a special part of the family, Nancy (Pete) Ross; numerous nieces and nephews. Isidoro Vigil - Pueblo Chieftain - May 27, 1986 - Isidoro Vigil, 100, late of 120 Marian Drive, died May 25, 1986. Mr. Vigil lived in Pueblo and California and was formerly of Las Vegas, N.M. He is survived by 13 children, Juan (Delia) Vigil of 120 Marian Drive in Pueblo, Secundino (Margaret)Vigil of Las Vegas, Eusebio (Edith) Vigil of California, Isidoro (Martha) Vigil of Granada, Mercedes Roybal of Cheyenne, Wyo., Sarah (Lawrence) Dossett of Texas, Elenor (Alfonso) Allemand of Texas, Patsy Rodberg of California, Mary (Don) Strain of Seattle, Roberto Maestas of Seattle, Frank Vigil of Albuquerque, Mary Ann (John) Aragon and Daniel Vigil, both of California. Six generations of grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Service, 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rivera Chapel, the Rev. Steve Gallaway, and Roger Trujillo officiating. J. U. Vigil – Bayfield Blade – June 18, 1915 – J. U. Vigil, for the past two years postmaster of Trinidad, and for more than twenty-five years a leader of the Democratic party in Las Animas county, died of pneumonia.

Born May 25, 1907 in North Veta, he is survived by his children, Jose "Bennie" Vigil, Pueblo, Robert Vigil, Vallejo, CA, Anthony Vigil, Stockton, CA and Sophia Franco, Nevada; brothers, Alfred Vigil, Denver and Bernie Vigil, Oakland, CA; sisters, Grace Jaramillo, Pueblo and Rose Castro, Callusa, CA; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Vigil was a member of St. Mary Church in Pueblo and the CIO at CF&I. Funeral mass was Tuesday and commendation service was Wednesday from St. Mary. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.

Vigil, Jennie
Jennie Vigil - Greeley Tribune - June 14, 2006 - Jennie Vigil, 87, died June 11, 2006. Jennie Vigil was born in Aguilar to Felix and Maclovia (Martinez) Duran. She attended school in Pitkin and took continuing education classes at Aims Community College in Greeley. On July 15, 1934, she married Joe C. Vigil in Gunnison. They lived in various mountain communities and started an eastward trek. They lived on the Historic Lohr Farm in Longmont. Mrs. Vigil is featured in the history of the Boulder County Agriculture Museum, which is a tribute to her great interest in history and, in particular, her interest in genealogical history. She was a direct descendent of a Centennial settler of Colorado. Mrs. Vigil was an avid reader and instilled her love of reading in her children. She served as an election judge , was a member of RSVP and was a longtime resident of the Birchwood Apartments. She was a part of the regular routine of assembling puzzles and playing bingo. Mrs. Vigil especially enjoyed playing Scrabble with family members. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting afghans, and was a devout member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She died Sunday at her home in Greeley. Survivors: Her daughters, Shirley Trevino of Greeley, Ramona Moreno and Leonora Bocock and husband Glenn, all of Greeley, Angela Apodaca and husband Manuel, Juanita Guy and husband Ed and Anita Casynn and husband John, all of Longmont, and Dolores Young and husband David of Parker; her sons, Henry Vigil and wife Lillian of Cohutta, Ga., Roger Vigil and wife Patricia and Antonio Vigil, all of Greeley; her sisters, Dolly Holland and Lucy Chaney, both of Pueblo; 42 grandchildren, 94 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: Her parents; her husband, Joe; a son, Pete; two daughters, Roberta and June; one grandson, Christopher Vigil; three brothers, Gilbert, Serafine and Dennis; and two sisters, Mary and Felicita. Services: Recitation of the Rosary, 7 p.m. today and Mass of Christian Burial, noon