Kristina Louise Valdez - Pueblo Chieftain - April 25, 1999 - Kristina Louise Valdez, 20, passed away April 22, 1999, at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital. A lifetime Pueblo resident, Kristina was born Aug. 24, 1978. She was currently a student at Pueblo Community College. During her young but brief life, Kristina served as an Altar person for Father Ervin Schmitt, in celebrating the Mass. She also played the piano and did ballerina dancing. She received a green belt in Tae Kwon Do. She loved life, and always had a kind word to say along with her beautiful smile. She was very close with her sister, Evelyn, who said Kristina was not only her sister, but also her best friend. She is survived by her beloved daughter of four months, Isabella Louise- her parents, Charles "CR" and Patricia Valdez, all of the family home- siblings, Charles Raymond Valdez Jr., Evelyn (Seth) Clayton- grandparents, Juan and Juanita Valdez, Henry and Evelyn Martinez- numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and two nieces, Chelsea and Candace. Preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Frances Martinez, Gregorio Martinez and Ramon Lopez. Visitation, noon until 5 p.m. today, Angelus Chapel. Funeral Mass, 1 p.m. Monday, Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church, Rev. Roger P. Dorcy celebrant. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens. The Valdez family will receive friends at the family home.
Lalo Valdez - Pueblo Chieftain - February 6, 1975 - Lalo Valdez, Pueblo resident past 29 years, passed away unexpectedly at his residence, 916 E. Second, Feb. 5, 1975. Retired employe, Pueblo Army Depot. Member, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. Survivors include five children, Mrs. Sofia Martinez and Mike Valdez, Rupert, Idaho, and Mrs. Bessie Rodriguez, Robert Valdez and Mrs. Florence Sanchez, all of Denver. Mr. Valdez was the brother of Mrs. Virginia Gomez, Denver; Mrs. Evelyn Garcia and Mrs. Ruth Martinez, Conejos, Colo.; Mrs. Margaret Ortega, Center, Colo., and Miss Rose Valdez, California. Leonidas J. Valdez - Walsenburg World - July 07, 2008 - Leonidas J. Valdez, 85, of Pueblo, formerly of Walsenburg, died July 5, 2008. Mr. Valdez worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Pueblo Army Depot, but was a cowboy at heart who loved hunting and fishing. He will be dearly loved and missed by his family: his loving wife of 67 years, Maria; two children, Rose (Robert) Segura, Richard (Ursinia) Valdez, Pueblo; four grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; a sister, Frances Martinez, N.M.; a brother, Max Valdez, Denver; numerous nieces and nephews. Lillian E. (Madrid) Valdez - Colorado Springs Gazette - August 5, 2007 - Lillian E. Valdez Jan 16, 1938 - July 31, 2007. In loving memory of wife, mother, and grandmother Lillian "Lil" E. Valdez (Madrid). Lil fought and lost her short but courageous battle with cancer on July 31, 2007. She was surrounded by her loving husband and family as she passed quietly. Lillian was born January 16, 1938 in Trinchera, Colorado to Lee and Nora (Maldonado) Madrid. She married Virgil Valdez on March 15, 1957 in Pueblo, Colorado. Lil is survived by her husband, Virgil; son, Kevin (Laurie) Valdez; granddaughters, Miranda and Dakota; daughter, Cheryl Valdez (and life partner Peggy Hodges); and God Daughter, Nicole Perry. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard (Mary) Madrid, Julian (Caroline) Madrid, Oliver (Joanne) Madrid, Donald (Justine) Madrid, Harold Madrid, Anthony Madrid, and Dennis (Trish) Madrid, all of Pueblo except Harold who lives in Colorado Springs; and sisters, Jean Fearhielley, Elaine (Toby) Leyba, Harriett (James) Gomez, Barbara (Anthony) Olguin, Nora Lee (Joe) Cassares, and Melva (Gravial) Vialpando all of Pueblo except for Melva who lives in Colorado Springs. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Lee and Nora Madrid of Pueblo. Lupe Valdez - Huerfano World - November 14, 2002 - Lupe Valdez, Dec. 21, 1933 to Oct. 22, 2002, son of now deceased Millie and Manuel Valdez, brother of Manuel Valdez, Rudy Valdez, David Valdez and Connie Mattern. Lupe was born in Walsenburg and lived here from 1933 to 1952, when he moved to California. Lupe passed away peacefully from the loving hands of his wife and four daughters into the loving hands of the Lord. His wife, Linda Valdez, and daughters, Marilyn Dulich, Loretta Valdez, Brenda Chilvers and Barbara Brisbin were at his side. Inurnment services took place at Glenn Abbey Cemetery, Bonita, CA.
