Colaizzi, Emma Gene
Emma Gene Colaizzi – Albuquerque Journal – December 19, 2000 - Emma Gene Colaizzi was born on January 30, 1908 in Segundo, Colorado passed away on Sunday December 17, 2000 at the age of 92. She lived in Dawson for many years and worked in the office at the Dawson store before moving to Raton, where she served as Colfax Deputy County Treasurer for 12 years and Colfax County Treasurer for 4 years. Emma moved to Santa Fe from Raton in 1962. She retired from the State Highway Department in Santa Fe. Her parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Lena Forte; brother-in- law, Anthony Forte; her nephew, Ron Forte and wife, Pashella; niece, Barbara Forte; great nephews, Mark and A. J. Forte; and great niece, Nycole Forte. Memorial contributions may be directed to your favorite charity. Visitation will take place on Thursday at Berardinelli Family Funeral Chapel at 9:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Rosario Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Berardinelli Family Funeral Service, 1399 Luisa, Santa Fe, 984-8600.

Colbert, Chunk
Chunk Colbert – Trinidad Enterprise – January 9, 1874 – Trinidad was somewhat startled last Thursday morning by the report that Chunk had been shot at Red River. We have no reliable information in regard to his death; but the rumor generally credited, is that Chunk and a man by the name of John Allison had been quarrelling, both had been drinking during the day. At the time of the shooting it appears that both were sitting at the same table playing cards when Allison said something that angered Chunk, who pulled out his six-shooter with the intention of shooting Allison, but in his haste it struck the table and went off. Then raising it again would have shot Allison had he not, with a quick movement struck Chunk's revolver causing the ball to strike the wall. Before Chunk could shoot the third time, Allison shot him through the head, scattering his brains over the table, killing him instantly. Dorothy P. Colby - Pueblo Chieftain - January 04, 2006 - Dorothy P. Colby, 91, passed away Jan. 1, 2006. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin F. Colby; and her parents, Bert and Vashti "Vera" McCord. Survived by her children, Paula Dionisio and Pat Patterson; grandchildren, Stephanie Dionisio, Valerie and Mark Rosen, Melissa and Dan Palumbo, Jessica and Jim Harville, Leslie Patterson, Lisa and Bernd Helmke and Todd and Tiffany Patterson; nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. At her request, cremation with a memorial service, 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, T.G. McCarthy Rose Chapel.

Anthony L. Cole - Pueblo Chieftain - March 13, 2005 - Anthony L. Cole, age 39, of Colorado Springs, passed away on March 9, 2005, in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was born in Lakewood, Calif., on June 10, 1965. He had worked as a salesman. He is survived by his parents, Martin and Linda Woods Cole of Beulah, Colo.; sister, Kristy (Zachary) Wilson; brothers, Joey Paulson and Larry (Belynda) Paulsen Jr.; his life partner, Steve Oster and numerous nieces and nephews. Private family services are planned.

Cole, Don H.
Don H. Cole M.D. - Pueblo Chieftain - July 18, 1999 - Don H. Cole M.D., 70, passed away July 16, 1999. Preceded in death by his parents, A. Hunt and Margaret Cole, and by his brother, Thomas Cole. Survived by his loving companion, Suzanne DeBrucque, Pueblo, by his children, Carolyn Cole (Dan) Eggers, Bellevue, Iowa, Susan Cole (Gene) Urie, Truckee, Calif., Don H. Cole Jr., Fairbanks, Alaska, and Amy Cole of Madrid, Spain, granddaughter, Johanna Darland, and great-granddaughter, Nicole Darland, both of Dubuque, Iowa. Also survived by his brothers, Hunt Cole of New York City, and John (Hope) Cole of Haverhill, Mass. Dr. Cole was a retired psychiatrist, a member of Ascension Episcopal Church, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a doctor who cared deeply about his patients. He worked with passion and vigor to bring justice and peace to Vietnam veterans. His work was rooted in human compassion. He used his knowledge with a belief in the goodness of mankind. Those around him felt his natural warmth. Cremation, with service at 2 p.m. Monday at Ascension Episcopal Church, 18th and Grand.

