Croasdell, Teresa
Teresa F. "Nana" Croasdell - Pueblo Chieftain - September 04, 2002 - Teresa F. "Nana" Croasdell, 91, passed away Sept. 1, 2002. Survived by her sons, Kent (Jan), Jack (Diana) and Mick (Gail) Croasdell; sisters, Lillian Kochenderfer, Katie (Grover) Schatz and Mary Guibord; grandchildren, Kevin (Ladonna), Dave (Karen), Jeff (Michelle) Croasdell, Diane (Richard) Diehl, Wendy (John) Huston, Janet (Chris) Cottle, Michelle Croasdell, Deanna (Steven) Gardner, Ryan, Greg and Andrea Croasdell; and 22 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her loving husband, John J. Croasdell Sr.; brothers, Donald, Elmer, Charles, George and Frank Felice; and sister, Amelia Croasdell. Teresa was born May 24, 1911, in Italy and came to the United States in 1914. She lived in Pontiac, Mich., and Arizona before coming to Pueblo in 1945. Teresa lived in Beulah Heights for 50 years, where she sold Stanley Home Products for 40-plus years. She loved people and lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, gardening and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. Being longtime members, Teresa and John were one of the first families to welcome the Holy Family Parish community. She will lie in state at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday. Recitation of the Rosary, 6 p.m. Thursday and funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Friday with Father Jesse Perez as celebrant. Both services will be held at Holy Family Parish, 2827 Lakeview. Interment will follow at Imperial Memorial Gardens. In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to the Hailey Marie Gardner Fund through the funeral home.

Crockenberg, Rose M.
Rose M. Crockenberg - Pueblo Chieftain - June 04, 2000 - Rose M. Crockenberg, 86, formerly of Binghamton, N.Y., passed away June 3, 2000, in Pueblo. Born Feb. 5, 1914, in Ohio to Charles and Esther Toth. Survived by sons, Vincent (Susan) of Charlotte, Vt., John (Mary) of Healdsburg, Calif., and David (Susan) Crockenberg of Pueblo. Also survived by grandchildren, David, Tim, Jennifer, Andrea, Michael, William and Daniel; and one great-grandchild, Erick. Preceded in death by her husband, Walter Crockenberg; brother, Frank Toth; and sister, Helen Washburn. Private graveside service will be held. Family will receive friends, Tuesday, June 6, 2000, 5 p.m. at 234 Bridle Trail. The family would also like to thank the staff at Horizon Heights Special Care Unit.

Walter N. Crockenberg - Pueblo Chieftain - December 09, 1998 - Walter N. Crockenberg passed away Dec. 7, 1998. Born on May 18, 1913, to Ferdinand and Whilmina Crockenberg, he was the youngest son of 15 children. Mr. Crockenberg is survived by Rose, his wife of 56 years, Pueblo- sister, Anna Mae Cleary, Telford, Penn.- sons, Vincent (Susan) Crockenberg, Charlotte, Vt., John (Mary) Crockenberg, Healdsburg, Calif., and David (Sue) Crockenberg, Pueblo- grandchildren, David, Tim, William, Daniel, Jenny, Andi, and Mikey Crockenberg- and great-grandchild, Erick Crockenberg. He was a Pueblo resident for the past 13 years and a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII where he served in Saipan. Private family services. Please omit food and flowers. The family will greet friends from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at 234 Bridle Trail, home of David and Sue Crockenberg. Crockett, Edmond A.
Edmond A. Crockett - Pueblo Chieftain - May 30, 1930 - Funeral services for the late Edmond A. Crockett were held yesterday morning at 10:30 in the funeral chapel of T.G. McCarthy & Sons, Inc. Rev. Hugh T. Gray officiated. Miss Verna F. Rodell, accompanied at organ by Miss. Mabel Stackus sang “ O Love That Will Not Let Me Go,” and “ Jerusalem the Golden,” The floral offerings were many and beautiful in evidence of the high esteem in which he was held by his many friends. The pallbearers were Henry Anton, Jack Robertson, Robert Bradford, Jerry Sabin, George Anderson, Perry Bradford, Max Hardy, Robert Rhea, A. M. Riddle Jr. and Robert Crowder. Interment was made in the Crockett mound in Roselawn cemetery.

