Katy Montoya Gonzales - Pueblo Chieftain - November 10, 1998 - Katy Montoya Gonzales, 85, passed away Nov. 7, 1998, at Minnequa Medical Center. Katy was born July 17, 1913, in La Junta. She was raised in the Salt Creek area. She also lived in Rocky Ford and Las Vegas, N.M. She married Philadefio Gonzales Nov. 28, 1933, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Her husband precedes her in death- as do her parents, Blass and Peterita Romero Montoya- two brothers, Frank and August Montoya- a sister, Cecilia Montoya- daughter, Helen Huebal- and granddaughter, Linda Gonzales. Katy leaves to cherish her memory her children, Angelina Angie" Gonzales, Don (Alice) Gonzales, John (Maria) Gonzales, Phil Gonzales Jr., Juanita Jenny" (Noleberto) Chavez and Pearl Gonzales, all of Pueblo, and Betty Elizabeth (Pastor Bob) Alarcon, Kansas City, Mo.- a sister, Natividad Perez, Pueblo- sisters-in-law, Delia Montoya, Pueblo, Bessie Lucero, Minturn- 21 grandchildren, including those whom she raised, Donna Miceli, Ruby Gray, Rosemary Cortez, Rosa Marie Loonsfoot, Denitra Infestio and Brandi Padilla- 42 great-grandchildren- 27 great-great-grandchildren- a godchild, Amber Cortez- and numerous other relatives and friends. Katy was an SRDA volunteer. She worked many years for the Greek Orthodox Church of Pueblo. She was also a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Born Dec. 21, 1956, in Pueblo. Preceded in death by father, Henry R. Gonzales; two brothers, Ronald Paul Gonzales Sr. and Joseph Martin Gonzales; one sister, Barbara M. Urrutia. Survived by his special friend, Debbie Perez Trujillo; daughter, Melissa Ann Mahlstedt; brothers, Andrew Ralph Gonzales and Daniel Lee (Dahlei) Gonzales; sisters, Diane DeSantos, Debbie Apodaca and Patricia (John) Carrero; grandchildren, Mateo Lee Gonzales; and unborn granddaughter, Alyssa Ann. Mallory Ryan Gonzales – Newspaper Unknown - November 1998 - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Columba Catholic Church for Mallory Ryan Gonzales, who died Sunday, Nov. 8, 1998, near Walsenburg, Colo., from injuries suffered in a car accident. She was 11. The Rev. Mike McCleary will officiate. Burial will be at Greenmount Cemetery. Rosary service will be 5:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Mallory was born March 15, 1987, in Durango and was a lifelong resident of Durango. She was a sixth-grade student at Escalante Middle School. She had previously attended St. Columba School. Mallory played the saxophone. She was a member of the Durango Shredders, a traveling soccer team. She was part of the Ballet Colores Latinos Dance Troupe. Mallory loved horses, time with her family, and was always smiling. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael John Gonzales, in July of this year. Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Sharalyn "Shari" and Jeff Titus of Durango; sister, Whitney Gonzales of Durango; stepbrother and stepsister, Scott and Stephanie Titus of Durango; grandparents, Robbie Humble of Casper, Wyo., Rod and Linda Humble of Durango, Fidel and Edna Gonzales of Durango and Steve and Margaret Titus of Durango; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Manuel “Pipas” Gonzales - Pueblo Chieftain - July 05, 2001 - Manuel "Pipas" Gonzales, 88, went to be with the Lord on July 3, 2001. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Adelina. Survived by his children, Albert (Kim), Lydia (Eddie), Pat (Dolores), Rich (Esther), Dennis (Brenda), and Dan; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. Manuel Gonzales - Pueblo Chieftain - October 14, 1998 - Manuel Gonzales, 55, passed away unexpectedly Oct. 11, 1998, while on a hunting trip in Conejos County Colorado. A lifetime Puebloan, Mr. Gonzales was born June 5, 1943. He was retired from the former Dana Corp. His life revolved around his grandchildren. He believed in bonding time." He took them on educational outings, fishing, hunting and camping. As a hobby he raised cattle, restored antique cars and put his sisters through his own educational stress." Mr. Gonzales recently celebrated his 35th wedding anniversary Oct. 5 with his beloved wife, Rubita Ruby" Gonzales. Marcella Sue Gonzales - Colorado Springs Gazette - February 8, 2002 - "Life is eternal; and love is immortal; and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight." Rossiter Worthington Raymond, 1840- 1918 - Marcella passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, at a local nursing home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Wellston, MO., on June 28, 1941 to Eleanor Jessie (Young) and Eugene Raymond Howard who preceded her in death. She had two brothers, Eugene and Jessie. Marcella married Patrick Gonzales on June 30, 1970 in Pueblo. They made their home in Colorado Springs where she was a homemaker. A viewing will be held from noon to 3:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 8, 2002 at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd. A private burial will follow.

Preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Margarita Olonia; brother and sister-in-law, Manuel and Theresa Olonia; sister, Emma Vigil; brother-in-law, Ernest Gonzales; and special niece, Margie Casarez. Maggie was born June 10, 1927, in Taos, N.M. She retired from St. Mary Corwin Hospital as a cook and was a foster grandparent for 17 years. A member of St. Joseph Church. Maria Beatrice [Lucero] Gonzales - Huerfano World - August 16, 1962 - Maria B. Gonzales Passes Away At 91 - Mrs. Maria Beatrice [Lucero] Gonzales, 91, passed away Monday afternoon at her home, 801 Hendren Avenue, Walsenburg, leaving more than 150 direct descendants. A native of Costilla County, Mrs. Gonzales was born on October 8, 1870, and came to Huerfano County when she was 13 years old. Mrs. Gonzales and her husband. Pedro Pantalion Gonzales, lived at Malachite for many years before she came to Walsenburg three years ago. He died in 1952. The deceased, who was a member of the First Spanish Church of God in Christ, leaves six sons, Elias Gonzales, Abel Gonzales, and Onan Gonzales, all of Walsenburg, Ezequil Gonzales, Redwing, and Daniel Gonzales and Eli Ben Gonzales, both of Pueblo; two daughters Mrs. Eva Cortez and Mrs. Cordelia Duran, both of Walsenburg; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret King and Demetera Harmes, both of Pueblo; 40 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; and 20 great, great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the First Spanish Church of God in Christ. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery.

Maria E. Gonzales - Pueblo Chieftain - May 21, 2006 - Maria E. Gonzales, 80, affectionately known to family and friends as "Ruth," departed this life May 17, 2006, at Parkview Medical Center. She was born Aug. 1, 1925, in Fowler, Colo., to the union of Eufemio and Isabel Armenta-Sanchez, who both preceded her in death. Ruth is survived by her children, Linda (Greg Page) Vanvleet and Ed (Kathy) Gonzales; siblings; Madeline (Max) Blea, Emily (Virgil) Wiley and Arthur (Lucy) Sanchez; her little companion "Blackie," as well as five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ruth loved being with her family. She enjoyed dancing and music. Her favorite show on Saturday was "The Lawrence Welk Show." No viewing. Funeral service, 10 a.m. Monday, Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Maria Rose Gonzales - Pueblo Chieftain - April 14, 2005 - Maria Rose Gonzales, 71, departed this life April 11, 2005, at Parkview Medical Center. Maria was born Feb. 20, 1934 in Weston, Colo., to Ruben and Lisaida Padilla. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first-husband, Louis Cardenas Sr.; second-husband, Bonefacio Gonzales; sons, Joseph "Archie" Cardenas, Louis "Butch" Cardenas and James Lee "Bino" Gonzales. Maria is survived by her children, Lydia (James) Arellano, Shirley (Felix) Sanchez, Juan (Martha) Cardenas, Margie (Carmelo) Diaz, Michael (Jenny) Cardenas, Richard Cardenas, Linda Trujillo, Lawrence (Cheryl) Cardenas and Jose (Kim) Gonzales; also 40 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Maria loved the outdoors and the mountains and was her favorite pastime with her family. She also had a passion for puzzles. Marie Gonzales - Huerfano World - November 19, 1992 - Marie Nieves Gonzales, 87, of Walsenburg, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 1992 in Huerfano County Medical Center. Born May 25,1905 in Walsenburg, she had lived her entire life in the community. Her first husband, Alexander Archuleta was killed in a coal mine accident. She later married Antonio Gonzales who also preceded her in death. Survivors include five children, Joe Archuleta, Walsenburg, Casper Gonzales, Stella Macias, Jim Gonzales and John Gonzales, all of Denver; a sister, Carmelita DeHerrera, Alamosa; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral mass was Monday from St. Mary Church. Burial was in North Veta Cemetery.