Thursday, both at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2222 23rd Ave., Greeley. Jesse A. Vigil - Pueblo Chieftain - April 11, 2001 - Jesse A. Vigil, 33, went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2001. Born March 7, 1968, in Pueblo, Colo. Preceeded in death by his sister, Ruby A. Medina; father, Jose R. Vigil. He is survived by loving wife of 14 years, Isabel Valle; mother, Mabel D. Vigil; siblings, Ralph Vigil, Roseann (Ralph) Mendoza, Bernadette Vigil, Roger (Irene) Vigil, Robert (Linda) Vigil, Mabel L. Vigil and Anthony (Irene) Medina, all of Pueblo. Also survived by Isabel's children, Maxine Duran, Sonya (Mike) Vigil, Nicole Valle, Ben Valle; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him, but will never be forgotten in our hearts. May he rest in peace. Joan Carol (Quintana) Vigil - Pueblo Chieftain - July 11, 2001 - Joan Carol (Quintana) Vigil, 61, lifetime Pueblo resident, departed this life July 10, 2001. Born on Feb. 1, 1940, she was a licensed beautician before her health failed. She graduated from Central High School in 1958. She attended PCC and was an avid sports fan. Preceded in death by her father, Tony Quintana; brother, Joseph Anthony; aunt, Tomasita Cordova. Survived by her mother, Caroline Sandoval Quintana; children, April (Todd Barlow) Vigil, Charles Vigil; grandchildren, Darian Garcia, Charley and Estevan Vigil, Steven (Bubba) Kimler; best friend, Pat Smith; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive. Joe D. G. Vigil - Huerfano World - January 29, 1998 - Joe D. G. Vigil, 91, of Walsenburg, died Jan. 21, 1998 in Huerfano Medical Center. Born Feb. 25, 1906 in Rouse to Felix D. J. and Eulalia Bustos Vigil, he worked for over 50 years with the DR&GW Railroad. He married Josephine Jacquez Jan. 6, 1934. Mr. Vigil is survived by his wife, Josephine, Walsenburg; a daughter, Odelia Pons, Walsenburg; a son Arthur Vigil, Denver; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters. Born Sept. 7, 1918, in Laguna, Colo., to Antonio and Onofre Vigil, who preceded him, along with a daughter, Jenny; sister, Sadie Pacheco; brother, Eloy Vigil; and special nephew, Fernando Vigil Sr. Survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Cora Vigil; daughters, Gerry (Larry) Vigil, Sylvia (Tony) Montoya, Anita "Neeter" Mayoral, Rosie (Fred) Temeyosa, Pauline (Mark) Veniegas, Linda Temeyosa; and son, Joe J. Vigil; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; also survived by brother, Anthony (Isabel) Vigil; sisters, Ercie (Bill) Frias, Zella Garbiso, and Grace Montoya; brother-in-law, Louis DeHerrera; very special nephew, Arnold Vigil; and nieces, Priscilla Sanchez, Esther Vigil and Tina Gonzales; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and godchildren. Joe was a highly decorated WWII veteran who also was awarded the Purple Heart, amongst other medals of honor. Joe retired from the Pueblo Army Depot with 32 years of service. Joe S. Vigil - Pueblo Chieftain - September 20, 2000 - Joe S. Vigil passed away Sept. 17, 2000, in Pueblo. Joe was born Oct. 26, 1911, in Walsenburg and has lived in this area his entire life. Joe had a successful career spanning several decades as a professional boxer, and after his retirement from the ring used his knowledge and experience to train young boxers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melinda, in 1993. His survivors include his daughter, Sadie (Charlie) Tresick; son, Dwayne Vigil; stepsons, Charlie and Joe Vigil; as well as six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today in the Davis Memorial Chapel, with cremation to follow in the Davis Crematory. Interment of the cremated remains will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday in St. Mary's Cemetery in Walsenburg.