Crockett, Edmond I.
Edmond I. Crockett - Pueblo Chieftain - August 17, 1943 - E. I. Crockett Succumbs; Services Set For Today. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at the First Presbyterian church for Edmond I. Crockett, resident of Pueblo 55 years, who died Sunday night at his home, 422 W. 12th, after an illness of two and one-half months. The body will lie in state at the chapel of T. G. McCarthy & Sons from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. Dr. Charles J. Wood will conduct the funeral, and burial will be in Roselawn cemetery. The following will serve as active pall bearers, W. H. Biddall, J. Roy Rennle, G. A. Sabin, J. A. Brown, Ken Parker and Cecil A. Lee and the following will act as honorary pall bearers: W. V. Codding, E. D. Spruill, B. F. Scribner, Louie Behm, B. F. Koperlik, Lewis Harris, Dr. H. A. Black, John B. Scelig, Logan Ragle Sr. and John T. Liggett. During his 55 years' residence here, Mr. Crockett was one of the city's leading realtors, having served the Pueblo Realtors as president, and the state organization of realtors as a member of the board of directors. He was well known also as a lecturer, for he was a world traveler, and took motion pictures on his travels, which he later used in addressing groups throughout the state. He had been around the world, made at least two trips to the Hawaiian Islands, and had been to Alaska. Mr. Crockett was born in Wyandotte, Kan., Oct. 22, 1865, the son of Alison and Elizabeth Crockett. He was educated in private schools, at Oberlin University, Oberlin, O., and Vanderbilt University, where he won the founder's medal entitling him to four years' study. He held both Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Vanderbilt. He was a Phi Beta Kappa and a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity during his college years. In 1890 he was acclaimed Vanderbilt alumni poet, and a few years ago he published a volume of his own verse, “Poems at Random." In 1926 Mr. Crockett sought a seat in congress, but was defeated by Guy U. Hardy of Canon City. During his early years in Pueblo he taught at the Southern Methodist academy, and at times occupied church pulpits. In 1894 he was married to Miss Bessie M. Thompson of Nashville, Tenn. Mrs. Crockett died six years ago of injuries received in an automobile accident while she and Mr. Crockett were en route to Nashville, after a trip to Mexico. The couple had five children, three sons and two daughters. Surviving sons are Charles T. Crockett and Bay W. Crockett, of Pueblo. The daughters are Mrs. Karl Walter of Pueblo and Mrs. A. V. Dworak of Longmont. He was the grandfather of Wardner, Marianne and Tommy Crockett; Edmond and Alfred Dworak; Karl and Catherine Walter and Elizabeth Crockett. A son, Edmond, died several years ago. Mr. Crockett was active in his business until the middle of May, when his illness caused him to retire. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church; of the Mountain Field club; state agent for numerous fire insurance companies; a former president of the Chamber of Commerce; a former president of the Young Men's Christian association; a member of the Tuesday Evening club, Minnequa University club, and the Pueblo Golf and Country club. Mr. Crockett was one of the oldest members of the First Presbyterian church, and among the most active. He also was the founder of Camp Crockett, YMCA boys' camp at Rye. He donated the land for the camp site, and took an active part in establishing the camp.

Crockwell, Jerry Dale
Jerry Dale Crockwell - Pueblo Chieftain - September 22, 2005 - Beloved husband, son and father, Jerry Dale Crockwell, passed away on Sept. 20, 2005. He was born in Pueblo, Colo. to Dale (Bud) and Jean Crockwell. Jerry was a jazz drummer all of his life and was “One of the Cats.” He is survived by his wife, Suzi; his parents; his daughters, Dale and Dana and his grandson Dion. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, 1:00 p.m. at his home in Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. His music will live on in all of our hearts.

