Preceded in death by her husband, Jim Martinez; son, Carlos Martinez; three sisters; and one brother. Survived by her children, Alfonso (Linda) Martinez, Bertha Rodriguez, Beatrice (Larry) Archuletta, George (Tana) Martinez, Jimmy (Jessie) Martinez, Judy (Mike) Butcher, Linda (Chuck) Martinez, Dean Martinez, Ruben (Donna) Martinez, Albert (Rita) Martinez, Mary Ann (Lloyd) Mondragon, Lorraine (Kenny) Jaquez; granddaughters, Lucy Vigil, Sharon Martinez; two sisters; one sister-in-law; and one brother-in-law. Born Nov. 10, 1953 he is survived by his father, Tito Martinez, Pueblo; grandmother, Lucrecia Martinez, Walsenburg; son, Richard (Rachel) Martinez, Denver; daughters, Sheri (Mike) Ortivez, Aguilar, Lisa (Phil) Medina, New Mexico and Antonet Martinez, Denver; nine grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces; sisters, Lala (Phil) Gama and Janice (Charlie) Valero; brothers, Floyd Martinez, Mark (Monica) Martinez and Ronnie (Julie) Martinez. Preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Martinez and his grandfather, Joe A. Martinez. Thomas D. Martinez - Pueblo Chieftain - June 11, 1986 - Thomas D. Martinez, 62, late of 1210 E. Third Street, died June 10, 1986. Husband of Louise (Serna) Martinez, and father of Tom (Gloria) Martinez, Blue Springs, Mo.; Roland (Loretta) Martinez, Phyllis (Allen) Sparks, Anthony (Marlene) Martinez, Ivan (Debbie) Martinez, and Debra (Ambrose Jr.) Soils, all of Pueblo. Ten grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces also survive. Mr. Martinez retired from Pueblo Depot Activity in 1975, formerly taught school in the San Luis Valley, a veteran of WWII, worked with disabled children, was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans and a volunteer for SRDA. Recitation of rosary, 8:30 p.m. Thursday, and Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. Friday, both services at St. Joseph Church. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery. Friends will be received at 1210 E. Tito J. Martinez - Huerfano World - January 21, 1993 - Memorial mass was Thursday for Tito J. Martinez, 77, of Walsenburg. Mr. Martinez died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1993, in St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo where he had been a patient since before Thanksgiving. Born May 31, 1915, in Walsenburg to Rosendo and Manuelita Rodriquez Martinez, he was reared in Walsenburg and educated here. He had worked at many different occupations, but most of the time in hardrock mining and construction. Since his retirement he had been with the U.S. Forest Service work program in La Veta. He married Anastacia Roybal Chavez in 1971. She died in 1991. Survivors include an estranged son and brother, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Cremation. Inurnment, Imperial Gardens, Pueblo.

Martinez, 66, of Walsenburg, died Sunday, July 23, 1989, in the St. Mary Corwin Hospital in he had been a patient Pueblo where the last nine days. Born Aug. 16, 1922, in Walsenburg to Francisco and Maria Simodosea Lopez Martinez, he was reared and attended school in Walsenburg, graduating from Walsenburg High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army. When he returned to Walsenburg he married Dolores Sierra, who preceded him in death. Mr. Martinez is survived by eight children, Toby A. Martinez Jr., Camellia Vallejos, Nora Barron, Sandra Martinez and Mary Martinez, Walsenburg, Dolores Amparam, La Veta, Frank Martinez, Pueblo and Juanita Martinez, La Mesa, CA; two brothers, Tony Martinez and Ruben Martinez, Evansville, IN; four sisters, Emma Agnes and Susan Pineda, Walsenburg, Frances Rivera, Northglenn, and Josephine Michell, DeSota, TX, numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) from St. Mary Church. Burial will be in North St. Mary Cemetery. Boies Almont is in charge of arrangements.

Tony J. Martinez - Huerfano World - July 6, 1989 - Tony J. Martinez, 72, of Walsenburg, died Friday, June 30, 1989 in Parkview Hospital in Pueblo where he had been admitted following a heart attack at his home. Born in Yellowstone, West of Walsenburg, Apr. 3, 1917, he was reared in the Yellowstone and Pass Greek area on ranches and farms. He attended school through the third grade and began working on the farm/ranches until he entered the Army in 1942. He was wounded by shrapnel and lost an eye while serving in Germany and was discharged in 1945. He returned to farm work in the Farisita and Badito area and later worked in construction. In 1960, he began working for Jim Boies at Boies Memorial Chapel as an assistant funeral director and ambulance driver. He retired in 1972. Mr. Martinez, a member of St. Mary Church, is survived by his wife, Ruth; three children, Ramona Martinez, Pueblo and Anthony B. Martinez and Vanessa Martinez, Walsenburg; six step-children, two sisters, Elizabeth Pino and Rose Havilland, Salem, OR; four brothers, Fritz Martinez, Alfred Martinez and Johnny Martinez, Walsenburg and Demas Martinez, Hayward, CA; four grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial is Thursday (today) at 10 a.m. Military committal in North St. Mary Cemetery by the Ft. Carson Burial Team. Boies Almont was in charge of arrangements.