Cole, Phillip
Phillip Cole - Pueblo Chieftain - October 16, 1997 - Phillip Cole passed away Oct. 10, 1997, in Pueblo. He was born Aug. 14, 1934, in David City, Neb. Following his graduation at CU, Phil was a reporter for the Pueblo Star Journal and Chieftain for 27 years before his retiring. He volunteered many hours to Share Colorado, a program he deeply believed in. Phil cherished his longtime friends and the men and women of law enforcement that he covered as a reporter. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Mason. He is survived by 15 grandchildren, including his special buddy, Rian Martin. At his request, cremation in the Davis Crematory. No services will be held.

Coleman, Anna Mae
Anna Mae (Rowe) Coleman - Pueblo Chieftain - July 06, 2005 - Anna Mae (Rowe) Coleman was born Feb. 28, 1913, in Boone, Colo., to William and Myrtle (Danner) Rowe. She married Charlie Postlewaite who passed away Aug. 23, 1934, and later William Coleman who passed away Aug. 26, 1954. She also was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Isador Lenord Rowe Sr., Everett Rowe and Vernon Rowe; sisters, Rachel (Ray) Rowe Keith and Cecical (Rowe) Nelson; nieces, Eva (Rowe) Turner and Betty (Nelson) Whitenton; nephews, Bill Rowe, Lee Nelson, Billy Talbett and Bobbie Talbett. Anna Mae is survived by her nieces, Bonita (Rowe) Baker of Norwalk, Calif., and Rose Lee (Rowe) Bonner of Hazlet, Texas; nephews, Isador Lenord Rowe Jr. of Berryville, Ark., and Gene Nelson of Shoshoni, Wyo.; as well as her good friend, Joanne Masser. She worked at the Carroll Electric Co-op Corp. in Berryville, Ark., as a records clerk from Aug. 9, 1949 to Aug. 14, 1952. She returned to Colorado and worked as secretary at Lake Avenue Baptist Church and volunteered in the gift shop at Parkview hospital in Pueblo for 20 years. She was a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 7 of Pueblo and was in the Eastern Star for 56 years. Visitation, 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at the funeral home. Funeral service, 10 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2005, Adrian Comer Garden Chapel, with interment to follow in the Masonic Cemetery, Trinidad, Colo. The family especially wishes to thank the staff of University Park Care Center for all the tenderness, compassion and care they showed to Anna Mae.