Crocombe, Irene Elizabeth
Irene Elizabeth Crocombe - Pueblo Chieftain - March 26, 2002 - Age 73, of Pueblo, passed away peacefully and gracefully surrounded by her loved ones on March 25, 2002. She was born on Aug. 1, 1928, in Long Beach, Calif., and as a child moved with her family to Plainview, Kan. Later, she moved to Pueblo, Colo., where she graduated from Central High School in 1945. After graduation, she worked at the Uptown Theater where she met her husband, Ken. The couple was married on Aug. 1, 1947, in Pueblo. She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi, Chapter CO Xi Master. Preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Vera Wiley; and brother, Jack Wiley. Irene leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 54 years, Ken, of the family home; children, Larry (Karla) Crocombe and Ron Crocombe, both of Pueblo; Sharon (Jonathan) Enabnit, Ventura, Calif., and Robin (Mike) Hopkins, Pueblo; grandchildren, Jason and Francesca Runco; step grandchild, Benjamin Hopkins, all of Pueblo; and brother, Max (Mary Jo) Wiley, Ocean Park, Wash. She is also survived by lifelong friends, Joe and Maryann Genova of Pueblo. The family wishes to thank Drs. James Stjernholm, Jack Boerner and the staff at St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center for their tender loving care. At her request, cremation and no services. The family would like to welcome friends to their home to celebrate the memory of Irene's life from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at 721 Arlen. Grace E. Crofford - Pueblo Chieftain - December 28, 1998 - Grace E. Crofford died Dec. 27, 1998, in Pueblo. She is predeceased by her husband, Cecil, in 1974, whom she married May 17, 1930, in Alamosa, Colo. Survived by children, Robert C. (Audrey) Crofford of Canon City, Joan E. (Thomas) Greenwood of Pueblo West and Shirley C. Weaver of Pueblo, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Born Jan. 18, 1909, in Colorado Springs, she lived most of her life in Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Canon City. A faithful member of the Free Methodist Church in Canon City, she was a regular attendee when able and volunteered her time and talents to her church. Funeral service, 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at the Free Methodist Church in Canon City with interment following at Lakeside Cemetery. (THE FOLLOWING RAN DEC. 29) Grace E. Crofford died Dec. 27, 1998. Mrs. Crofford is predeceased by a son, William G. Crofford in 1996 and a brother and a sister. Funeral service, 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at the Free Methodist Church with interment in Lakeside Cemetery, both in Canon City.

Croissant, Arthur
Arthur Croissant - Pueblo Chieftain - December 16, 2001 - Arthur Croissant, 83, passed away Dec. 12, 2001. Survived by his wife, Florence Croissant; children, Carol Rooney and Jehan (Mark) Zinanti, all of Pueblo; siblings, Emma Haas, Paul Croissant, Freda (Herman) Rady, Harvey (Clara) Croissant, all of Greeley; grandchildren, Gabriel Rooney, Kelsy Rooney, Tayler Zinanti and Hunter Zinanti. Preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Katherine Croissant; and seven brothers. Born Oct. 12, 1918, in Johnstown, Colo., and was a longtime Pueblo resident. He retired as the purchasing agent for the City of Pueblo, after many years of service. Member of the First United Methodist Church, National Purchasing Institute, National Association of Purchasing Management and the Rocky Mountain Purchasing Council. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church, 11th and Court, with the Rev. Jean Schwien officiating. Private interment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery. Those who desire may make memorials to the Sangre de Cristo Hospice, c/o the funeral home.