Lydia Valdez Akron Weekly Pioneer Press July 10, 1903 Chavez and Ortiz, the two men who were arrested on the charge of murdering a Mexican woman, Lydia Valdez, have been bound over to the District Court at Trinidad without bail. The evidence is considered conclusive that they are the guilty parties, Chavez as the principal and Ortiz as accessory.

M. Salome "Sally" Valdez - Pueblo Chieftain - April 06, 2006 - M. Salome "Sally" Valdez, 88, longtime resident of Walsenburg, died April 4, 2006, at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheatridge, Colo. Valdez was born Feb. 14, 1918, in North Veta, Colo., to the late Armenio Pacheco and Telesfora Cruz Pacheco. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Nicolas Valdez Sr., in 1987; and two sons, Nick Valdez Jr., in 1990, and Gilbert R. Valdez in 1999. Her surviving children include stepson, Mike (Frances) Valdez, Colorado Springs, Ruth (Jim) Boze, Aurora, Hurby (Julie) Valdez, Idaho Springs, Norberto (Janice) Valdez, Fort Collins, Jeanette Valdez Bohon, Amissville, Va., Dennis (Janet) Valdez, Walsenburg, Florence (Russell) Romero, Lakewood, Elaine Valdez Prichard, Idaho Springs, and Edith Valdez Peters, Pueblo. She has 24 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by siblings, Ernesto Pacheco, Jose Evan Pacheco, Olivia Aragon and Ermelinda Valdez. Survived by brothers and sisters, Naborsita Vigil, Claude (Viola) Pacheco and Nettie Quintana, all of Walsenburg, Lucy Sanchez, Sarah Montoya, Katie Sanchez and Oris (Alice) Pacheco, all of Pueblo. She had many nephews and nieces. Sally was a kind and loving mother who loved to crochet, quilt and embroider projects to share with her children and grandchildren. Manuel D. Valdez - World Independent February 25, 1960 - Manuel D. Valdez Passes Away at 90 - Manuel D. (Chile) Valdez, passed away in Colorado Springs last Saturday at the home of a niece, Mrs. Della Farias. Formerly a Huerfano County resident, Mr. Valdez had been a watchman for the Colorado Fuel & Iron Corporation for a number of years. In addition to Mrs. Farias, his survivors include his mother-in-law and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Colorado Springs.

Manuel Sevino Valdez - Pueblo Chieftain - May 28, 2000 - Manuel Sevino Valdez, 85, Avondale resident, passed away May 25, 2000, in Boone. Born Nov. 26, 1914, in Arroyo Hondo, N.M. Mr. Valdez served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the East Indies, Southern Philippines, Luzon, Ryukyus. He received the following decorations: Expert Combat Infantryman Badge, Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart Medal for wounds received in combat. He retired from the Pueblo Army Depot. He was an usher for his church, member of American Legion Post 203, Disabled American Veterans lifetime member of Chapter 39. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed playing the banjo and guitar. To his family "Gramps " was the official babysitter for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Jose T. and Beatrice (Arellano) Valdez; his beloved wife, Odelia Martinez Valdez, Jan. 7, 1998; four brothers, Flavio, Fermin, Bert and Eddie Valdez; a sister, Amanda Mowery. He is survived by his children, Mary Ann (Alfonso) Maes, Pueblo, and Manuel M. Valdez, Avondale; siblings, Rose Herrera, Viola (Joe) Padilla, Frank Valdez and Theresa Ruiz; three sisters-in-law, Lilly, Ursla Fabiola