Earl W. Cottingham - Pueblo Chieftain - May 17, 2002 - Graveside memorial service, 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Imperial Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team.

Cottingham, Earl Wesley Jr.
Earl Wesley Cottingham Jr. - Pueblo Chieftain - December 30, 2001 - Earl Wesley Cottingham Jr., born Feb. 28, 1923, in Winfield, Kan., passed away Dec. 29, 2001, in Pueblo, Colo. He was a Pueblo Police Officer from Dec. 1, 1954, having retired on Dec. 24, 1979 after 25 years of service. Earl was a Veteran of the U.S. Marines having served in World War II and the Korean War. He was past president of the Pueblo Ham Club call No. KROK. He was also a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge No. 90, and past assistant scoutmaster of the Boy Scouts of America. Earl enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was selected to be on the Kansas All-State Football team for two years, from 1941 to 1942, and was the Kansas Heavyweight Wrestling Champion in 1942. Earl is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marian J. Cottingham; daughter, Julia K. Cottingham; son, Neil W. Cottingham; sister, Louise Haarstad of Abercrombie, N.D.; nephews, Douglas Haarstad and Arland Cottingham; great-nephew, Jeffrey Cottingham; uncle, Jesse Deichman of Winfield, Kan.; and numerous nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by his mother, Helen; father, Earl W.; and brother, Weldon. Per his request, cremation with no service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.

Cottingham, Marian J.
Marian J. Cottingham - Pueblo Chieftain - October 01, 2004 - Marian J. Cottingham, 80, born March 31, 1924, in Pueblo, Colo., passed away in her sleep in the early hours of Sept. 28, 2004. Preceded in death by her loving husband, retired police officer Earl W. Cottingham Jr. Survived by her eldest daughter, Julia Cottingham of Pueblo; son, Neil Cottingham of Denver; brother, Michael Davis of Denver; kin, Arland and Rhonda Cottingham of Pueblo; niece, Leslie Van Hazel of Broomfield; and nephew, Rick Hendren of Woodland Park. Marian was a Girl Scout troop leader and Cub Scout den mother. She was former president of Parkview Elementary and Parent Teacher Association, past member of Pueblo Ham Radio Club and the 9-Tee's Golf League. Marian graduated from Centennial High School class of 1942, and was retired from the Pueblo Army Depot. Marian visited Cripple Creek where she enjoyed her past time behind the slot machines, which gave her many pleasurable moments. She also had an appreciation for the solitude of fishing and bird watching. Marian was a wonderful lady who will be remembered and missed by her extended family and friends. Memorial service, 10 a.m. Saturday, Imperial Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment, Imperial Memorial Gardens.

Couey, Paul Sr.
Paul Couey Sr. – Albuquerque Journal – September 4, 1999 - Paul Couey Sr., 87, died on August 31, 1999 in Tulsa, Oklahoma of complications associated with Alzheimer's Disease. Paul was born in Trinidad, Colorado in 1912, and received his Bachelor's degree from San Diego State University, where he studied as a concert pianist. He married Thelma Smith in July, 1943, and they had two children, Paul Jr., born in 1944 and Jan, born in 1947. He served as a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy during World War II and went on to serve with the Veteran's Administration as an adjudicator. He and his wife moved to Albuquerque in 1946, where they raised their two children, were charter members of Immanuel Presbyterian Church, and spent their retirement years. He was preceded in death by his wife and son. He is survived by his daughter, Jan of Tulsa, her two children, Greg, a senior at the University of Kansas, and Stephanie, a freshman at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. He is also survived by his son's two children, Kelly Parker of Owasso, OK and Kristen Jowers of Alexandria, VA; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A private Memorial service is being held on September 4, at First Presbyterian Church, in Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to the Alzheimer's Association.

Coughlin, Thomas J.
Thomas J. Coughlin - Denver Post - May 24, 1994 - Thomas J. Coughlin Appraiser, 69 - Thomas J. Coughlin of Fort Lupton, a mortgage loan appraiser, died Thursday. He was 69. A memorial service will be tomorrow at Coughlin Arena in Fort Lupton. Interment will be in Morrison Cemetery. He was born Aug. 13, 1924, in Walsenburg. On Nov. 10, 1949, he married Mary Lee Schrock in Lakewood. Coughlin served in the Army Air Forces during World War II. He graduated from Pueblo Central High School and the University of Denver. He was past president of Colorado National Mortgage. He was a resident of Welby and later moved to Fort Lupton. He was a professional rodeo cowboy. Coughlin was past president of the Denver Realty Board, Adams County Fair and Rodeo Association and Society of Real Estate Appraisers. He was a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Tim J., Thornton, and Jody, Brighton; a brother, William, Pueblo; a sister, Margaret Kirsch, Mount Angel, Ore.; and three grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the Christian Cowboy Athletes Association.