Florence Croissant - Pueblo Chieftain - August 15, 2004 - Florence Croissant, 79, passed away Aug. 13, 2004. Survived by her children, Carol Rooney and Jehan (Mark) Zinanti, both of Pueblo; grandchildren, Gabriel Rooney, Kelsy Rooney, Tayler Zinanti and Hunter Zinanti; sister-in-law, Dorothy Rutt of Greeley, Colo.; aunts, Leora Kern of Greeley and Esther (Ray) Becker of Fort Collins, Colo.; and numerous cousins. Preceded in death by her husband, Art Croissant, on Dec. 12, 2001; and brother, Harry Rutt. Florence was born to Kathryn and Charles Rutt on Jan. 27, 1925, in Johnstown, Colo. She was a bookkeeper for Vidmar Motor Company and a member of First United Methodist Church. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at Mountain View Cemetery with the Rev. George White officiating. The family respectfully requests the omission of flowers. Croll, Mary Ellen
Mary Ellen (Brown) Croll - Pueblo Chieftain - April 10, 2005 - Mary Ellen (Brown) Croll, 79, died Thursday morning at St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center after a long smoking-related illness. She had an intensive and varied career in nursing. She was director of the Gallup Indian Hospital Psychiatric Unit; she was director of the Anchorage Detox Center and spent the last 18 years in retirement living in Boone. She is survived by her husband James Croll; sons, Mike Brown of Florida and Mark Brown of Maryland; sister, Nancy Der of Virginia. She had a daughter, Suzanne, who preceded her in death from leukemia. There will be a memorial service, 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 12 at Ascension Episcopal Church, 18th and Grand.

Cronbaugh, Adeline Beth
Adeline Beth Stewart Cronbaugh - Pueblo Chieftain - January 18, 2002 - Passed away in the comfort of her home on Jan. 12, 2002. She was born July 11, 1924, in Denver, Colo. Adeline was a graduate of Centennial High School Class of 1942. Survived by her companion, George Sanchez; daughters, Shirley Goyen Whyte, Jeanne Cronbaugh and Betsy Phelps; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorial service, 1 p.m. Saturday, Imperial Funeral Home Chapel.

Cronk, Shawna
Shawna (Harp) Cronk - Pueblo Chieftain - June 01, 2000 - Shawna (Harp) Cronk, formerly of Pueblo, passed away May 22 in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born March 7, 1940, in Cedar Vale, Kansas, the daughter of Archie Harp and Violet (Harp) Pendley. Survivors include two sons, Shawn and Guy Cronk; two sisters, Donna (Sonny) Dazzio, Pueblo, Arlene White, Denver; five brothers, Jerry and Troy (Diane) Harp, both of Pueblo, Gary Harp, Hutchinson, Kansas, LeRoy (Cherie) Harp, Salina, Kansas, and Sonny Harp, Wichita, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her mother, Violet Harp; sister, Wanda Harp, and a niece, Lisa McNamara. The funeral services were held in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Cronkhite, Charles Douglas
Charles Douglas Cronkhite – Pueblo Chieftain – December 5, 1996 - Charles Douglas Cronkhite, 88, passed away Dec. 2, 1996. Survived by Irene Cronkhite his devoted wife of 64 years, son, Dr Gary (Jo Liska) Cronkhite of Bloomington, Ind.: daughters, Sharon (Clyde) Kate of Fergus Falls, Minn. Carol (Richard) Mortensen of Yakima, Wash.: sister, Ruth Linn: sister-in-law, Dorothy Wemette and Shirley Derry; seven grand-children and nine great-grand-children. His parents and five brothers and sisters preceded him in death. Charles was born Sept. 27, 1908, in Stanwood, Iowa. To Ethyl and Harry Cronkhite. As a resident of Pueblo for 52 years, he taught at Centennial High School until he retired. He was a member of Pueblo Free Methodist Church. He will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with Pastor Mark Hecht officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Cronkhite, Gary
Gary Cronkhite - Pueblo Chieftain - March 10, 2006 - Gary Cronkhite, 70, of Bloomington, Ind., born Sept. 21, 1935, died Jan. 28, 2006 in Bloomington. He was a professor at several universities beginning in 1964 and ending at Indiana University. He retired in 2003 from IU where he was employed from 1986 until 2003. He earned a bachelor's degree from Greenville College, a master's degree from Illinois State University, and a doctorate from the University of Iowa. He was a member of the National Communication Association, International Communication Association, Western Communication Association and the American Psychological Association. Survivors include two sons, Charles Richard Cronkhite and Todd Tyner Cronkhite; his mother, Irene Cronkhite; two sisters, Sharon Kale and Carol Mortenson; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Cronkhite. A memorial service will be held on March 12, 2006, at 3 p.m., at First Free Methodist Church, 2602 2nd Avenue, Pueblo, Colo.