Preceded in death by her parents, Rosendo and Elojia Rascon; husbands, John Martinez and Charlie Gonzales; sisters, Juanita Alarid and Cleo Vigil; and brothers, Narciso and Manuel Velasquez. Mary is survived by daughters, Rose Purdy of Georgia, and Laura Galvan; sons, Richard (Jessie) Galvan, and Dave (Gina) Martinez, all of Pueblo; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Emma Lucero, Tiavy Baca, of Pueblo, and Bennie (Able Martinez) Mestas of Denver. She loved her family gatherings, fishing, her chickens that she raised, and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a strong love for the Lord. She loved cooking rice and tortillas. Mary Ascencion Gonzales - Pueblo Chieftain - December 07, 2004 - Mary Ascencion Gonzales, 85, went to her eternal rest Dec. 6, 2004. Mary was born May 29, 1919, in Pueblo, Colo. She is predeceased by her husband, Walter G. Gonzales, on Dec. 5, 1998; her parents, Severo Leandro and Margarita Hernandez; daughter, Margaret Eloise; and sisters, Maria deJesus "Chita" Hernandez and Lillie Adame-Arriaga. Survived by children, Martin (Daisy) Gonzales, Theresa (Arsenio) Sanchez, Walter James Gonzales, Richard (Pat) Gonzales and Margaret Josephine (Frank) Trujillo, all of Pueblo, also 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was primarily a homemaker; however, she worked at the Kaiser Ship Yards in Richmond, Calif., during World War II and with School District 60. Her "job," as she saw it, was to raise her children. She, along with her deceased husband, also were past owners of Margaret's Unicorn Fantasy Beauty Salon. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Society and Legion of Mary. Visitation, 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, and rosary, 7 p.m. Wednesday, Imperial Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Pedro Gonzales - World Independent – February 25, 1960 - Pedro Gonzales, County Pioneer, Dies In Denver - Pedro A. Gonzales, 79, a pioneer resident of Huerfano County, died on Sunday in Denver. Born in Walsenburg on December 3, 1880, Mr. Gonzales was active in civic affairs and politics here. From 1927 – 1929, he was a state representative from Huerfano and Costilla Counties in the general assembly. Previously, he had been a deputy sheriff and jailer under Huerfano County Sheriff E.L. Neeley. Outside political life, Mr. Gonzales had worked as a clerk in the general merchandise store of M.A. Sanchez on Main Street in Walsenburg at approximately the present location of the Fashion Shoe Mart and with Levy's Grocery and the C.O.D. Store. After moving to Denver some years ago he worked in the maintenance department of the state capital. He had been in retirement since 1950. The deceased leaves his wife, Rosa; two sons, Ross N. Gonzales, Denver and Phillip Gonzales, Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Mrs. Ursula Hamlin and Mrs. Rebecca DeLaurol, both of Denver; a brother, Leo Gonzales, Walsenburg; a sister, Mrs. Celsa Gonzales, Whittier, Calif.; 13 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services were held today (Thursday) in Denver at St. Catherine's Church. Burial followed in Denver at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Pedro Pantalion Gonzales - World Independent - October 27, 1952 - Pioneer In County Dies At Malachite - One of the pioneer residents at Malachite died Saturday evening at his ranch home. He was 90 year old Pedro Pantalion Gonzales, after whom Pantalion creek was named. Gonzales was born in Taos, New Mexico, July 7, 1862. He was a rancher and farmer in Huerfano County most of his life except for two years as a blacksmith in New Mexico. He also had a blacksmith shop on his own ranch. Gonzales is survived by his wife, Beatrice L. four sons, Elias, Dan, Esquiel, and Benjamin Eli, two daughters Mrs. Candelia (Alfonso) Duran and Mrs. Clovis Cortez, a nephew Abel Gonzales, forty-six grandchildren and forty-five great grandchildren. Another son, Sam, died in 1938. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. from the Church of God in Christ Jesus' near Malachite. Interment will be in the family cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Burress Memorial Chapel.