Graveside service will be held at South St. Mary Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. He is survived by three sons, two daughters and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joe V. Vigil - Pueblo Chieftain - February 17, 2010 - Joe V. Vigil, 65, passed away Feb. 8, 2010. Born in Trinidad, Colo. Preceded in death by brothers, Charles and Joe Dominguez; nephews, Jeff McCafferty, Tom Perri. He is survived by son, Ronald; daughter, Yvette; and two grandchildren; siblings, Nora Perri, Mary Watkins, Alice Waechter and Jim Herrera; numerous nieces and nephews; special great-nieces, Alissa and Linsey; loving cousin, Joe Spahr; and many loving friends. He was a member of Praise Assembly Church, was very generous, supported his church and many ministries. He served in the Marine Corps four years with an honorable discharge. Service, 1 p.m. Feb. 18, 2010, Praise Assembly, with military honors to follow indoors. At Joe's request, a private inurnment will be at his family's ranch in Trinchera Pass, where he learned the values of life, integrity and doing good to all mankind.

John Vigil - Walsenburg World - April 18, 1922 - Military Funeral For Deceased Soldier - Military Funeral For John Vigil Next Sunday At 2 p.m. - The body of Private John Vigil will arrive in the city on Thursday evening at 6:20 and will be met by a military escort of the American Legion. The body will then be taken to the home of his parents in La Veta where it will remain until Sunday morning when it will be brought back to Walsenburg and will lie in state at the court house from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. Military services will be held at the court house and also at the grave by the local Post of the American Legion. Legion members in La Veta will meet the body there Thursday evening and escort it to the home, and will also act as escort back to Walsenburg on Sunday. Private John Vigil is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Damacio Vigil of La Veta. John was born in Huerfano county 23 years ago. He attended the public schools in Walsenburg and grew to manhood in the vicinity. He attended college for two years in Albuquerque, New Mexico. When his country called he responded willingly and enlisted in the United States Army in August 1917. After a very short stay in training camps in this country he sailed for France and saw quite a bit of action. It was during some of the thickest of the fighting that Private Vigil was killed in action. He was a brave soldier and willingly gave his life for his country. He was a fine Christian lad and was beloved by all who knew him. He is survived by two brothers, Alfredo and Damacio Jr., and four sisters, Mrs. Claude Swift, Mrs. Carl Swift, Mrs. Manuel Rivers and Miss Emile Vigil. He served in the U.S. Army, retired from CF&I Steel Corp. after 28 years of service, then retired from the State of Colorado Military Affairs in 2002. Born August 8, 1916 in Gardner to Victor and Florinda Barela Vigil, he was in World War II veteran and had lived in the Walsenburg area for the past three years. Survivors include his children Joe A. Vigil, Tucson, AZ, Rose Vigil Medina, Pueblo, Marti Young, Tucson, AZ; a sister, Laura Romero, Pueblo; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorial service was held Friday from Boies-Ortega Memorial Chapel. The Fort Carson burial team and Fr. Mark Bettinger officiated. Cremation.

Jose Ramon Vigil - Huerfano World - January 4, 1990 - Jose Ramon (Ray) Vigil, 58, Walsenburg, died at his home Jan. 1, 1990. Born on the family ranch in Sand Arroyo Apr. 5, 1931, the son of Ramundo and Teresina Vigil, he attended school at Sand Arroyo County School and for several years after worked on the family ranch. During the early 1950's he went to Pueblo and Colorado Springs where he worked for Alpha Beta Meat Co. and at various other jobs. He returned to Walsenburg in 1964 where he had lived since. Survivors include his children, Ramon Vigil and Matthew Mejia, Pueblo; brothers and sisters, Caroline Martinez, Jerry Vigil, Bernice Garcia, Ida Mae Martin, Jim Vigil, Manuel Vigil and Dorothy Vallejos, all of Walsenburg; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Immediate burial was in Sand Arroyo Cemetery on Wednesday morning. Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday (tonight) at the Apostolic Assembly Church. J.M. Antle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Preceded in death by his sister, Bertina Espinoza. Mr. Vigil was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII. He retired from the PAD in 1972. Jose Vicente Vigil - Huerfano World - December 10, 1959 - Jose Vicente Vigil Funeral services for Vigil, which was arranged by the Furphy Mortuary, were held this morning (Thursday) at St. Mary Church. Burial was in the old St. Mary Cemetery. The accident victim was a native of Conejos where he was born on April 1, 1868. He came to Huerfano County in 1872 at the age of four when approximately 25 families made the move to take advantage of the relatively mild climate and the longer growing season. In 1890, he was married to the former Guadalupe Gonzales of Trinidad who died some years ago. However, he is survived by two sons, Gil Vigil, Walsenburg, and August Vigil, Denver; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph Valdez, San Lorenzo, Calif., and Mrs. Mary Gonzales and Mrs. Louis Ortega, both of Denver; a grandson, Julian Atencio, U.S. Air Force, Savannah, Ga.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Alex Yerda, Denver; and numerous grandchild and great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Mary Church and the Sacred Heart Society. From 1904-1912, he was a county commissioner in Las Animas county but gave up the post because he was dissatisfied with the $5 a day pay. He then moved to Walsenburg to go into the sheep business.

Joseph S. Vigil - Huerfano World - October 28, 1976 - Mr. Joseph S. Vigil, 84, of Walsenburg, died Monday morning, Oct. 25, 1976, at Huerfano Memorial Hospital. Born in Higby Sept. 5, 1892, Mr. Vigil spent most of his life in Huerfano County. He retired from the Denver Rio Grande Railroad and then was a janitor for the school district in Walsenburg for 15 years. Survivors include two sons, Louis Vigil and David Vigil, both of Walsenburg; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His wife, Mrs. Reynalda Vigil, died Dec. 15, 1974. Services for Mr. Vigil were held at St. Mary's Church in Walsenburg. Wake service was conducted at 7p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, and Mass of Christian Burial was recited at 10 a.m., Wednesday. Burial followed at north St. Mary Cemetery. Boies Almont was in charge of arrangements.

Vigil, Josephine
Josephine Vigil - Huerfano World - November 19, 2001 - Josephine Vigil, 88, of Lakewood, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at a nursing home facility in Lakewood.   Mrs. Vigil was born on April 27, 1913 in Monticello, NM.  She was one of 10 children born to Anastacio and Silveria (Lucero) Jaquez.  The family moved to the Walsenburg area around 1925.  There, she lived until entering nursing care facilities in the Denver area in 1999.  She married Joe D. G. Vigil on Jan. 6, 1934 in Walsenburg.  The couple raised four sons and one daughter.  She was a homemaker who cared for her family in the family home.  She enjoyed crochet work, read a great deal, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.  She also loved to sing and she was always singing at the nursing home.  Mrs. Vigil is survived by a daughter, Odelia Pons of Denver, nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Memorial services were held at Darrell-Howe Mortuary in Lafayette on Nov. 21 at 1 p.m.   A reception was held at the Chapel following the services. Cremation took place in Lafayette.