Cronkhite, Velma Mae
Miss Velma Mae Cronkhite – Pueblo Chieftain – March 14, 1984 – Miss Velma Mae Cronkhite, Pueblo resident since 1944, passed away at a local nursing home March 13, 1984, after many years of uncomplaining suffering as an invalid. She is survived by her sisters and Elmer Cronkhite, Pueblo, Mrs. Berniece Jones, Stanwood, Iowa, Mrs. Ruth (Clarence) Linn, Tipton, Iowa, Mrs. Gladys Garloff, Spirit Lake, Minn., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was born on May 5, 1923, in Stanwood, Iowa. Graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Mountain View Cemetery, with the Rev. Charles R. Whitmer officiating. Those who so desire may make memorials to the National Arthritis Foundation through the funeral home office.

Albert "Bing" A. Crosby - Pueblo Chieftain - September 03, 2003 - Albert "Bing" A. Crosby, 84, went to be with the Lord Sept. 1, 2003, in Pueblo, Colo. Born April 9, 1919, in Kansas, to Frank and Adeline Crosby who preceded him. Survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Anna F. Crosby; sons, Rodney (Patricia) Crosby; brother, Charles (Fern) Crosby; and sister, Myrtle Tanner. Visitation, noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral service, 2 p.m. Thursday, Pueblo Christian Center. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens.

Crosby, Anna
Anna Crosby - Pueblo Chieftain - October 14, 2004 - Anna Crosby, 88, born March 10, 1916, to Dave and Catherine Walker, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 11, 2004. Preceded in death by her husband, Albert "Bing" A. Crosby in 2003. Anna was one of the last of 13 children. Anna is survived by her sister, Lois Henson; stepson, Ron (Patricia) Crosby; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all her family. Funeral service, 2 p.m. Saturday, Imperial Funeral Home Chapel.