Coleman, Anna Marie
Anna Marie Coleman - Colorado Springs Gazette - November 1, 1988 - Anna Marie Coleman, 46, of Colorado Springs died Sunday at a local hospital. She was a third- and fourth-grade teacher in Fountain School District 8 for 23 1/2 years. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Evergreen Funeral Home, Fountain and Union boulevards. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Divine Redeemer Church, 927 N. Logan Ave., with the Rev. Owen McHugh officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Coleman was born Oct. 20, 1942, in Mesita. She is survived by her father, John Rael. Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Rael. She had lived in Colorado Springs 23 1/2 years and was a former resident of Pueblo. Mrs. Coleman graduated from high school in Mesita, attended Adams State College and graduated from the University of Southern Colorado, Pueblo. She was a member of Divine Redeemer Church. She was married July 7, 1979, at Divine Redeemer Church, to Michael V. Coleman, who survives. In addition to her husband and father, Mrs. Coleman is survived by six brothers, Raymond Rael of Manassa, Larry Rael of Fort Garland, Robert and Charles Rael, both of Alamosa, Nicholas Rael of Eden Prairie, Minn., and John Rael of Fort Collins; and three sisters, Delphinian Kogovsek of Pueblo, Cordie Mantua of Freeport and Lou Loomis of Loveland. Marvel Allene Coleman - Pueblo Chieftain - October 27, 2004 - Marvel Allene Coleman, 86, passed away Oct. 23, 2004. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; and by her five brothers. Mother of Ralph (Sonuia) Coleman, Bancroft, Mich., Morris (Shirley) Coleman, Mesa, Ariz., Jim Coleman, Pueblo, Colo., Dan (Barbara) Coleman, Nashville, Tenn., Dean (Dolly) Coleman, Mesa, Ariz., Florence (Daniel) Pizinger, Colorado Springs; sister of Kay Lee, Pueblo, Joy (Chuck) Ingram, Denver, and Russell (Marilyn) Olson, Denver. Also survived by 48 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was a member of the First Church of God. She loved to do crafts including sewing and making quilts. Allene also was an avid bowler, enjoyed upholstering, and loved children and cooking. Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, and 8 a.m. to noon Thursday, at T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home. Coleman, Pansy
Pansy Coleman - Huerfano World - January 14, 1993 - Pioneer Dies - Pansy Coleman, 92, of La Veta, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1993, in Huerfano County Medical Center Long Term Care where she had been in residence the past year. Mrs. Coleman had been in failing health after suffering a broken hip. Born in La Veta June 17, 1900, to Orace Byrd and Minnie Spielmann Beamer, she was reared in La Veta and graduated from La Veta High School. On Nov. 25, 1925, she married Louis W. Coleman who was at that time in the contracting business. In 1933, the Coleman Drug Store was founded and she worked with her husband while raising their son, Jack. While working at the store many of the lady clerks were taught to crochet by Mrs. Coleman who was known for her fine work. She was active in many of the social and civic clubs of La Veta, and was also known for her avid bridge playing. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her son, Jack Coleman, Sequim, WA, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral service was Friday from La Veta United Methodist Church. Burial was in La Veta Cemetery. Huerfano World - January 14, 1993 - Pansy Coleman whose funeral service was Friday, Jan. 8 was a leading citizen of her times, often the first to greet summer residents and visitors from the drugstore which she and her late husband, Lou Coleman established in the 1930s. Featured in the store displaying many antiques was the beautiful soda fountain, old when they bought it, which is now seen daily at Charlie's in La Veta. A member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Pansy had the reputation of selling the most poppies as she and others rang bells from door-to-door soliciting donations. A pleasure for her was making cookies to fill the tins provided veterans in hospitals. Lou was a veteran of World War I. In later years, Pansy played lots of bridge, loved clubs and church. Almost to the day for the last year she was hospitalized in Huerfano County Medical Center after a fall in her home. Her son Jack Coleman survives with his wife Harriet of Seguim, OR, and their four children and grandchildren. Pall bearers were W.M.H. Riggins, Harry Moore, Bill Duzenack, Eugene Heikes, Don Wagner and Fred Falk.

Colglazier, Berneil I.
Berneil I. Colglazier - Pueblo Chieftain - September 11, 2002 - Berneil I. Colglazier, born May 27, 1915, passed away Sept. 9, 2002. Preceded in death by her husband, Sidney G. Colglazier; parents; one sister; and two brothers. Survived by her sons, Sidney (Faline) of Benson, Ariz., Norman (Nancy) of Pueblo and Alan of Pueblo West; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by her sister, Ila Whitlock; and brothers, Dale, Harold, Lester and Gary Herrick, all of Kansas. Berneil was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Phi Sigma Alpha Sorority and C.A.P.E. Berneil was employed by the Colorado State Hospital as a Mental Health Worker II at the time of her retirement in 1979. A special thanks to the staff of Heatherwood Court and Belmont Lodge for the care given Berneil the last years of her life. Viewing, 1 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Colian, James A.
James A. Colian - Pueblo Chieftain - November 05, 2005 - James A. Colian passed away Nov. 3, 2005, in Pueblo. Jim was born Feb. 7, 1938, to James and Julia Mauro Colian Prutch. He was a 1956 graduate of Pueblo County High School, and a wonderful musician for the better part of his life. He was the "Master of the Game" of car sales, having been employed as a salesman for many years at Fortino Jackson Chevrolet and most recently at Vidmar Motors. He enjoyed his family, watching the Denver Broncos on his big screen TV, his trips to Las Vegas and his Oreos. Jim loved everyone and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Mark Alan Colian, David Scott Moore; son-in-law, Rawn Swarbrick; sisters, Ravelle Cain and Esther Thomas; brothers-in-law, Bill Cain and Tony Thomas. His survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, JoAnn Colian; daughters, Brenda (Greg) Smith, Terry Swarbrick, Kimberly (Dan) Huerta, Leslie (Joe) Reeves, Carol (Keith) Avery and Robin Thomas; his grandchildren, Lacey (Matt) Goodrich, Shawna Knabe, Tyler, Chelsea, Sophia Swarbrick, Kristen and Stephanie Mulay, Megan Huerta, Alex and Ashley Avery, Anthony Reeves, Lee, Brigette, Brandy and Jessica Smith, RJ Spencer, and Bayli Thomas; his great-grandchildren, Xandra Armijo and Mia Mulay, who is due in January of 2006; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mr. Colian will lie in state, noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, Davis Mortuary. Funeral service, 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, Pueblo Christian Center, 1605 S. Pueblo Boulevard. Entombment will follow at Imperial Cemetery, with graveside burial rites by the Pueblo Elks Lodge No. 90.