Coulson, James
James "Wade" Coulson - Pueblo Chieftain - October 17, 1997 - James "Wade" Coulson, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 16, 1997. Lovingly remembered by his family as Super Dad." Wade was an early morning person, having spent many years delivering milk for Sinton Dairy, where he retired. During those years when waitresses saw him coming, they would put on the pancakes, sausage and eggs, his favorite breakfast menu while on the road. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in 1987. Survived by children, Robert (Fran), Janice (Harlow) Medill, Peggy (Alvin) Russell, Lois (Dean) Avara, John (Bobbie), Forrest, Mary (Charlie Reynolds), Nancy Coulson Brooks, Bruce (Suzanne), Glenda (Dwight) Flowers. Also survived by 28 grandchildren- numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and very special friend, Edith Hobbs. Visitation, 1-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. David F. Coulter - Pueblo Chieftain - December 21, 2006 - David F. Coulter, 78, of Rocky Ford, formerly of Fountain, Colo., passed away Dec. 19, 2006, in Denver, Colo. He worked in the construction industry, operating heavy equipment. After retiring, he moved to Rocky Ford and was engaged in farming. Survived by his wife, Alice of the family home; children, Jolene (Joe) Davis, Rockville, Md., Bill Coulter, Hayden, Colo., and Rod (Jodell) Coulter, Canon City; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Elizabeth Ann Counts - Pueblo Chieftain - August 12, 2003 - Elizabeth Ann Counts, 63, Pueblo. Passed away Aug. 9, 2003, of cancer. Survived by her husband, Tom; sons, John and Jeff Carr; sister, Margaret Muirhead; and her mother, Bernalda Hutchinson. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Amy and Allison Carr. A family service will be held graveside at 10:30 a.m., at Roselawn, on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003. A reception will follow at the family home. Memorial contributions can be sent to Sangre De Cristo Hospice.

Courtney, Alice
Alice Courtney - Pueblo Chieftain - April 22, 2006 - Alice Courtney, 84, passed away April 21, 2006. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Courtney; son, Bill Courtney; and her parents, John and Irene Meek. Survived by her children, John (Pam) Courtney, Kent, Wash., Maryruth (Brad) Moore and Lisa (Barry) Brown, both of Pueblo; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a special friend of the family, Jeanne Cook of Minnesota. Alice was a foster mother and took care of over 100 children during her life. She also loved to dance. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home office. Private service will be held.

Courtney, John Samuel
John Samuel Courtney - Denver Rocky Mountain News - August 10, 2000 - John Samuel Courtney, 64, of Littleton died Aug. 6. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at St. James Presbyterian Church, 3601 W. Belleview Ave. Mr. Courtney was born in Walsenburg on April 25, 1936. He married Theora Mae Dunckley, 1956. He was a retired business owner. He was a member of Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife; son Don of California; daughters Cindy Graybeal of Littleton, Colleen Courtney-Tofts of Aurora, Cheryl Juergens of Fort Collins; five grandchildren.

Theodore "Ted" B. Courtney - Pueblo Chieftain - February 10, 2000 - Theodore "Ted" B. Courtney, 85, went to be with the Lord Feb. 8, 2000, in Pueblo. Survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Alice Courtney, of the family home; daughters, Maryruth (Brad) Moore and Lisa (Barry) Brown, both of Pueblo; son, John (Pam) Courtney of Kent, Wash.; five grandchildren; and a special family friend, Pastor Travis Judkins and family. Preceded in death by son, William "Bill" Albert Courtney. Mr. Courtney retired from Pueblo Army Depot as a warehouse supervisor. Visitation, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. Courtright, Claiborne L.
Claiborne L. Courtright - Pueblo Chieftain - September 18, 2005 - Claiborne L. Courtright, 81, a longtime Pueblo dermatologist, died April 7, 2005. The plane crash was found Aug. 5, 2005, on a bluff of the beautiful Gore Canyon of the Colorado River, S.W. of Kremmling. The coroner's long and difficult investigation has finally been completed. The remains will be cremated. There will be no public service at Clay's request. Memorials may be made to the Colorado Search and Rescue Board, at 7645 N. Union Blvd No. 424, Colorado Springs, CO 80920, The Greenway and Nature Center, or the charity of your choice.