Crosby, Dorothy L.
Dorothy L. Crosby - Pueblo Chieftain - December 17, 2002 - Dorothy L. Crosby, 81, went home on Dec. 13, 2002. She is proceeded in death by her husbands, Elmer T. Richie Jr., Fredrick M. Cook, and Robert L. Crosby; her parents, Harry and Nancy Carter Sr.; as well as her brothers and sisters. She is survived by children, Lois (Bobby) Martin, Sharon (Rod) Moore, Beverly (Dave) Johnson, and Kevin Crosby; eight grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by brother, Leslie (Kathy) Carter; and sister-in-law, Mildred Carter; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Dorothy attended Swallows School. In 1988, Dorothy retired from the Colorado State Hospital. She loved all kinds of animals and loved feeding the birds and watching the squirrels. She was an avid fisherman. She also enjoyed gardening, dancing, playing cards and bowling. Viewing, from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Adrian Comer Garden Chapel. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 at the chapel. Crosby, Lena J.
Lena J. Crosby - Pueblo Chieftain - March 09, 2004 - Lena J. Crosby, 85, a beautiful, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away on March 7, 2004. She was born Dec. 13, 1918, to Ed and Eunice Kyle, their second child. The family moved to Colorado from Kansas in 1925 and settled in Canon City, Colo. It was there that she met her husband of 63 years, Robert. Together they had two children, Leanna Crosby of Tucson, Ariz., and Roger (Louise) Crosby of Littleton, Colo. She is survived by her husband, children; and two grandchildren, Amanda and David Crosby of Denver, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Edgar Kyle of Colorado Springs. Lena's kind and gentle ways toward family and friends, as well as anyone in need, made her endearing to all. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and to serving God through her work in the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Rebecca Circle. Lena's positive attitude and loving ways will always be an inspiration to those who knew and loved her. At her request, there will be no viewing. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at First United Methodist Church, 310 W. 11th, with the Rev. Dr. Rick Calhoun and Hospice Chaplain Melinda Baber officiating. Crosby, Robert M.
Robert M. Crosby - Pueblo Chieftain - April 13, 2006 - Robert M. Crosby, 89. This very kind and gentle man passed away on April 10, 2006. Bob was completely devoted to his wife, Lena, his children and grandchildren, and he was a most loyal friend and neighbor. He was born in West Mineral, Kan., on Aug. 25, 1916, to Frank and Pearl Crosby. The family moved to Ca–on City, Colo., in 1926. It was there he met his wife of 63 years, Lena, who preceded him in death two years ago. Their devoted children, Leanna Crosby of Tucson, Ariz., and Roger (Louise) Crosby of Centennial, Colo., and their grandchildren, Amanda of Denver, Colo., and David of Sacramento, Calif., survive him. His parents and his two brothers preceded him in death. His sister, June, lives in Grants Pass, Ore. Bob was in the grocery business for nearly 50 years and loved to entertain his friends and strangers showing off his "old grocery collection" in his little museum behind their home. Bob made friends easily and kept them for life. For the last year of his life, Bob lived in Heritage Club Assisted Living in Englewood, Colo., where he continued to help others less able than he. Bob and Lena were active members of the First United Methodist Church since 1948 and they devoted many hours to helping others in their times of need. Cross, Harrel
Harrel Cross - Pueblo Chieftain - February 16, 2002 - Age 84, passed away Feb. 14, 2002. Survived by his wife of 32 years, Jo Alma Cross of the family home; sons, Lawson (Julie) Cross, LaBelle, Fla., and Crawford (Marsha) Cross, Hineville, Ga.; stepson, William (Nancy ) Nickell, Colorado City; stepdaughter, Treesa (Edmund) Francis, Pueblo; sisters, Jewell Hatchcox, Gainesville, Fla., Lora Mae Gerstman and Doris (Jimmy) Dara, both of LaBelle, Fla., and Fern (Thurston) Townsend, Kingston, Ark.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his brothers, Vernon, Rhonel and Herbert Cross; and one granddaughter. Harrel was born to Ben and Lillian Cross on Nov. 29, 1917, in LaBelle, Fla. He served his country in the U.S. Army-Air Corps during WWII. Harrel was a farmer and rancher for 62 years, until retiring in 1988. He was a member of LaBelle Florida Church of God. He will lie in state at the funeral home from noon until 5 p.m. Sunday. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Colorado City Cemetery, in Colorado City.

Cross, James A.
James A. Cross - Pueblo Chieftain - February 04, 2003 - James A. Cross, 75, passed away Jan. 31, 2003. Survived by his children, Michelle of Denver, Andrew of Atlanta, Ga., and Lisa of Craig, Alaska; siblings, Catherine Cross of Windsor, Colo., Charles V. Cross of El Dorado, Kan., Bette Becker of Sun City West, Ariz., Carol Landrum of Pawhuska, Okla., and Linda Shepherd of Pueblo; and eight grandchildren. James was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Virgil, Kan. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. James graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Denver in 1949 and a master's degree from San Jose State College in 1959. His distinguished career consisted of being a teacher, principal and superintendent of schools throughout Colorado, California and Alaska. He was also an administrator for several community organizations. At his request, there will be no viewing or services. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Interment will be held at a later date in Virgil, Kan. Those who desire may make memorials to the Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home.

Cross, Raymond Charles
Raymond Charles Cross - Pueblo Chieftain - October 02, 2000 - Raymond Charles Cross - Ray, 69, died September 27 2000 in Colorado Springs. He was a general contractor. Ray was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on February 2, 1931 to Hawley and Dora (Hoffman) Cross who are deceased. He married Reba Grace Burton on June 14, 1951. His oldest son, Hawley Ripley Cross, preceded him in death. Ray is survived by his sons, Raymond Lane Cross of Memphis, TN, and Nolan Perry Cross of Pueblo; a daughter, Donna Lisa Wagner, of Kansas City, MO. 7 grandsons: Hawley, Max, Tyler, Gareth, Charlie, Lionel and Mason, 2 granddaughters: Danielle and Reba, and great granddaughter, Camille. Ray and Reba, though divorced, ran the family business, Santa Fe Valley Corp. They owned the La Junta Nursing Home in La Junta, CO. for 16 years and remodeled hundreds of homes in the last 20 years. Ray grew up in La Junta, went to Denton Music College in Texas and studied business at Wichita University. Ray was a talented pianist and singer and his hobbies included magic, "slight of hand", dancing, chess, and playing games with his family and friends. Ray enjoyed his life and was loved and respected by his family and friends, and will be sadly missed. The family will be receiving guests Saturday, September 20, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the family home at 1312 East Fillmore in Colorado Springs.