He is survived by his children, Ralph Anthony Vigil, Ruben Mark Vigil of Sacramento, Calif., Rita Kay (Terry) Bishop, Rachel Mae (Duane) Gonzales and Ruby June (Tom) Alfaro of Denver- seven grandchildren- brothers, Louis (Annie) Vigil, Arthur (Lucy) Vigil and Dimas (Mary) Vigil- sisters, Mary (Dave) Romero, Josephine (Eloy) Romero, Charlotte Vigil and Rose (Rick) Ard- sisters-in-law, Agnes Tafoya and Priscilla Vigil- very special friends, Petra (Pat) Simental, and daughter, Rachel. Mr. Vigil is preceded in death by his wife, Santy Vigil, in 1989- parents, Frank and Ramona Vigil- and brothers, John and Steve Vigil. Justo was born July 16, 1936, in Villa Nueva, N.M., and served in the Army from 1954 until 1957 as a cook. He returned to be a chef in several local restaurants. He was a member of St. Leander, Nocturnal Adoration Society, St. Leander Bingo, DAV and Knights of Columbus. Viewing, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. today. Rosary, 7 p.m. today. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Friday. Lallo E. Vigil - Huerfano World - December 9, 1993 - Lallo E. Vigil, a former Walsenburg resident died November 30, 1993 in Pueblo where he had retired from the Pueblo Activity Depot as a track mechanic. Survivors include his children, Louis C. Vigil, Louise Martinez, Bob Vigil, Charlotte Madril, Richard Vigil, Ted Vigil, Emily Montez, all of Pueblo; Alfred Vigil and Everett Vigil, both of Colorado Springs; Cathy Espinosa, Denver; Betty Ruth Aragon, Commerce City; Joyce Apodaca, Alamosa and Frank Vigil, Jerome, ID; a sister, Laura Rael, two brothers, Raymond Vigil and Pamphilo Vigil; 35 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He was a member of Moose Lodge #994. Funeral mass was from Mt. Carmel Church. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery in Pueblo.

Born in Gardner, Colo., on Sept. 16, 1923, and resided in Pueblo, Colo. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Angie; his father, Felipe Vigil; and brother, Theodore Vigil. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Ana Vigil; children, Mary Ellen (Sam) Santistevan, Mike (Lori Flores) Rosales, Elizabeth (Perry) Smith Jr.; seven grandchildren, Sam, Kristina, Stephanie, Sasha, Antonio (Louise Tafoya), Audrey and Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Austin, Zoey, Taya, Adam and Sherise; brothers, Ray (Frances), Wilfred (Betty), Robert (Margaret), Bernard (Esther)and a sister, Mary (Bill) Hambric; numerous nephews, nieces and a host of friends. Lee was a Veteran of World War II and retired from the Army Depot. Viewing, Saturday, 2 to 5 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at St. Francis Xavier Church with Father Tom Hinni officiating. Martinez; adopted daughter, Mary Louise Vigil; brother, Eliseo (Lucy) Vigil; sisters, Melior Vigil, Prudence Medina, Amy (Manuel) Lucero and Betty Ann Montoya; grandchildren, Bridget (Eddie) Darnell, Albert A. Martinez, James Welsh, Jolyne Welsh and Tony Lee A. Vigil; great-grandchildren, Eddie Jr. and Lexi Darnell; and several nieces and nephews. His pastime hobby was playing the saxophone in a band. Lucy Vigil - Pueblo Chieftain - October 24, 1986 - Lucy Vigil, 65, passed away at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital, Oct. 22, 1986. Mrs. Vigil is survived by five children, Alice (Charles) Herrera of Denver; Julia Lopez of Boone; Anthony F. Vigil of O'Fallon, Ill. Katherine Jordan and James Vigil, both of Pueblo; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is survived also by four brothers, Lee (Virginia) Huerta, and John Huerta, both of Oakland, Calif.; Edward (Cora) Huerta and Percy (Caroline) Huerta, all of Vacaville, Calif.; Mrs. Vigil was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel S. Vigil, in 1982. She was born April 11, 1921, in Walsenburg. Mrs. Vigil moved to Pueblo 50 years ago. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Pueblo. Visitation hours from noon until 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Imperial Funeral Home. Rosary recitation will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at Holy Family Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at Holy Family Church with Father Jose Montoya officiating. Interment, Calvary, Imperial Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends at 1612 Brown, Pueblo, immediately following interment.