Courtright, Richard F.
Richard F. Courtright - Pueblo Chieftain - February 1978 - Richard F. Courtright, late of La Veta, passed away February 1, 1978. Husband of Mrs. Lorraine Courtright; father of Richard Alan Courtright, Golden, Mrs. Nina Frances Fidler, Oklahoma City, Okla., Mrs. Janet Dency Olson, Northglenn, and Mrs. Jacqueline Mae Olsen, Olivebridge, N.Y.; brother of Mrs. Ruby Wright, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Earl Courtright, Stillwater, Okla. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Born Oct. 4, 1912, in Tupper Lake, N.Y., to Oliver and Exilda Garrow who preceded her in death along with her husband, Albert I. Couture; infant daughter, two sisters, one brother, three grandsons and one granddaughter. Survived by children, Albert (Bobbie) Couture of Pueblo, Gladys Krzysiak of Essexville, Mich., W.J. (Bill) Couture of Pueblo, Robert (Marian) Couture of San Angelo, Texas, Joseph (Sally) Couture, of Miami, Ariz., Esther Studds of Portsmouth, Va., Paul (Ruth) Couture of Hot Springs, Ark., David Couture of Pueblo, Thomas Couture of Chesapeake, Va., Daniel (Karen) Couture of Pueblo, Michael (Carol) Couture, of Bloomingdale, Ill.; 35 grandchildren; and 50 great-grandchildren. Patricia Adele Cover - Pueblo Chieftain - May 31, 1999 - Patricia Adele Cover, a longtime resident of Pueblo, born Sept. 19, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., passed away May 30, 1999. Preceded in death by husband, Durbin P. Cover. Survived by children, Kathleen (Barrett) Koller, Tim (Isabel) Cover, Janice Johnson, Jim (Sheila) Cover, Mary Pat (Greg) Johnson, John (Carolyn) Cover and Danny (Christine) Cover. Also survived by 11 grandchildren. Mrs. Cover was a registered nurse and worked at Minnequa Medicenter from 1976 until1998. She enjoyed golf, swimming, spending time with family and friends and attending her grandchildren's many activities. Coverdell, Roy F.
Roy F. Coverdell - Pueblo Chieftain - August 08, 2004 - Roy F. Coverdell, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 5, 2004. Born Sept. 4, 1916, in Tingley, Iowa, to Sam and Mabel Coverdell, who preceded him; along with his wives, Frances and Nancy; brothers, Sloan Coverdell; and sister, Vera Lutz. Survived by son, Jerry (Barbara) Coverdell of Pueblo; stepsons, Harold (Dorothy) Burdick of Boulder, Ray (Merriellen) Burdick of Centennial, Colo., Larry (Doretha) Burdick of Boulder, and Lauren (Lee) Burdick of St. George, Utah; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Coverdell served in the Army in World War II, Army Corp of Engineers, Manhattan Division. He was a farmer-rancher in Bent County for many years and later moved to Boulder, where he worked at Longmont Turkey Plant and at Celestial Seasoning as an engineer. He then retired to Arizona, later moving to Pueblo in 1994, where he enjoyed all things to do with agriculture and visiting with family and friends. Richard L. "Dick" Covey - Pueblo Chieftain - April 23, 2006 - Richard L. "Dick" Covey, 77, passed away April 21, 2006. Survived by his wife, Phyllis E. Covey of the family home; children, Diane (Floyd) Roach of Blair, Okla., and Gina (Dr. Wallace) Ward of Burley, Idaho; stepmother, Helen M. Covey of Deming, N.M.; grandchildren, Sean Roach of Blair, Okla., Ann (Pedro) Canales of Amarillo, Texas, Jack Roach of Edmond, Okla., Katherine (Mark) Munt of Salt Lake City, Utah, and John Ward of Denton, Texas; sister, Susan (Robert) Moon of Grand Junction, Colo.; brother-in-law, Ralph Leonard; and sister-in-law, Judy Covey, both of Arvada, Colo. Many treasured nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Jamie and Carrie Covey; brother, Garry V. Covey; and sister, Joyce Leonard. Dick was born Jan. 11, 1929, in Pueblo. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Dick retired as a market analyst from Rocky Mountain Steel (formerly CF&I). Dick was a "Super-Dad" for many reasons but especially for his involvement with his daughters' scouting trips. He enjoyed photography and woodworking. Cowen, Marilyn S.