Colistro, Joe Sr.
Joe Colistro Sr. - Huerfano World - September 28, 2006 - After living a long and happy life, on September 25, 2006, of Gardner, my husband, our father, and grandfather, Joe Colistro was welcomed into the loving arms of his Mother, Grandfather, Father, Brother, 2 grandchildren, and his good buddy, Tony Trujillo, all of whom preceded him into the glory of heaven. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara; his children, who he loved deeply, Mickey (Sal) D'Ambrosia, Mary Jo Colistro, Joe (Liz) Colistro, Tony (Peggy) Colistro, John (Tressa) Colistro, Cathy (Gibby) Harmes, Susan (Aron) Wolak, Gina (Jess) Vialpando, and Bobbie Jo (Ben) Trujillo; and loved as a son, Chuck Vialpando; forty-one grandchildren, fifty-one great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Joe was born on September 14, 1923 in Pueblo to Anna Albo and Sam Campise. Joe was a man who contributed much to the community. He was an active member of the community who had a strong voice in local governmental committees that helped Gardner and Huerfano County to become a better place to live. One of his finest achievements was the Danforth School Reunion. His commitment to his lifelong friends was the true meaning of friendship. The gathering of his friends meant a great deal to him. Joe loved his community, his friends, his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a friend to all. He said, “No one is a stranger, they are just people I haven't met yet.” In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 129 Kansas Avenue, Walsenburg, CO 81089. they cared for Joe with much care and affection. Special thanks to Kathy, Tracy, Dale, Suzann, Pastor BJ and Nancy, who helped make Joe's journey peaceful, dignified and honorable. He was an avid outdoorsman, stamp collector and enjoyed collecting memorabilia. He was also a great artist and builder and very kind. He was a good man. Joe will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Memorial mass will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Preceded in death by husband, Nick Collas; parents, Francisco Gonzales and Dolores Duran Gonzales. Survived by her brothers, Robert Gonzales, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Francisco Gonzales, Lawndale, Calif.; sister, Delores Srnka Ramirez, Walsenburg. Memorial funeral service, 2 p.m. Friday at Romero Chapel in Walsenburg with minister Edgar DeVan officiating. Vera Collette - Pueblo Chieftain - February 07, 2003 - Vera Collette, 91, passed away Feb. 5, 2003. Born on Aug. 18, 1911, in Pueblo, Colo. Preceded in death by parents, Nancy and Steve Pillar; husband, John H. Collette; sisters, Clara (Carl) Pantleo and Lucy (Joe) Collette; grandson, John A. Collette; great-granddaughter, Valerie Hayes; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Survived by daughter, Nancy (Alvin) Hayes; son, Albert (Jo Anna) Collette; grandchildren, Diana (Richard) Schultz, Patricia (Brian) Rowe, Nancy (Steve) Hayes, John (Laurie) Hayes, Dennis (Sherril) Hayes, Patrick (Ronda) Collette, Karen (Dick) Hoopes, Tim (Roe Ann) Collette, Jo Anna (Scott) Yarberry, Theresa (Jeff) Zupancic, Stephanie (Daniel) Selvage, 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends and neighbors. She loved to cook and bake, and shared with all her neighbors and grandchildren. She taught her grandchildren to crochet and loved passing time with them playing cards. She lived on her own until September 1994, when she had a stroke, she then lived with her daughter, Nancy, and son, Al. Diane Lynch Colletti - Colorado Springs Gazette - February 20, 2007 - Diane Colletti passed away February 16, 2007. Diane was born February 20, 1941 to Joseph and Grace Lynch in Denver, Colorado and was raised in Pueblo, Colorado. Diane was married on September 7, 1963 to Vic "Vito" Colletti in Pueblo, Colorado. She is survived by her spouse Vito, her children, Gina Manning (Mark Salamon), Rene' (Vince) Eastlake, and Dana (Scott) Huntsman and her grandchildren, David Huntsman, Derek Huntsman, Tera Huntsman, Amanda Eastlake, and a soon to be born baby girl Eastlake, and Brother-in-law Frank Colletti. Diane was an avid gardener, loved to travel, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She took an active role in her grand children's education and activities. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 20 at Dove-Witt Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 with a rosary at 6:00. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fountain at 101 N. Linda Colletti - Pueblo Chieftain - September 15, 2002 - Linda Colletti departed this life Sept. 13, 2002, at St. Francis Hospice in Colorado Springs. Linda is preceded in death by her father, Lestor Tisor; and mother, Joyce Tisor. She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph; son, Robert Gallegos; step-daughters, Melanie and Keri Colletti; sisters, Diane (Tom) Bradford, June (Tad) Daily, Carrie (James) Gordon; brother, Dennis (Linda) Tisor; sisters-in-law, Donna (Richard) Scalese and Ginger (Pat) Bergman; and nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lucy Pillar Colletti - Pueblo Chieftain - December 26, 2002 - Mrs. Lucy Pillar Colletti went to be with the Lord Dec. 23, 2002, while visiting in Huntsville, Ala. She was born in Pueblo, Colo., to Steve and Nancy Pillar. She married Joseph Colletti (deceased April 1989) on May 31, 1933. They had two sons, Sylvester (Cornelia) and Steve (Carolyn). Grandmother of Steve (Pamela) Collette Jr., Lucille (Scott) McMahan, Debra Ann Collette, Frank (Delisa) Collette, Joseph (Kimberly) Collette and Matthew Collette. Great-grandmother of Dustin, Riley, Austen and Alex. Also survived by her sister, Vera (John) Collette; cousin, Mike Yallanardo; and many nieces and nephews. Lucy loved to crochet, watch her soap operas and WWW wrestling. The family will receive friends 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Preceded in death by her mother, Marge Divelbliss. Survived by her father, Stan Bokowski; brother, Larry (Sharon) Bokowski, all of Fremont. Dr. J. T. Collier - Rocky Mountain News - January 4, 1895 - Dr. J. T. Collier Dead - Pueblo, Colorado, January 3 --Dr. John T. Collier of this city died at Syracuse, Kansas soon after 1 o'clock yesterday morning at the age of 68 years. His ailment was neuralgia of the heart and his illness was very brief. He leaves but one child, a daughter living at Sterling, Kan. In 1864 Dr. Collier left his birthplace in Collier County, Mo., and went to California. Soon after this he engaged in the live stock business in Nevada and proved himself very competent. In 1871 he came to Colorado and made Pueblo his home. The funeral will be held here probably Sunday afternoon.