Phyllis Gonzales - Huerfano World - December 4, 2003 - Phyllis Gonzales, 61, went to be with the Lord Nov. 25, 2003. She was born on Dec. 7, 1941 to Virgil Garcia and Neomi Arellano. She is preceded in death by her brother, Virgil Garcia Jr., her father and her mother. She is survived by her husband, Gasper Gonzales; her sisters, Orvie Garcia and Lila (Dave) Manzanares, Walsenburg; Delpha Trujillo, Daly City, CA; children, John (Alicia) Pineda, Walsenburg; Roxanne (Santiago) Rodriquez, Juanita (Michael) Leul and Michael Marques, San Antonio, TX; Anna Marie (James) McClusky, Albuquerque, NM; and Anna Jean and Leonard; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. She loved to laugh, watch wrestling, play rummy and listen to oldies. She loved her family and had given her heart to the Lord several years ago. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. At her request, she was cremated. A memorial service will be held on Dec. 6, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Lighthouse Worship Center, 311 W. 4th in Walsenburg. Porfirio Gonzales - Pueblo Chieftain - February 2, 1987 - Porfirio Gonzales, 89, was called home to be with our Lord on Jan. 31, 1987, at Veteran's Retirement Home near Florence. Mr. Gonzales is survived by his two sons, Robert Gonzales of Buffalo, N.Y., and Frank Gonzales of Denver; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Santisteven of Pueblo, and Mrs. Stella (Sam) Alabisi of Buffalo, N.Y. He is also survived by granddaughters, Mrs. Grace Lancaster of Pueblo; Mrs. Phyllis Barela of Colorado Springs; and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Leo Gonzales in 1977 and George Gonzales in 1984. Mr. Gonzales was born on May 21, 1897, near Walsenburg at the ranch home of his parents, Leandro and Avelina (Martinez) Gonzales. He was a longtime resident of Pueblo and a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church of Pueblo. On Feb. 3, 1919, Mr. Gonzales was joined in marriage to Nora Onofre Cordova who preceded him in death in 1944. He was a World War I veteran and in 1959 retired from American Packing as a butcher. Visitation hours from noon until 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Imperial Funeral Home. Christian Prayer service at 7 p.m. today at Imperial Chapel. Ronald Paul Gonzales - Pueblo Chieftain - June 13, 2000 - Ronald Paul Gonzales, 49, departed this life June 10, 2000, at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital following a brief illness. A lifetime Puebloan. He was born June 5,1951. Served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Known to many as "Mr. Carpet Installer," Ron installed carpet in many Pueblo homes and businesses for more than 30 years. He trained many of the installers working in Pueblo today, to include members of his own family. Those who knew Ron could always count on him to help out where ever he could. He had a heart of gold. A devout Christian, Ron was a member of Abundant Life Christian Church. Preceded in death by his father, Henry R. Gonzales, in 1987; sister, Barbara Urrutia, in 1989; and brother, Joseph M. Gonzales, in 1970. Survived by his mother, Margaret Gonzales-Vasquez; step-father, Pete Vasquez; children, Ronald P. Gonzales, Brandon P. Gonzales, Mario A. Ross L. Gonzales - Pueblo Chieftain - March 14, 2001 - Age 79, departed this life on March 9, 2001. Preceded in death by his adored wife, Stella Gonzales. Survived by his loving children, Anthony, Judy, Paula, Susan and Patrick; grandchildren, Regie, Eric, Sergio, Mario and Crystal; brother, Arthur; and sister, Eva; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Dad was an independent soul of great strength and spirit with an ornery streak a mile long. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gambling - Pueblo Chieftain especially when he held all the cards. He served in the armed forces from 1940-1945, and retired from CF&I in 1983. He was a self-taught man who taught us many valuable lessons about life and never hesitated to help others when needed. He was a good husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandpa and friend who made the most of his life without complaints. Our time with him was too short and he will be sadly missed. The family will receive friends at the family home, 2204 E. 12th Street. A private family viewing was held at the funeral home and a private inurnment will take place at a later date. We love you Dad. You will always be with us.