Valdez; seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Juan) Mendoza, Shirley (Ruben) Casarez, Lynette (Robert) Ortegon, Bridget (Juan) Ramirez, Rudy Gonzales, Annette Maes and Fonzie Maes; 11 great-grandchildren; special friends, Soccoro Abeyta and Manuel Duran; and other relatives and friends. Margaret Valdez - Huerfano World - September 7, 1989 - Margaret Valdez, 75, of Walsenburg, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 1989, in the Hospice of St. John Hospital in Lakewood. Born Sept. 6, 1913, in Walsenburg to Frank and Isabel Vallejos Garcia, on Feb. 11, 1929, she married Pete Valdez. They lived on the family farm and in 1961 they moved to Walsenburg. Mrs. Valdez was a member of the Coronado Club and the Latino Americano Club. Mrs. Valdez is survived by three sons, Floyd Valdez, Denver, Charles E. Valdez, Copemish, MI, and Louis Valdez, Pueblo, a daughter, Suzanne O'Brien, Victorville, CA; two brothers, Silvano Garcia, California and Ben Garcia, Trinidad; two sisters, Sally Trent, Texas and Julia Delkemper, Indiana, 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. Thursday (today) from St. Mary Church. Burial will be in North St. Mary Cemetery. Boies Almont is in charge of arrangements.

Martin Lawrence Valdez - Pueblo Chieftain - December 30, 2002 - Martin Lawrence Valdez passed away Dec. 27, 2002, in Pueblo. Martin was born in Pueblo on Sept. 5, 1956. He was a 1975 graduate of Central High School and was employed at Columbian Elementary School for 22 years. Martin was a member of St. Leander Catholic Church and collected angels of all types. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Valdez; and father-in-law, Fred Lucero; and an aunt, Rose Pineda. Martin is survived by his wife, Gloria; children, Gina Valdez, Christina Valdez, Misty Valdez, Martin Valdez; his father, Joe Valdez; his pride and joy, granddaughter, Alysa Valdez; siblings, Hubert (Phyllis) Diamond, Hubert (Elaine) Valdez, Ron (Jenni) Valdez, Cathy (Mike) Mondragon, Tony (Joyce) Valdez, Chris Valdez, Susie Mondragon, Debbie Valdez and numerous nieces and nephews. Survived by Susie (Anselmo), Stephanie, Bonnie and Chachi Sanchez. Also survived by children Mary White, Pime (Sally) Valdez, Joe (Frances) Valdez, Esther Johnson, Anita Ryan, Mike Valdez, 54 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews. Mary enjoyed knitting, gardening, making us laugh and going to the SRDA. Her stories and memories will be passed on and never forgotten. She is survived by her children, Mary (Alejandro) Munoz, Judy Griego and Mark (Susan) Espinosa; son-in-law, Michael Griego; sister-in-law, Emily Valdez; brothers, John (Corrine) Valdez and Henry Maxwell; sisters, Dolores (Ned) Valdez, Dorothy (Juan) Lott, Agnes Lacrue (Jim Semizer) and Diane (Manuel) Valdez; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Mary Inez Valdez - Huerfano World - June 21, 1979 - Former Huerfano resident, Mary Inez Valdez, died June 11, 1979 in Chula Vista, CA, where she had lived for the past 25 years. A native of Walsenburg, she was 60 at the time of her death. Survivors include her husband, Mike, Chula Vista; two daughters, Jane Cushman, Alpine, CA, and Susan Musselman, Minnesota; a son, James, Chula Vista; father Antonio Cordova, Walsenburg; five sisters, including Connie Gray, Walsenburg and four brothers including, Lou Cordova Walsenburg and Ted Cordova, Steamboat Springs. Funeral services were held in Chula Vista on June 14 with burial in California.