Marilyn S. Cowen - Pueblo Chieftain - June 10, 2002 - Marilyn S. Cowen, 62, Brighton, formerly of Pueblo, passed away June 6, 2002, at the Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton, Colo. Marilyn was born March 12, 1940, in McAlester, Okla., to Lloyd G. McAlpine and Charlotte Murphy. She attended Pueblo Centennial High School. Before moving to Brighton a year ago, she spent her entire life since the age of four in Pueblo and worked for numerous retail stores in Pueblo, including Fashion Bar and Sears. Marilyn loved cheering for the Broncos, spending time with her grandkids and helping others. Marilyn took care of her father until her own health prohibited her abilities. Survived by father, Lloyd G. McAlpine, Pueblo; daughters, Patricia (Ray) Rael, Brighton, Susan (Bob) Richards, Pueblo, Cynthia Gomez, Pueblo, Kristina (Michael) Gramm, Fountain; brothers, Lloyd D. (Irene) McAlpine, San Bernardino, Calif., William P. McAlpine, Pueblo; sisters, Diana Jones, Kannapolis, N.C., Carolyn (Steve) Hunsaker, Myakka City, Fla.; and numerous friends and family. Cowgill, Frank D. Jr.
Frank D. Cowgill Jr. - Pueblo Chieftain - November 04, 2001 - Frank D. Cowgill Jr., 65, passed away Nov. 2, 2001, after a lengthy illness. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank Sr. and Marguerite Cowgill. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Phyllis of the family home; children, Victoria (Wade) Fisher of Baytown, Texas, Antonette Grubbs of Denver, Colo., Frank D. Cowgill III of Pueblo, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Cowgill. Also survived by grandchildren, Alexandra Grubbs, Sybastian Cowgill, Carson Fisher and Russell Fisher; sisters, Marguerite Gray and Judith Papish; and numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was born March 22, 1936, in Denver, Colo., he later moved to Pueblo with his family and graduated from the Pueblo Catholic High School in 1954. In 1969, Frank and his wife purchased the Creditors Exchange Inc. He owned and operated it until his illness would no longer allow him to. In 1984, he became part owner of the Durango Credit and Collections Inc. Frank was the past president and 30-year member of Pueblo Easter Seal Society, also the past president of the Western Collector Conference, and the Associated Collection Agency Inc. Colorado-Wyoming. He was also a member of the Urban Renewal Development, the Pueblo Eagle's Lodge No. 145 and the B.P.O.E. No. 90. The family would like to thank the hospice staff for their care and compassion, also a special thank you to Cheryl Eurich and Virginia Chamberlain. Visitation, 2 to 8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at the funeral home. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at St. Pius X Church. Cremation to follow Mass. Frederick E. Cowing - Huerfano World - November 14, 2002 - This Week in Walsenburg History - 1950: Died, Frederick E. Cowing, 94, a resident of Walsenburg since 1879 when he opened a mercantile business where Star Grocery is now.