Ruben J. Gonzales - Pueblo Chieftain - August 29, 2001 - Passed away Aug. 27, 2001, in Boone. Ruben was born in Alamosa, Colo., on Sept. 21, 1948, and had lived in the Pueblo area most of his life. He was employed as a guard for the Department of Corrections in Canon City and then in the Ordway facility. Ruben retired from the DOC earlier this year with 20 years of service. He was very active in the Boone community, serving on the Volunteer Fire Department and also was Mayor of Boone for five years. Ruben is survived by his wife Chyrl of Boone; his parents, Carlos and Elsie Gonzales of Pueblo; brother, Charles Vigil of Antonito; sister, Patricia (Jim) Martinez of Arvada; and special friends, Johnny Rodriguez and Ray Garcia. Cremation, Davis Crematory. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001, at 2 p.m. in the Davis Memorial Chapel.

Rudy Gonzales - Pueblo Chieftain - May 11, 2003 - Rudy Gonzales, 72, affectionately known as "RG", of Delagua, Colo. Passed away Thursday, May 8, 2003. Rudy was born April 22, 1931, in Delagua, Colo. Preceded in death by his loving parents, Jesus and Ophelia Gonzales; and sister, Benita Morgan. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Rose M. Vigil-Gonzales. Also survived by his children, Dave (Amy) Wilson, Geri (Dave) Patrone, Vicki Fernandez, Kathy (Peter) O'Connell, Richard Gonzales, Rudy (Jo) Gonzales Jr., Randi Lee (Mike) Gonzales and Denise (Paul) Aragon; siblings, Esther (Ed) Velasquez, Victoria (Ken) Davis, Josephine (Ray) Miller, Joe (Barbara) Gonzales, Max Gonzales and Yvonne (Drew) Neve; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He shared a very special bond with Brian, Darin, Lisa Marie and Tori. Rudy was an expert mechanic and automotive instructor for more than 36 years. He did repairs for anyone, regardless of their financial means. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping, as well as cooking and making his famous salsa for his Green Bay games. The love, courage and strength he gave his family will be admired. He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor and for always seeing the good in everything. Retired from Pueblo Depot Activity in 1962. Husband of Mrs. Facunda Gonzales and father of Dora (Clovis) Pacheco, Manuel (Ruby) Gonzales, Betty (Johnny) Mascarenas, Marie Rojas, Flora (Erdwin) Lujan, Christine (Tony) Hernandez, Mary Ellen (Alvin) Rojas, all of Pueblo, Irene (Ben) Martinez of Trujillo, N.M., Mary (Larry) Martinez of Albuquerque, N.M., and Stella (Melvin) Valdez of Westminster. A brother-in-law, Salvador DeHerrera of Pueblo, other brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law, 26 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive. Samuel Gonzales - World Independent - July 14, 1939 - Samuel Gonzales Claimed By Death - Death claimed Samuel Gonzales, 49-year-old World war veteran, who expired at his ranch home on Pass Creek Thursday. He was born September 7, 1889 at Red Wing and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. P.P. Gonzales. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1916 and served nine months over seas, seeing action in the Aragon. Besides his parents he is survived by four brothers, Elias, Dan, Ezequiel, Benjamin, of Red Wing, and two sisters, Mrs. Cordelia Duran and Eva Gonzales of Red Wing. Funeral services will be held at the family home Sunday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock in the care of the Unfug-Peet mortuary. Huerfano Post of the American Legion will be in charge of services at the grave. Burial will be in the Gonzales cemetery at Red Wing.