Preceded in death by her parents, Epimenio and Amada Chacon; brothers, Jose and Amarante Chacon; and sister, Marcelina Martinez. Survived by her loving husband, Eduardo Valdez of the family home; sons, David (Sophie) Chacon, Taos, N.M., Phillip Valdez, of Pueblo; daughter, Barbara (Sonny) Pacheco, of Pueblo; brother, Manuel (Rafaelita) Chacon; and special nephews, Amarante Chacon Jr. and Roberto Chacon; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends. She had a loving heart, a big smile and a genuine love for family and friends. She enjoyed her spa visits at Captain Sam's. Viewing, 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Romero Chapel. Mary Lucy Valdez - Huerfano World - February 3, 1994 - Huerfano Mary Lucy Valdez, 74, of Red Wing died Jan. 27, 1994 in Life Care Center in Pueblo where she had been a patient the past two weeks. Born Dec. 10, 1919 in Pass Creek to Pionon and Emilia A. Martinez Archuleta, she lived all her life in Huerfano County attending school in Chama. She married Andrew Valdez Jan. 18, 1935. For a short time she worked for Shosky's Cafe in Walsenburg and at Gardner pre-school, but most of her life was dedicated to her family. Mrs. Valdez had been ill since 1991 and had been in Denver Medical Center before returning to the Pueblo Center. Survivors include four daughters, Irene Taylor, Rye, Elaine Perrino and Lorraine Vargas, both of Red Wing and Amy Hiles, Pueblo; two brothers, Fred Archuleta, Red Wing and Teofilo Archuleta, Pueblo; a sister, Mary Mueller, Wisconsin, 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Graveside service was Jan. 28 in Chama Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 25, 1931, in Segundo, Colo., a daughter of the late Mike and Lucy Cordova Armijo. Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband Paul Valdez. Mary also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristie; and brother, Ernest. She is survived by six children, Tina and Alan Generally, Paul and Rhonda Valdez, Gil and Carol Valdez, Esteban Valdez, John Valdez and Pat Mariano; nephew, Marvin Valdez, who she helped raise; 16 grandchildren, Zac, Phil, Bree, Jamie, Dale, Bonnie, Paul, Ricardo, Nikki, Saraha, Lindsey, Dreena, Tina, Pattie, Gypsy and Jason; great-grandchildren, Aaden, Kayla, Alyssa, Darrian, Marcus, Emilio, Tony, Ray, Rickie, Jenna, Isaiha, Jeremiah, Joey, Kenney, Dylan, Raven, Amber, Gabe, Ricardo, Patrick and Trinity; five sisters, Benina, Stella, Frances, Martha and Lucille; two brothers, Filbert and Mike; special friend, Mildred; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other friends and relatives. Mary was a member of St. Leander Catholic Church. She loved playing bingo and going "junking" to yard sales and thrift stores with her friends. She had many special friends and care givers at Belmont Lodge, where she lived the last 12 years of her life. Maximo J. "Max" Valdez - Pueblo Chieftain - January 28, 2000 - Age71, passed away Jan. 26, 2001, at his home in Capulin, Colo. Max was born Nov. 17, 1929, in Capulin, the son of Antonio Valdez and Eliza Maestas Valdez. Max was united in marriage to Filomena Muniz on Jan. 5, 1948. He was a member of the St. Joseph Parish, a former Parish Council member. He worked for 26 years with the La Jara Trading Post and seven years with the Conejos Lumber Co. and was a self-employed rancher and farmer in the Capulin area. The hobbies Max enjoyed were growing a vegetable garden, going to the mountains, gathering wood, spoiling his grandchildren and especially spending time with his family. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Filomena Valdez of the family home; five daughters, Lucy (Ben) Brown of Denver, Colo., Bernadette Valdez of Capulin, Barbara Chavez of Denver, Mary Gonzales of Alamosa, Colo., and Anna (Kenneth) Salazar of Los Sauses, Colo.; three sons, Father Patrick Valdez of San Luis, Colo., Lionel (Michelle) Valdez of Capulin,, and Andrew Valdez of the Sand Dunes National Monument, Colo.; nine grandchildren; five sisters, Louise (Isidore) Muniz of La Jara, Colo., Viola (Arthur) Sandoval of La Jara, Dolores Trujillo of La Jara, Lela (Phil) Archuleta of Capulin, and Helen (Henry) Pacheco of Oklahoma; four brothers, Rubel Valdez, Joe L. (Diane) Valdez, Frank Valdez and Pete Valdez, all of La Jara. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Max was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Rachel Gonzales; and one aunt, Margarita Maestas. Romanda Celia Valdez - Pueblo Chieftain - December 11, 1986 - Romanda Celia Valdez, 312 Jane St., Avondale, affectionately known as "Sally," departed this life Dec. 8, 1986, at her home. A Pueblo resident since 1952, she was born Jan. 8, 1929, in Redwing. Preceded in death by her husband, Armando Valdez, in 1985, and brother, Anselmo Rivera, in 1979. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Avondale. Survived by her children, Ellas (Joan) Valdez, Gerald Valdez, both of Pueblo, Florence Valdez, Baldwin Park, Calif.; one sister, Agnes (Sam) Vasquez, Aguilar; one grandchild, Adam L. Lopez, Baldwin Park; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mass of the Resurrection, 7:30 p.m. Thursday; rosary recitation, 11 a.m. Friday, both services, Sacred Heart Church, Avondale, the Rev. Maurice O. Gallagher, celebrant. Interment, Roselawn. Family will receive friends at the home.