Cowing, Frederick Jr.
Frederick Cowing Jr. - Walsenburg World - April 21, 1922 - Death of Walsenburg Citizen, Frederick Cowing Jr. - Word was received here Wednesday that Frederick E. Cowing Jr., aged 18 years died at the St. Mary's hospital in Pueblo, about 11 a.m. Wednesday. Frederick has been receiving treatment at the hospital for some time but little hope had been forth for his recovery. He is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Cowing. The body was brought home Thursday afternoon from the United Davis-Vories chapel and services held at the home of the deceased. Funeral services were private and friends were requested to omit flowers.

Cowles, Albert
Albert Cowles – Pueblo Colorado Weekly Chieftain – February 12, 1880 – Albert Cowles, who for some time past has been employed as messenger in the Western Union telegraph office in this city, died at the residence of his father in East Pueblo, on Wednesday afternoon, after an illness of a few days.  He was taken ill on Friday last, and his friends thought the sickness of no importance until the day previous to his death.  He was a boy of good habits, and a great favorite with the employes of the office.

Cowling, Burrel Dean
Burrel Dean Cowling - Pueblo Chieftain - August 08, 1999 - Burrel Dean Cowling This is in loving memory of a father, a mentor, and a friend, Burrel Dean Cowling, born Nov. 16, 1927, in Campo, Colo., and taken from us on Aug. 2, 1999, in Salida. Papa, although not by blood, my true father you were. You took me into your heart and loved me tremendously. You taught me courage and passion, faith and kindness. You showed me how to be independent and generous. Your love and understanding will continue with me throughout my life. You were all I had, all I needed. I miss you deeply, but I know in my heart that you are finally at peace. The Lord has called you to his side and you will no longer suffer from pain or sorrow. Good journey, Papa. I love you. Sandi. L. Cowperthwaite – Central City Evening Call – February 19, 1878 – Died in Pueblo, February 15, L. Cowperthwaite, aged 52 years.

Cox, Allen B.
Allen B. Cox - Colorado Springs Gazette - January 15, 1996 - Allen B. Cox, 82, died Jan. 12, 1996, at a local hospital. He was an aircraft mechanics inspector who retired from AMI Inc. of Colorado Springs. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Gardens, 3825 Airport Road, with the Rev. Gaylord Hatler officiating. Swan-Law Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Mr. Cox was born April 19, 1913, in Lawton, Okla., to Guy and Oakley (Ray) Cox. He was married May 1, 1947, in Colorado Springs to Gussie W. Davis, who lives in Colorado Springs. He is also survived by a sister, Ealine Lehman of Pueblo. Mr. Cox served as an engineer in the Army from 1940 to 1945, attaining the rank of sergeant. He was awarded the Good Conduct, the Asiatic Pacific Service and the American Defense Service medals. Beatrice "Marie" Cox - Pueblo Chieftain - January 08, 2003 - Beatrice "Marie" Cox, 80, joined her husband, Ralph Cox, on Jan. 6, 2003, in heaven on what would have been their 60th anniversary. Ralph preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1973. Also preceded in death by her parents, Dora and Orville Younger; sisters, Bessie Graves and Esther Awbrey; and brother, Dewey Younger. Survived by her children, Terry (Vic) Reinert-Zupancic, Pam (Jim) Shiner, David (Marline) Cox, all of Pueblo, Becky Cox of Lakewood, Colo., and Mark (Lounell) Cox of Alabama; grandchildren, Chuck (Catherine) Reinert and Edwin (Janette) Reinert , Cheryl (Dan) Nelson, Lisa (Tom) Dace, Timothy and Stephen Shiner, Nicole Cox and Robin Rider; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Cora (Harold) Lane and Florence Dyke; numerous nieces and nephews; and faithful friend, Frances Kidder. Beatrice was born July 26, 1922, in Pueblo. She took great joy in serving as a foster grandparent for Spanish Peaks Mental Health Center where she was know as "Grandma Bea." She loved God, her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, dancing and helping others. Beatrice was a longtime member of First Church of the Nazarene and Eagles Aerie No. 145. Kemp, Prosper, Texas, Ronald Wood, Mission Viejo, Calif., Lynette M. Tomlin, Aurora. Also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, and sister, Dorothy Cox Banda of Arizona. He operated a service station for several years before going to work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a fireman and engineer, retiring with 33 years of service. Earl B. Cox - Pueblo Chieftain - February 23, 2000 - Earl B. Cox, 90, passed away Feb. 21, 2000. Survived by his daughter, Joanne Amidon of Aurora; grandchildren, Bill Bone, Phyllis Kent, Russell Bone, Thomas Bone and Joseph Bone; 10 great-grandchildren; and his dog, Tug, who was his faithful companion. Preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia J. Cox, on March 11, 1997; and brothers. Born Feb. 13, 1910, in Audrain County, Mo. Earl retired from D&RGW and worked 15 years at Johnson Hardware. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Member of First Presbyterian Church, United Transportation Union #32 and a 30-year member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #90. At his request, there will be no viewing. Mrs. Ellen C. Cox - Pueblo Chieftain - April 1926 - Mrs. Ellen C. Cox, Pioneer of Pueblo County, Dies in Bayfield, Colorado - Another pioneer of Pueblo County, Mrs. Ellen C. Harrington Cox, passed away at the home of her daughter at Bayfield, Colo. on March 25, 1926. Mrs. Cox was born at White Dove, Wis. (to Olney and Hannah Eldred Harrington) on March 16, 1844.  She came to Colorado in 1869 with her husband, James Bonley Cox, better known to many as Finn Cox, and a brother of the wife of Senator George M. Chilcott.  They settled first at the old Chilcott ranch at Nyberg, east of the city, later removing to the Burnt Mill section, southwesterly from Pueblo, where they resided for over 40 years, her husband preceding her in death 27 years ago. The family has been intimately connected with the pioneering and livestock interests of this section. She leaves four children, Sherman Cox, associated with the Thatcher Cattle company, Wade Cox, who removed to California some years ago, Claude Cox, and Mrs. Frank (Birdie) Steele, who removed to Bayfield, Colo. some years ago at which latter place Mrs. Cox joined her daughter five years ago. She will be recalled to older residents of Pueblo County as "Grandma" Cox. The burial will take place at Burnt Mill in the private lot of the Cox family where "Grandaddy" John Cox and "Granny" Liddy (Lydia Chastain) Cox, parents of Finn Cox, are also buried, they having come to Pueblo by wagon train in 1866.