Born in Whitesville, Mo., Mrs. Collings had taught school at Tarkio six years before moving to Cosby last September. She was graduated from the Savannah, Missouri High School and Northeast Missouri State Teachers College, Kirksville. Mrs. Collings had taught in Andrew, Mercer, and Lancaster counties. She was a member of the Tarkio Baptist Church and the Ravenwood, Mo., Order of the Eastern Star. She was the widow of James Ferrill Collings, Tarkio educator, who died last year. Survivors include one daughter, Miss Mary Jane Collings, Cosby; one son, James Lawrence Collings, Cosby; three brothers, Clifford and James E. Clark, both of Rae, Mo., and Porter Clark, Yakama, Wash., and four sisters, Mrs. Raymond Scott and Mrs. Philip Summer, St. Joseph; Mrs. Freeman Howell, Union Star, Mo., and Mrs. Milton Schneider, Cosby. Services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Whitesville Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body is at the Clark Funeral home, King City, Mo.

Carol A. Collins - Pueblo Chieftain - May 03, 2003 - Carol A. Collins passed away April 30, 2003, in Pueblo. Carol was born March 7, 1946, in Alexandria City, Minn., and came to Pueblo with her family shortly thereafter. She was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church and past president of the FO Eagles Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Valencia Davis. Her survivors include her sons, Donnie Jones and John Collins; her daughter, Kristie Hammer; her brother, Richard Davis, all of Pueblo; four grandchildren, Randy, Matthew and Jennifer Jones and Michael Hammer; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives. No viewing, cremation in the Davis Crematory. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2003, in the Davis Memorial Chapel. Ivorine was born in Milan, Mo., on Dec. 4, 1911, to Oscar and Ethel Leach Hunsaker. She lived in Las Animas and was employed at the Fort Lyon VA Medical Center for many years before moving to Pueblo in 1960. Mrs. Collins was a very active resident of the Belmont Lodge Nursing Home and served as the Silver Queen in 1990. Ivorine was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Guy Collins, in 1989. She is survived by her children, Jalia (Bill) Brown of Pueblo, Edward Collins of Missouri; grandchildren, Laurel (Richard) Landreth, Guila (Frank) Scott, Raymond Brown, Tom (Becky) Collins; great-grandchildren, Casey Lewis, Erinn Scott, Chris Scott, Tara and Brent Collins; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Collins will lie in state at the mortuary from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. today. Graveside services will be held in the Roselawn Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, 2001.

Ralph Collins - Spokesman-Review - March 13, 2004 - Spokane, WA - Visitation for Ralph Collins, 80, will be today at 8:30 a.m. at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home, with funeral to follow at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Ione, Wash. Mr. Collins, who was born in Trinidad, Colo., died Wednesday. He graduated in 1942 from Ione (Wash.) High School, where he played basketball and football. Immediately following graduation, he married Helen Dean and moved to Spokane to attend Whitworth College on an athletic scholarship. His wife died in 1965. Mr. Collins married Charlotte Nesbitt in 1967; she died in 1970. He worked for Railway Express as a delivery driver for several years. He retired as a production supervisor for Ralston Purina after 35 years. Mr. Collins was supportive of youth sports, serving as the Catholic Youth Organization Sport director and coaching his sons' sports teams. He enjoyed cooking, hunting, making his own wine, producing edited videos of special events and growing raspberries. Survivors include four sons, Randy, Bob, Steve and Tony Collins; two daughters, Margaret Collins and Claudia Ebel; three stepsons, Dave, Larry and Spencer Nesbitt; two stepdaughters, Georgia Rich and JoAnne Maughan; a sister Fran Olson; a brother, Stanley Grindy; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by four nephews, Eugene Walker of Weskan, Kan., Dennis Walker of Romoland, Calif., Roger Walker of Nuevo, Calif., and Larry Smith of Ulysses, Kan.; two nieces, Paula K. Colnar, Frances
Frances Sporcic Colnar - Huerfano World - February 8, 1990 - Frances Sporcic Colnar, a Walsenburg resident for 46 years, died of an apparent heart attack in a foster home in Tigard, OR, Jan. 27, 1990. She was 92. Born Sept. 20, 1897, in Velike Drage, Croatia, Yugoslavia, she married George Kvaternick in 1919. She immigrated to America in 1932 to join her husband and settled in Walsenburg. Following her husband's death in 1942 she married Charles Colnar in 1946. Mr. Colnar died in 1976 and Mrs. Colnar moved to Oregon in 1978 to live near her son. Mrs. Colnar, who was a long time member of St. Mary Church, became a member of St. Anthony Catholic church in Tigard. She was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union, receiving her 50 year membership pin in 1984. She is survived by her son, George Kvaternick, of Tigard, OR; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mass of Christian Burial was Jan., 30 from St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial was at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Tigard.