Rose D. Valdez - Pueblo Chieftain - December 19, 2003 - Rose D. Valdez passed away Dec. 17, 2003. She was born in San Pablo, Colo., on Feb. 6, 1918, and raised in Boone, Colo. Survived by her children, Connee and Frank Reed, Roberta Bratina, Jon Valdez; grandchildren, Scott and Angela Reed, Lori Horton, Tom Horton; great-grandchildren, Noelle and Ryan Reed, T.J. Horton, Teal and Ciara Carpenter; special niece, Maggie Becker; special nephews, Harold Bauch, Bob Valdez; brother-in-law, Leo Valdez; sisters-in-law, Mariea Vigil and Donna Vigil. Preceded in death by her husband, Anthony J. Valdez; parents, Eufelia and Adrian Vigil; sister, Martha Valdez; and brothers, Robert and David Vigil. Memorial service, 1 p.m. Monday, Imperial Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of food and flowers, donations in memory of Rose may be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice and Palliative Care through the funeral home office.

Rose Elucinda Valdez - Huerfano World - August 15, 1991 - Rose Elucinda Valdez, 70, of Walsenburg, died in her home, Monday, Aug. 12, 1991, after a lengthy illness. Born Oct. 15, 1920, in Walsenburg, she was raised here and attended local schools. On Dec. 23, 1938, she married Oscar Valdez in St. Mary church. Mrs. Valdez had been in ill health since October, 1988. Mrs. Valdez is survived by four daughters, Louise Steffani and Rosemary Bellah, Walsenburg, Orlena Montoya, Colorado Springs, and Nancy Barela, Augusta, GA; a son LeRoy Valdez, Cape Canaveral, FL; a sister Lorida Gillett, La Grande, OR; seven brothers, Max DeHerrera, Home Lake, Charles Vigil, Denver, John Vigil, Ben Vigil and Donnie Vigil, Pueblo, Louie Vigil and Solomon Vigil, Walsenburg; ten grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday from St. Mary Church. Burial was in South St. Mary Cemetery. Boies Almont was in charge of arrangements.

Ruben Robert Valdez - Pueblo Chieftain - May 18, 2003 - Ruben Robert Valdez, 65. Born Nov. 6, 1937, in Walsenburg, passed away May 15, 2003 at Parkview Medical Center. Affectionately known to his grandchildren as "Pa," he was an avid sports fan who enjoyed all sporting events, especially the New York Yankees and Colorado Rockies. Ruben was retired from the former Stein Food Company. He also lived in Avondale. Preceded in death by his parents, Juan Pedro and Maria Juanita (Martinez) Valdez; former wife Hilda C. Chavez; two brothers and two sisters; and granddaughter, Tisha Meadow Valdez. Survived by his children, Loretta (Ernie) Lucero, Jeannine (Robert) Keller, Lisa (Eugene Martinez) Valdez, Pete (Josephine) Valdez; five sisters, two brothers, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Visitation, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Angelus Chapel. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Tuesday, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with the Rev. Thomas R. Hinni, C.M. as celebrant. Cremation to follow. Family will receive friends at Zaragoza Hall following the service.