Fern Delores Cox - Pueblo Chieftain - January 04, 2000 - Fern Delores Cox, 76, passed away Jan. 2, 2000. Born May 3, 1923, in Pueblo. Survived by daughters, Ilona (Stephen) Millison, Rosemary Richardson, Pamala (David) McConnel; son, Alford (Pat) Cox; grandchildren, Renee Millison, Rachelle Martin, Kevin (Sherri) Richardson, Micki (Jim Yengich), Mike (Lisa) McConnel and Nickolas Cox. Six great-grandchildren also remain to cherish her memory. In addition, she is survived by her loving father, Elmo Cranford; sister, Edith Cape; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and special Laughlin, Nev., friends, Eve Schroeder and Warren and Wanda Mitchell. Predeceased by husband, Albert Cox; mother, Ethel Cranford; and brother, Wesley Cranford. Fern was born and raised in Pueblo, starting her formative years at Lime. She retired from the Pueblo Army Depot in 1973. After retiring, she spent many happy hours with her family at her summer home in Pitkin, Colo. She and her husband moved to Laughlin, Nev., to spend the winter months in 1981, but they always returned to Pueblo for the summers. Fern was an avid bowler for many years while living here and was a longtime member of American Legion Ovie Vernon Post #2. Visitation, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday. James Bonley Cox - Pueblo Chieftain - December 25, 1899 - J. B. Cox, Sunday, December 24, 1899, aged 60 years. Funeral will be held from his ranch on the St. Charles, twenty miles southwest of Pueblo, Tuesday at 2 p.m. Pueblo Chieftain - December 28, 1899 - J.B. (James Bonley) Cox - On Christmas Eve, the spirit of J.B. Cox, familiarly known as "Fin", took its flight and today both his immediate family and Clay and Scott Chilcott are especially mourning his demise.  Twelve years ago Christmas Eve, his only sister, Mrs. G(eorge) M. (Jenny) Chilcott, died and necessarily this calls to the memory of her sons, the loss of their mother and causes them to feel more keenly the loss of their uncle.  The deceased was born in Morgan County, Ill., 60 years ago.  He came to Colorado in 1866 and has resided continuously in this county and state since.  He leaves a wife, three sons, and one daughter to mourn his death (Sherman, Wade, Claude, and Birdie Steele).  Politically, "Finn" had always been a staunch Democrat and was at one time county assessor of Pueblo County, filling this responsible office with great credit to himself and later was elected to the Legislature, acquitting himself with honors, introducing several important bills.  "Finn" Cox was generous to a fault, and his friends were legion in every walk of life!  He was known, honored and loved.  Today and in years to come many will miss and mourn his death.  His brother-in-law, Will Harrington, will be present to attend the funeral, coming from Tekamah, Neb. The funeral services will be held tomorrow from his home on the St. Charles.