Tony L. Martinez - Huerfano World - September 10, 1998 - Private funeral service was held for Tony L. Martinez of Sonoma, CA, formerly of Walsenburg. Mr. Martinez died Sept. 3, 1998. He was 83. Born in Pagosa Junction, he was a long time resident of the San Francisco Bay area and Sonoma. He was an active banking officer for Bank of America and a district manager for J.C. Penny's. Mr. Martinez graduated from St. Mary High School in Walsenburg as the valedictorian of his class. Survivors include his daughter Arlene; a son, Robert; a step-daughter, three sisters, Frances, Mary, and Juanita and three grandchildren.

Trini Martinez - Pueblo Chieftain - November 7, 2004 - Trini Martinez, 82, born Oct. 29, 1922, passed away Nov. 6, 2004. She was predeceased by her husband, Ben Martinez; and grandsons, Steve Lujan, Ray Alarcon and Sam Lopresti Jr. She is survived by her children, Dolores (Zeke) Lujan, Leonard (JoAnn) Martinez, Rudy Martinez, Lydia Alarcon, Ernie Martinez, and Robert (Paula) Martinez; grandchildren, Lorie, Christy, Deann, Duane, Naomi, Renee, Ben, Sara, Marla and Deon; great-grandchildren, Steven, Marcus, Derek, Kaila, Aaron, Daniel, Anthony, Marissa, C.J., Josh, Jaycee, Janae, Deon Jr. and Anthony; She is also survived by the Gallegos family, five sisters and six brothers, and special niece, Polly Jacobs. Trini retired from St. Mary-Corwin Hospital. She loved going to Las Vegas, Cripple Creek and the dog track. She was a devoted Catholic and enjoyed her time with her family, friends and her pets. Brother of Betty (Larry) Maes, Pueblo; Clara (Lynn) Chase, Thornton; Elias (Gloria) Martinez, Los Angeles, Calif., and Ted (Carla) Martinez, Salt Lake City, Utah. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by his father, Elias Martinez, 1959; brother, Nemecio "Ned Martinez, 1974; and sister, Eloida Vigil, 1979. Mr. Martinez was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a graduate of Central High School and Southern Colorado State College. He was employed as a design engineer in the refrigeration and air conditioning manufacturing industry in San Francisco. Services, Mt. Victoria Sierra Martinez - Pueblo Chieftain - December 06, 2003 - Victoria Sierra Martinez, affectionately known as "Aunt Vicki," went to be with the Lord on Dec. 2, 2003. She was born in Walsenburg, Colo., on March 23, 1931, to the union of Frank and Fedelina Sierra, both of whom precede her in death. Victoria is also preceded in death by her husband, Albert; and son, Frank. She was employed as a registered nurse at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital for many years. Vicki loved listening to music and dancing. She is the last of 13 children and original descendent of the Autobee family and is a true Sierra. Vicki is survived by her stepson, Albert (Pat) Martinez; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Vicki has a special love and bond with each one, including special niece, Rose Martinez. Visitation, noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, at Angelus Funeral Home. Viola Martinez - Independent May 25, 1928 - Little Viola Martinez Succumbs to Heart Trouble at Walsen - Viola Martinez, beautiful seven year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leandro Martinez of Walsen, members of prominent Walsenburg families, succumbed to leakage of the heart as a result of bronchial pneumonia, Tuesday morning at the family residence. Funeral services were held Wednesday. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery under the direction of Furphy Brothers. The little girl was particularly attractive, having won a baby beauty contest conducted by the Joe Navalessi Studio two years ago. She attended the Walsen school. The pall bearers were Elvira Sanchez, Cora Sanchez, Josephine Velasquez, Lilia Velasquez, Josie Gould, and Patsy Vallejos. Flower girls were Lucinda Sanchez, Anna Bospich, Lupe Espinoza, Mary Espinoza, Emma Klarich, Bessie Sarkis, and Lolly Quinteris.

Virginia Martinez - Pueblo Chieftain - July 22, 2005 - Virginia Martinez, 65, went home to be with the Lord on July 20, 2005. Preceded in death by mother, Eutimia Pineda; father, Samuel Pineda; sisters, Carrie Casias, Emily Bellew; brothers, Jake, Fred and Nabor Pineda. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Jim Martinez; son, Mike (Gloria) Martinez; daughter (and best friend), Anita (Chris) Archuleta; granddaughters, Sherelle, Nikki Archuleta; grandsons, James, Joshua Martinez and Christopher Archuleta; brothers, Tim (Per) Pineda, Albert (Gloria) Pineda; sisters, Mary (Richard) Casias, Lillian (Bill) Mulanax; special niece who was more of a sister, Maxine Maldonado; also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Virginia was employed at the Pantry Restaurant (for more than 20 years), where she had many friends and had a special place in her heart for her boss, Kenny Valdez. Virginia loved to play bingo and go to Cripple Creek; she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a beautiful lady and will be sadly missed by all of those who loved her. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Romero Chapel. Relatives and friends will be received at Romero Courtesy Hall following service.