Salome Valdez Huerfano World April 6, 2006 M. Salome Sally Valdez, 88, long-time resident of Walsenburg, died April 4, 2006 at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge. Mrs. Valdez was born February 14, 1918 in North Veta, Colorado, to the late Armenio Pacheco and Telesfora Cruz Pacheco. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Nicolas Valdez, Sr. in 1987 and 2 sons, Nick Valdez, Jr. in 1990 and Gilbert R. Valdez in 1999. Her surviving children include stepson Mike (Frances) Valdez, Colorado Springs, Ruth (Jim) Boze, Aurora, Hurby (Julie) Valdez, Idaho Springs, Norberto (Janice) Valdez, Ft. Collins, Jeanette Valdez Bohon, Amissville, VA, Dennis (Janet) Valdez, Walsenburg, Florence (Russell) Romero, Lakewood, Elaine Valdez Prichard, Idaho Springs and Edith Valdez Peters, Pueblo. She has 24 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Valdez's siblings who preceded her in death include Ernesto Pacheco, Jose Evan Pacheco, Olivia Aragon and Ermelinda Valdez. Her surviving brothers and sisters are Naborsita Vigil, Claude Pacheco (Viola) and Nettie Quintana all of Walsenburg; Lucy Sanchez, Sarah Montoya, Katie Sanchez, and Oris Pacheco (Alice) all of Pueblo. She had many nephews and nieces. Mrs. Valdez was a kind and loving mother who loved to crochet, quilt and embroider projects to share with her children and grandchildren. A viewing and memorial service will be held April 6 at 7 p.m. at Emanuel Apostolic Temple, Walsenburg, Rev. Bernie Vigil presiding. Stella Marie Valdez - Pueblo Chieftain - April 24, 2000 - Stella Marie Valdez, 74, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, departed this life April 21, 2000. She was affectionately known to her family as the "Boss." She was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Barela, Colo. She was known and loved by her grandchildren. She always took time to listen to each one's request or problem. They each knew she had the right answer for them. The only time when "Grams" did not answer right away is when her Denver Broncos were playing. Everyone knew not to disturb her until after the game and depending who won. Preceded in death by her parents, Donaciano and Fidelia (Pacheco) Maldonado; son, Roger Valdez; grandsons, Robert and Roger Valdez; two brothers; and five sisters. Survived by her best friend and husband of 57 years, Emilio Pete Valdez; children, R.J. (Tillie) Valdez, Josie (Alejandro) Herrera, Tina (Marty) Santistevan, Lawrence (Grace) Valdez and Joyce (Steve) Moore; siblings, George (Carmen) Maldonado, Sam (Sadie) Maldonado, Logia (Ben) Arguello, Nora Madrid and Elizabeth Martinez; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; in-laws, Bernice Maldonado, Crisilda Martinez, Carrie Valdez, Robert Valdez and Alfred Ortiz; close friend, Kathy Powers; and other relatives and friends. Teresa Valdez - Pueblo Chieftain - April 25, 2004 - Teresa Valdez, of Thornton, Colo., passed away on April 22, 2004, at her home. She was born on Feb. 7, 1940, in Las Vegas, N.M., to Federico and Ruby (Lujan) Gallegos. Grateful for having shared in her life are her children, Nikki Valdez, Alan Valdez, Dominic (Teresa) Valdes; grandchildren, Andrew and Nicholas Valdez; sisters, Rosalie Gallegos and Mary Lou (Albert) Gallegos; brothers, Dimas (Maxine) Gallegos, George (Anita) Gallegos, Pete Gallegos, Phillip (True) Gallegos and Benji (Elaine) Gallegos. Thomas E. Valdez - Pueblo Chieftain - June 21, 2000 - Thomas E. Valdez, 46, departed this world for a better place on June 19, 2000. Born April 3, 1954, in Pueblo. Preceded in death by his father, Leo J. Valdez. He leaves to celebrate his life his beloved sons, Matthew Thomas and Jeremy Rudy. Survived by his mother, Adeline Valdez; and siblings, Lou Valdez, Mona Martinez, Patricia DeLaCruz, Rosalie (Victor) Farias, Elizabeth (Royce Brumfield) Valdez, Leo (Marisa) Valdez, Monica (David Bagdanov) Valdez and Paul Valdez; his Godson, David Farias; and his nieces and nephews. Thomas was a valuable employee of the Union Trading Company, where he freely shared his knowledge of Mexican art and handcrafts with his customers. He was a loving, caring, giving, and gentle man who will be remembered for his passion for music, art, and knowledge. Services will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church, Rosary, Thursday at 7 p.m., and Mass of the Resurrection, Friday at 10 a.m.