Kenneth D. Cox – Pueblo Chieftain – September 26, 2006 - Kenneth D. Cox, 81, passed away Sept. 23, 2006. He was born in Forestburg, Texas, on June 9, 1925, to Dr. G.W. and Mrs. Cora Cox. Ken is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Sally"; three children, Kendra (Steve) Benson of Midland, Texas, Kristen (John) Coleman of San Rafael, Calif., and Charles R. Cox of Fort Collins, Colo.; grandsons, Paul (Jennifer) Benson and Grant (Jami) Benson, both of Midland, Texas; granddaughters, Silencia Cox, Zenna Cox and Jasmin Cox, all of Fort Collins, and Emma Coleman of San Rafael, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Connor Benson, Koltyn Benson and Akaysha Cox; sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Cox of Wichita Falls, Texas; and several nieces and nephews in Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Pete Cox; and sister, Loveta Bewley. He went to school in Forestburg, Texas, and joined the Army in 1943, and was honorably discharged in 1945 with a Purple Heart after serving in Italy. Ken retired from then-Colorado State Hospital in 1984, with 36 years of service as a psych tech and later a Mental Health Worker II after earning an AA Degree from Southern Colorado State College-Pueblo. Ken was a 32nd Degree Mason and past master of Silver State Lodge No. 95, a member and master of the Kodash Consistory, and a member of Al Kaly Shrine. Visitation, 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, funeral service, 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006; both at Montgomery & Steward Chapel, 1317 N. Main, with the Rev. Suzanne D'Spain officiating. Robert Cox - Pueblo Chieftain - December 15, 1946 - Robert Cox, Former Grocer, Passes Away - Robert Cox of Ordway, former Pueblo grocer, died Friday at a local hospital. Mr. Cox lived in Pueblo for about 30 years and 20 years of that time operated a grocery store here.  He moved to Ordway in 1942. He came to Pueblo for medical treatment about 2 weeks ago. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Adah Cox of Ordway; a son Robert B. Cox of Twin Falls, Idaho; a daughter, Jo Ann Cox of Pueblo; and two brothers, George Cox of Greeley and John Cox of Salida.  He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows at Salida. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Monday in the chapel of the George F. McCarthy Funeral Home.  Interment will be made in Roselawn Cemetery.

Robert Lee Cox - Huerfano World - December 23, 1993 - Robert Lee Cox, 72, of Colorado Springs, formerly of La Veta, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1993. Born July 13, 1921, he attended Garden City, TX, High School and Baylor University in Waco, TX. He served in the Army Air Corps as a corporal from 1942 to 1946 with the 40th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron. Mr. Cox was awarded the American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He married Nola Mae Goss in La Veta on July 6, 1947 and they had lived in Colorado Springs since 1959. Mr. Cox was a member of the Baptist Church, served as Brotherhood President and was an honorary deacon and taught Sunday school. He is survived by his wife, Nola Mae, Fountain; two daughters, Cynthia Lee Livingston, Stafford, VA, and Natalie Mae Henderson, Fountain; a brother, Buster Cox, Marfa, TX; two sisters, LaNell Baker, Colorado Springs and Mary Falk, La Veta and three grandchildren. Funeral service was from Fountain Valley Baptist Church. Burial was in La Veta Cemetery.

Samuel Lee Cox - La Veta Signature - February 14, 1991 - Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 6th at Mountain View Baptist Church in La Veta. Lee Cox, 97, of Colorado Springs formerly of La Veta died late Sunday, February 3, 1991, in Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs where he had been a patient for a short time following a stroke. Born in Tulia, TX, November 10, 1893, to Sam R. and Marietta Cox, he was raised and educated in Garden City, TX. He married Sina A. Humble January 30, 1918 and ranched there until they moved near La Veta in 1946. There they owned and operated a ranch. In 1948, they moved into La Veta, where they made their home. He is survived by four children - Mary Falk, La Veta; La Nell Boker, Colorado Springs; and Sam "Buster" Cox, Marfa, TX. A sister, Dimple Currie, Midland TX; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews.

Also preceded by her husband, Robert C. Cox; and brother, John L. Duran. Survived by her sons, Michael and Steven (Cheryl) Cox, Pueblo; daughters, Robin (Chip) Peterson, Seattle, Wash., Judy (Jim) Zuber, Colorado Springs, and Lori Gonzales, Pueblo; grandchildren, Ashley, Kirsten, Derrick, James, Donovan, Steven and Taylor; sisters, Rose (Abe) Martinez and Shirley (Art Minner) Clark; numerous nieces and nephews; and all her friends, especially Jean Rosales. She retired from District 60 food service in 1994 after 21 years of service. She taught first-grade religious education at St. Francis Xavier where she was also involved with the religious education committee and the parish festival. She raised all the children in the neighborhood who lovingly called her “Mama Cox.” Violet and Bob celebrated their 50th anniversary July 28, 2001. William R. Cox - Pueblo Chieftain - May 26, 1944 – Funeral Saturday for William R. Cox - Funeral services for Cpl. William R. Cox, who was killed last Friday in a plane crash near Tonopah, Nev., will be held at the Rouch funeral home Saturday at 2 p.m., with Chaplain Pellett from the Pueblo air base officiating. Folding of the flag and sounding of taps will follow at the graveside at Roselawn cemetery. Cpl. Cox, who was born and educated in Pueblo, after his graduation from Central high school with the class of '35 and until his entrance into the rod mill of the Colorado Fuel & Iron corp. Cpl. Cox, whose home was at 2319 Cedar, is survived by his widow, Stella; daughter, Carolyn and son, Billie Jr.; and his sisters, Mrs. E. S. Johnson, of Los Angeles and Mrs. Lloyd Patterson of Redondo Beach, Calif. Cpl. Cox enlisted in the U.S. Army, in March of 1943. Prior to his death, he had been stationed at Tonopah, Nev., where he was a member of Squadron T-1-422nd AAFBU. He was a member of the Methodist church.