She married Valentine S. Gonzales Sr. on Aug. 5, 1950, in Steamboat Springs. He preceded her in death, June 9, 2000; also her parents, Manuel and Frances (Romero) Lovato; and a son, James P. Gonzales. Her children describe their mother as a dedicated mother and grandmother who loved to travel to Las Vegas and Cripple Creek. Survived by husband, Ross- children, Anthony, Judy, Paula, Susan, Patrick-grandchildren, Regie, Eric, Sergio, Mario, and Crystal- sister, Cora- and brother, Louis. She loved each one of us and was dearly loved by us in return. All who knew her, knew her heart was kind and good and she rallied like a champion in every way she could. She was our rock, always there to listen, guide and support us in every way she could. We are thankful for all of the years we had and will keep those memories close in our hearts. She is gone now, but the pain is not. Our grief can only be comforted by trust that is only for a time we must part. For when it is our turn to travel this way alone, we know she will greet us with a smile and welcome us home. Private family viewing to be at T.G. A lifetime Pueblo resident, he was born July 23, 1962, and graduated from Centennial High School, Class of 1982. He was an avid football fan and favored the Washington Redskins. Custom built cars was his hobby and he was a former member of the Eastside Low-rider Club. Preceded in death by his father, Joe Gonzales, in July 1975, and grandmother, Mary Palma, February 1974. Survived by two daughters, Jenae Gonzales, California, Justine Gonzales, Pueblo; mother, Esther Martinez; stepfather, Robert Martinez, both of Pueblo; four sisters, Deborah (Dennis) Gonzales, Phyllis Lefebre, Patricia (Tomas) Tapia, Alexandria Martinez, all of Pueblo; grandparents, Tim Esquivel, Dorothy Esquivel, both of Pueblo; two nephews and one niece; and a host of other relatives and friends. Vivinita Gonzales - Pueblo Chieftain - January 02, 2002 - Age 98, went peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 30, 2001. Born Dec. 13, 1903, to the union of Jesus and Salome Gurule. Preceded in death by sisters, Damas Herrera, Steffie Gurule and Isabel Cedillo, and brother, Patricio Gurule. Vivinita worked all her life in fields, WPA and hotel work. Her last job was in the laundry at St. Mary-Corwin hospital for many years. She was always ready to help. Survived by nieces and nephews. She will be missed so very much by her niece, Nora Lobato. Viewing will be from noon until 5 p.m. today at Adrian Comer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at St. Francis Xavier Church. Interment at Roselawn Cemetery.

Walter G. Gonzales - Pueblo Chieftain - December 07, 1998 - Walter G. Gonzales, age 82, born in Cisco, Texas, on Dec. 12, 1915. Survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary A. Gonzales of Pueblo- children, Martin (Daisy) Gonzales, Theresa (Arsenio) Sanchez, Walter James Gonzales, Richard (Pat) Gonzales, Margaret Eloise-deceased and Margaret Josephine (Frank) Trujillo, all of Pueblo- sister-in-law, Lillie Arriaga- 14 grandchildren- 16 great-grandchildren- one great-great-grandchild- and numerous nieces and nephews. Walter retired Jan. 1, 1980, after a 30-year career with Pueblo Gas & Fuel Company. Walter was self-employed in Pueblo prior to World War II and during the war worked as a welder for Kaiser Ship Yards in Richmond, Calif. For two years before joining Pueblo Gas & Fuel, he was a welder for Southern Colorado Power Company in Pueblo. After retirement he remained active pursuing his hobbies of remodeling, carpentry and team sports. He also was the past owner of Margaret's Unicorn Fantasy Beauty Salon and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Society. The family wishes to acknowledge his niece, Ms. Gloria Armstrong, of Henderson, Nev., for her loving support during his illness and Connie Medina of Hospice. Visitation, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Imperial Funeral Home. will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.