Tim Valdez - Walsenburg World-Independent - February 7, 1945 - Tim Valdez Dies In Pacific Action - Pfc. Tim Valdez, stepson of Mrs. Clara Valdez of this city, was killed while on active duty in the South Pacific, according to word received here this week. Pfc. Valdez had been in service five and one-half years, and was 18 months overseas. He was killed on Dec. 19, according to the official word received here, and was serving with a cavalry unit. He is survived by his widow and by two children, now residents of Pueblo; and by a number of brothers and sisters. No further details concerning the circumstances of his death were received here. Tom Valdez Pueblo Chieftain October 15, 2006 - Tom Valdez, 77, former employee of St. Mary Corwin Hospital passed away Oct. 4, 2006 in California. Predeceased by brothers and sisters Joe, Alex, Lena, Ernestine, Susie and Marcy. Survived by numerous nephews and nieces in the Oliva, Quintana and Valdez Families and special friend Donald Queen. Victor Milton Valdez - Sacramento Bee April 29, 2004 - Victor Milton Valdez, born in Walsenburg, CO August 25, 1933, passed away in Sacramento, CA April 27, 2004. Preceded in death by loving wife Mary Valdez, parents James and Norma Valdez, sister Effie Manriquez and daughter-in-law Shawn Valdez. Survived by his loving children Victor M. Valdez, Jr., Charlene Leventon and Diane Senna (husband Ronald). Brother of James, Harold and Gary Valdez, Nina Watson, and beloved sister-in-law Patricia Myers of MI. Grandfather of Zachary and Jarrett Valdez, Nicole Craig, Michael Leventon, Stephanie, James and Chris Senna, Riki Gonzalez, and great-grandfather of Amber and William Craig, Marcelles Sheffield and Vanessa Senna. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Lucky. Retired from the City of Sacramento. He will be remembered for his love of children and family, sports, wonderful stories and great sense of humor. Special thanks to Jim and Greg for their loving care. Valdez Sr. and mother of Alice Valdez, Denver, Dolores (Ned) Valdez of Pueblo, Dorothy (Bob) Lott of Denver, Anna (Joe) Gallegos of Cimarron, N.M., John (Corina) Valdez, Pueblo, Agnes (Leonard) LaCrue of Pueblo, Henry Maxwell of Utah and Diane Valdez of Pueblo. A sister to Roy Maestas, Sally Martinez and Flora Coca, all of Pueblo, Gilbert Valdez and Andres Valdez, both of Denver, and Onofre Aguilar of Cimarron. A daughter-in-law, Emily Valdez of Denver, as well as 28 grand-children and 37 great-grandchildren also survive. Preceded in death by son, Sam Valdez Jr., in 1981, and a brother, Pablo Valdez, in 1968. Recitation of rosary, 7 p.m. Saturday at Rivera Chapel. Mass and interment in Cimarron, N.M. Ms. Valdez was born in Aguilar, CO to Julian and Sophie Valdez. She is survived by her brother John F. Valdez (Margaret), sisters; Marie Joyce and Mary Bramer (Donald) and predeceased by her following siblings; Beatrice Darnel, Pauline Joyce, Edward, Eloy, Jimmy Valdez and her loving companion, "Otis" her pet pug. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews with one very dear to her heart; Robert J. Valdez (Lisa) of North Pole, Alaska. A vigil will be from 5 - 7 p.m. with the rosary to follow at Cappadona Funeral Home, 1020 E. Fillmore St. on Monday, 3 March. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, 4 March at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 1520 E. Yampa St. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S.