Arthur B. "Killer" Coy - Pueblo Chieftain - December 28, 1997 - Arthur B. "Killer" Coy, affectionately known as Jonathan," Pueblo resident, passed away Dec. 23, 1997. A United States veteran, life member of BPOE Lodge No. 90 and volunteer for the West Park Volunteer Fire Department. He retired from the CF&I following 40 years of service. Mr. Coy will be remembered by his family and friends for his kindness and generosity to all with whom he came into contact. Later, she was a bank clerk for 30 years for First National Bank of Trinidad. She was born on August 23, 1914 in Aguilar, Colo. to Angelo Cacciatore and Grazia Massari . She was married on September 13, 1936 to Tony Cozzetti at St. Anthony's Parish. Carmella was a lifetime resident of Aguilar. She was a wonderful wife and homemaker. She loved being around her family and friends. She attended services faithfully at St. Anthony's Parish. Alfred Cozzetto - Pueblo Chieftain - March 02, 2005 - Alfred Cozzetto, 79, passed away Feb. 27, 2005. Survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marie Cozzetto; son, Alfred James (Laurie); daughter, Alice Cozzetto; grandchildren, AJ and Dominic; and best friend, Jaco. Alfred was born and raised in Aguilar, Colo. He retired from the CF&I after 38 years of service. Visitation, 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at Imperial Funeral Home. Rosary, 7 p.m. Thursday, and funeral service, 10 a.m. Friday; both at Imperial Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment, Imperial Memorial Gardens.

Cozzolino, Julia
Julia Cozzolino - Pueblo Chieftain - July 17, 2003 - Julia Cozzolino, lifetime Pueblo resident, passed away July 15, 2003, at the age of 90. Julia was a member of Christ the King Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Sam Cozzolino Sr.; brother, Ralph Porco; and sisters, Jenny Querico, Florence Padula, Esther Pisciotta and Yolanda Rocco. She is survived by her son, Sam (Kathy) Cozzolino Jr.; grandsons, Brent (Kori) Cozzolino, Kevin (Deanna) Cozzolino and Greg Cozzolino; great-grandchildren, Cade, Cody, Zachery and Kaitlyn Marie Cozzolino; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Julia will be very greatly missed by the family to which she devoted her life. Viewing, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Rosary prior to funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Friday, Christ the King Church. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of food and flowers, donations may be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice or to Mass Intentions in care of Christ the King Church in Julia's memory.

Nancy Irene Cozzolino - Pueblo Chieftain - April 26, 2005 - Nancy Irene Cozzolino, 60, passed away April 22, 2005. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Catherine Swick; brother, George Swick Jr.; and her grandparents, Cloyd and Irene Reed. Survived by her children, Daniel T. (Katie) Cozzolino, Nevada, Gary Cozzolino Jr. and Jerry Dean Cozzolino, both of Pueblo; father of her children, Gary Cozzolino Sr.; grandchildren, Christina, Ashlee Irene and Kragen Dean Cozzolino; sisters, Judy (Bill) Fritzel, Denver, Colo., and Becky Swick, Pueblo; brothers, Donald (Sherry) Swick, Pueblo, Bob (Debbie) Swick, Denver, and Jimmy Swick, California; special niece, Vicky Daughtry; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Nancy owned Nancy's Window Coverings and was in the carpet and window business for the past 40 years. She was a devoted mother, loved to cook and was an avid Elvis Presley fan. Visitation, 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Wednesday, St. Joseph Church. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery. Family will greet friends at 3832 Devonshire after the interment. Those who wish may make donations to the American Heart Association in her memory through the funeral home office.