Cross, Shelley Leah Holmes
Shelley Leah Holmes Cross - Pueblo Chieftain - May 25, 1998 - Shelley Leah Holmes Cross passed away May 20, 1998, in Denver following a lengthy illness. Shelley was born April 27, 1954, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She graduated from South High School in 1972 and earned an Associate Degree in Radiological Technology. Greg, her husband, and their daughters, Chelsey and Korie, of the family home in Aurora, Colo., survive Shelley. She is also survived by her parents, Clyde and Marian Holmes; her brother, Dan (Ca thy) Holmes; and her sister, Janet (Jim) McGee, all of Pueblo. Also survived by her parents-in-law, Rex and Iyonne Cross of Denver, and numerous other family members. Shelley, with her fun-loving, outgoing ways and contagious smile is greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Cremation has taken place at her request. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 27, 10 a.m., at Horan and McConaty Family Chapel, 3201 S. Parker Road in Aurora. Donations may be made in Shelley's name to the Multiple Sclerosis National Society.

Crouse, Fred
Fred Crouse - Huerfano World - September 9, 1999 - Fred Crouse, longtime La Veta resident, died September 6, 1999 in Truth or Consequences, NM, where he had made his home the past few years. Mr. Crouse owned the Muleshoe Lodge Restaurant and Bar on old La Veta Pass. Old-time dances were held there, almost every Saturday night. In La Veta, he was involved in many things, among them, he operated the old La Veta Theater and owned and operated the Silver Dollar Café and Bar, where the biggest and best steaks or hamburgers were served. Crow, Derrick Shane
Derrick Shane Crow - Colorado Springs Gazette – August 15, 2006 - Derrick Shane Crow, 40, passed away unexpectedly on August 9, 2006, in Colorado Springs, CO. He is survived by his wife Lynette Crow and his two daughters Hillerie and Whitley. He is also survived by his parents Pam and Gary Crow; grandparents Pinky and Mary Lou Williams; brother Keith (Jennifer) Crow and sister Sharon (Jay) Wilson; mother and father-in-law Nick and Judy Mousel; brothers-in-law Glen (Jo Nette) Pitman, Jay (Shelly) Pitman and Fred (Julie) Pitman, sister-in-law Becky Pitman. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. The oldest of three children, Derrick was born in Eads, CO on August 8, 1966. He graduated from Eads High School in 1984 and then attended the University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo earning a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Until recently, he worked for 12 years as VP of Solution Services for Optika/Stellant in Colorado Springs. In April 2005, he left the corporate world to pursue his own private business interests in real estate investing and stock market day trading. Derrick was hard working and extremely self motivated; a perfectionist in all areas of his life. His greatest joy was spending time with his family (especially his girls), whether it was vacationing in exotic locations or just spending quiet time at home. He also enjoyed hunting (with his faithful dog Harley by his side), fishing and hiking, and of course, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He had touched so many lives and will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Vista Grande Baptist Church, 5680 Stetson Hills Blvd., Colorado Springs with dinner to follow. Crowder, James Jr.
James Crowder Jr. - Pueblo Chieftain - September 05, 1997 - James Crowder Jr., 44, of Renton, Wash., formerly of Pueblo, died Sept. 3 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was predeceased by mother, Christine, father, James Sr., and brothers, Mickey and Danny. Jim was a very special man, husband, father, brother and friend. He had a kind heart and was easy to love. Jim will be sadly missed by his wife, Tonda, daughters, Kira and Rachel, of the family home, as well as twin daughters, Chrilese and Maranda. Jim also leaves to cherish his memory sisters, Jane (Jerry) Thomas and Peggy (Chuck) Herman of Pueblo, brothers, Sam (Sharon) Crowder and Tony Crowder of Washington, as well as numerous other friends and relatives.