Colnar, Frank G.
Frank G. Colnar - Huerfano World - October 14, 1999 - Frank G. Colnar of Littleton, retired financial planner, died September 21, 1999 after a long battle with cancer. He was 82 years of age. A mass was said at Saint Francis Cabrini Church on September 27. A private graveside service was held in the Golden City cemetery. Born September 30, 1916 in Pueblo to immigrant parents from Yugoslavia, Frank and Mary Sporcic Colnar, his father was a coal miner and he grew up in Walsen Camp. He spoke no English until he started school at Walsen Elementary. Mr. Colnar graduated from Huerfano County High School in 1934 and from Barnes School of Commerce in April, 1938. He worked as milk deliveryman for Walsenburg Creamery, a bookkeeper-salesman for Bain's Department Store and a bookkeeper-salesman for the Unique Shop. He married his lifetime partner, Jean Morris, November 19, 1941. They moved to Illinois so he could take a job as an accountant for Quincy Barge Builders, then to Ohio to work as a senior accountant and auditor for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. In 1946, the couple moved back to Denver. He began working at Continental Airlines as an accountant and left Continental as an assistant vice president in 1968 to assume his new position as Executive Vice President for Wells, Rich, Greene, Inc., in New York City. He retired to Franktown in 1979. Survivors include his wife, Jean, Littleton, a daughter, Sharon Jones, La Mesa, CA; a son, Gary Colnar, Pueblo; one brother, Tony Colnar, Denver; two sisters, Mary Brothers, Pueblo and Ann Kurtz, Newbury Park, CA; two grandsons, a grand daughter and two great grandchildren.

Columbo, Sam
Sam Columbo - Castle Rock Journal - May 24, 1907 - Sam Columbo, a miner at Berwind, ten miles north of Trinidad, was electrocuted. He was going off shift, carrying a can of hot water on his head, when the can touched an overhead trolley wire of the mine tramway, and the powerful current killed him. The coroner decided that the death was the result of the miner's own carelessness. Columbo was twenty-two years old and single.

She is survived by two daughters, Sara (Dennis) Murphy, Olpe, KS, and Nancy (Bruce) Christofferson, La Veta; one sister, Jo Cross, Trinidad; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several cousins. She was married on October 27, 1934 to Richard O. (Dick) Colvin in Kansas City, Kansas at Central Christian Church. Her father, Reverend D. F. Cross, officiated at the wedding. Helen lived in Cuchara and La Veta. And later in Trinidad at Corazon Square. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, La Veta, Colorado. Her Other memberships since moving to Cuchara in 1981 included: Cuchara Chapel Board, Cuchara Hermosa, Cuchara Association (officer), AAUW, La Veta Garden Club and numerous bridge clubs. She enjoyed music, reading and libraries, sewing, travel, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Dick, who died December 12, 1981. She is survived by her children – Sara Jo (Dennis) Murphy, Olpe, Kansas and Nancy (Bruce) Christofferson, La Veta, Colorado; grandchildren – Thomas (Cheryl) Murphy, Hershey, Nebraska, JoEllen Murphy, Pueblo, Colorado, and Andrew (Lorene) Murphy, Evans, Colorado; step-grandchildren are Wendy (Eric) Christofferson-Kenney, Highlands Ranch, Colorado and Monica Christofferson, Albuquerque, New Mexico; great grandchildren – Cassandra and Bayliegh Murphy, Hershey, Nebraska and Jacob, McKayla and Mya Murphy, Evans, Colorado Helen is also survived by her sister, Jo Cross of Corazon Square, Trinidad. Johnnie N. Colwell - Pueblo Chieftain - March 19, 2001 - Age 91, passed away March 17, 2001. Survived by his wife, Mabel G. Colwell, Pueblo; stepdaughters, Wyvonna J. (Rev. Gene) Widener, Pueblo West, Colo., Pat Colwell, Carlsbad, Calif.; sisters, Rachael Burrous, Pueblo, Margaret Clowers, Gallatin, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Forrest G. Colyn - Huerfano World - January 12, 1989 - Forrest G. Colyn, 95, formerly of Colorado Springs and Walsenburg, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 1988 in Glendale, AZ. She was a homemaker. Graveside service was Jan. 4 in Resthaven Park Cemetery, Glendale, AZ.

Toni G. Colyn - World Independent - August 9, 1946 - Toni G. Colyn, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Colyn Jr., of Turkey Ridge, died last night. Surviving besides the parents are the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Corsentino and Mr. and Mrs. Tony Colyn Sr. Services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at he Unfug – Peet mortuary, with the Rev. J.H. Gerault officiating. Interment will be in the Masonic cemetery under the direction of the Unfug – Peet mortuary.