Crowe, Helen Blanche Moore
Helen Blanche Moore Crowe - Pueblo Chieftain - June 02, 2005 - Helen Blanche Moore Crowe, passed away in Albuquerque, N.M., on May 31, 2005, at the age of 95. She was born in Monegaw Springs, Mo., June 23, 1909, and was the 11th of 13 children born to Robert Lee Moore and Minnie Amelia Puffenbarger Moore. They homesteaded in Haswell, Colo., in 1917. At age 17, she was employed at Fort Lyon Veteran's Hospital. She married Donald Alan Crowe in 1928, in Las Animas, Colo. They moved to Lamar, Colo., in 1933, after Don graduated from Capitol College of Pharmacy. They raised registered Herefords, and owned and operated the Corner Pharmacy from 1944 until 1968, when Don passed away. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lamar for more than 48 years. She was an active lifetime member of her beloved Presbyterian Church, and continued her faithful service when she moved to Albuquerque in 1981, with Covenant Presbyterian Church. In addition, she worked tirelessly and served as an officer or on the boards of the following organizations: Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls, Order of the Amaranth, Zonta International, Colorado Boys Ranch, Southeast Colorado Cowbelles, Lamar Women's Club, Colorado Women's Club, General Federation of Women's Club, Girl Scouts, Region No. 6, Comprehensive Medical Health Care Association, March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, Salvation Army, Prowers County Historical Society, and most recently, the Lew Wallace Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was very patriotic, and loved her country. Helen was a true suffragette. She broke barriers throughout her life by repeatedly becoming the "first woman to . . ." in both her church and civic clubs. She touched countless lives and all who knew her were truly blessed. Her husband, Don, and her grandson James Womack II, ,predeceased Helen. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Jeannie Crowe Womack; and son-in-law, James E. Womack, of Albuquerque, N.M.; her three grandchildren, Julie and Lavell Brown, Jenifer and Mark Jannakos and Jordan and Debbie Womack; and eight great-grandchildren, Kati, Carolyn, Stephen, Michael, Matthew, Margaret, Stacey and Trevor. Funeral service, 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2005, at the First Presbyterian Church, in Las Animas, with interment in Las Animas Cemetery. Family prefers memorials to the Colorado Boys Ranch in La Junta, Colo.

William Elwyn "Ike" Crowell - Pueblo Chieftain - June 01, 2000 - William Elwyn "Ike" Crowell passed away May 31, 2000, after a brief illness. He was born May 27, 1923, in Pueblo. Graduated from Central High School, Class of 1941. William served in the Air Force during World War II. Preceded in death by parents, William and Doris Crowell, and sisters; Willadean Bibb, Jackie Isaac, and Vivian M. Jones. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peggy B. Crowell; son, Edward R.(Virginia) Crowell of Pueblo; daughters, Carol (Nile) Knez of Keller, Texas, and Margery (Dave) Dudley of Pueblo; grandchildren; J.R. (Jennifer) Crowell, Brittani Crowell, Jennifer Patterson, Shawn (Shannon) Dowd, Michael Dudley, and Matthew Dudley; great-granddaughters; Ashley Patterson, Brittanie Dowd, and Brooke Crowell. William was a past master of Silver State Lodge No. 95 AFAM, for the past 50 years a member of Faith United Methodist Church, where he served in many offices, and past president of Railroading Sams. Survived by his loving wife, Verna Crowley of 33 years; daughter, Carolyn (George) Davis; son, David E. Simmons; grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) Purdy, Mathew Davis; one great-grandchild; brother, Elmer Crowley; and twin sister, Esther Grady. Preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Purdy.
