Cedillo, Margarito Jr.
Margarito "Magger" Cedillo Jr. - Pueblo Chieftain - September 10, 1999 - Margarito "Magger" Cedillo Jr., 72, of Pueblo, passed away Sept. 8, 1999. Born June 23, 1927 in Pueblo. Preceded in death by parents, Margarito and Isabel Cedillo. Survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline P. Cedillo, of the family home; children, Jesse Cedillo and Geraldine Cedillo Sanchez, both of Pueblo; stepsons, Dennis Rivera, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Anthony Medina, of Pueblo; grandchildren, Alicia, Nichole, Jlynn, Susie, Angela and Lasondra; one great-grandchild; brother, Paul (Vicky) Nunez, of Pueblo; sister, Salome Sally Aragon, of Pueblo. Viewing, 1 to 5 p.m. today at Romero Chapel. Vigil rosary, 7 p.m. tonight at Romero Chapel. Funeral Mass, 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Parish, Rev. Richard Becker, celebrant. Cremation to follow. Cedrone, Frank
Frank Cedrone - Pueblo Chieftain - February 27, 2003 - Frank Cedrone. The heartbeat of Frank Cedrone, 73, stopped at 1:46 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003. A memorial service will be held at Hoag Recital Hall at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2003. Frank was born in Brighton, Mass. He studied with Bertha Hoffman of Brighton; David Ernst and Boris Goldovsky at the Longy School of Music; Franz Wasner, director of the Trapp Family Singers, and David Barnett at The New England Conservatory of Music. He attended the Boston Conservatory as a scholarship student and studied with Georg Fior. It was here that he met Victoria Markowski, and the piano team was born. They served as musical directors and accompanists at the Weston Playhouse in Weston, Vt., for "Finian's Rainbow," "Kiss Me Kate," "The Fantasticks" and "Little Mary Sunshine," as well as musical directors and accompanists for the national tour of "Kiss Me Kate" for Stanley Wolff Productions in New York City. After graduation, they joined the conservatory's faculty. Upon leaving the conservatory, they moved to New York City where they coached with David Saperton, protégé and son-in-law of Leopold Godowsky. The Markowski and Cedrone duo won the prestigious Concert Artist's Guild Award, resulting in a New York City debut at Carnegie Recital Hall where they garnered highly favorable reviews. They completed two tours for the University of Wisconsin Bureau of Concerts and Lectures; the Cultural Enrichment Committee of Fairlawn, N.J.; and Higher Horizons, New York City Board of Education; three tours for Redpath Concert Bureau; and five tours for the University of Minnesota Concert and Lecture Service; as well as innumerable performances for Community Concerts, United Audiences and Civic Music Associations. They were selected as cultural ambassadors for the state of Pennsylvania. After joining the University of Southern Colorado as artists in residence, they organized the first-ever International Piano Ensemble Competition, which attracted entrants from throughout the Western Hemisphere and Europe. At the University of Southern Colorado, Frank taught piano, piano class, piano ensemble and Music Appreciation. He retired from the University in 1999, but taught part-time. He was a member of the Colorado State Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association, from which he held Master Teacher Certification and taught privately. He was a member of Local 802, New York City. He published a book, "The Well Tempered Hanon;" and his articles, "How Fast is Fast," "How to Practice with the Metronome" and "Interspersed Practicing" were published in the Piano Guild Magazine. More recently, the piano-duo released their CD entitled "Two-Piano Magic." Frank served as executive director of the Pueblo Symphony for five years and was past president of the Colorado State Music Teachers Association. He was awarded the Baldwin Artist designation and was selected for Who's Who in Music. Other awards include: Honorary Member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia; National Patron, Delta Omicron and National Honorary, Kappa Gamma Psi. Frank is survived by his two-piano partner of 53 years, Victoria Markowski, her husband and Frank's loyal friend, Rod Townley; college students, private students and their families, members of the music faculty, other members of the USC community, and friends in the Pueblo community. His immediate family consists of one sister, Anita Baia; and three nieces, Jeanne (Fred) Ciliberto, Patricia Parma and Barbara (Barry) Fitzpatrick; four nieces, four great-nieces, two great-great-nieces, two nephews and two great-nephews. His friends and family respectfully request no food or flowers. Those who wish to do so may make donations to the Frank Cedrone Piano Scholarship Fund through the USC Foundation.

Centa, Helen
Helen Centa - Pueblo Chieftain - February 23, 2003 - Helen Centa, 84, born May 9, 1918, passed away Feb. 21, 2003. Preceded in death by her husband, Ludwig Centa; daughter, JoAnn Grasmick; and grandson, Mark Grasmick. Survived by children, Ludwig Centa, Baggs, Wyo., John (Marilynn) Centa of Pueblo and Christine (James) Hager of Boone. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Helen was honored as runner-up in the 1999 Silver Queen Contest for the Colorado State Fair. She treated the audience and judges to her hearty rendition of Minnie Pearl's “Howdy, I'm so proud to be here” and humorous poetry. Viewing, noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home. Centa, John P.
John P. (Sparky) Centa - Pueblo Chieftain - July 03, 2006 - John P. (Sparky) Centa, 102, born in Pueblo, Colo., on Oct. 27, 1903, passed away July 1, 2006. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Theresa Centa; wife, Amelia; and brothers, Raymond, William, Anthony, Louis and Ludwig Centa. Survived by brother, Joseph (Gerry) Centa and sister-in-law, Helen Centa, both of Avondale; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by special friends, Donald and Betty English and Lenora Nezvensky. John was a lifetime Pueblo resident, retiring from the CF&I in 1968. He then became a partner in the Hurricane Car Wash retiring from there in 1991. He was a member of the Southern Colorado Polka Club and was an avid polka dancer, dancing until the age of 101. Visitation, 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery. Special thanks to Pueblo Extended Care and Preferred Hospice. In lieu of food and flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to a charity of donor's choice.

Centers, Ella
Ella Centers – Colorado Public Defender - April 26, 1924 - Joe McGonigal (a.k.a. M'Gonnigal, McGonigle), Trinidad (Las Animas County). W-W. Hanging. McGonigal was convicted of murdering Wilbur N. Ferguson, a student at the Colorado School of Mines, and Ella Centers, the daughter of the owner of a rooming house where both Ferguson and McGonigal lived. McGonigal, forty-two, worked as a watchman at a mine, and at one time had been prominent in the affairs of the United Mine Workers. He shot Ferguson inside the house, and Centers fled in terror. McGonigal chased her and killed her with a shotgun as she pleaded for her life. Several nearby workmen witnessed the murder. McGonigal then returned to the house and, apparently to create a self-defense claim, shot himself in the foot, which later had to be amputated. The state alleged that the McGonigal committed the murders while drunk and that he was jealous of the personal relationship between Ferguson and Centers. McGonigal's sole defense was insanity, although he only proffered jail prisoners, and no experts, to support that claim. In contrast, three psychiatrists testified that the defendant was sane. On appeal, the defense attorney failed to file an abstract of the record and brief. The court reprimanded the attorney and cited him for contempt, but permitted him to continue on the case. The conviction was later affirmed, and after the governor granted a one-month stay of execution to evaluate McGonigal's sanity, he was hanged with the “old water type” gallows.

Centner, William O.
William O. Centner - Pueblo Chieftain - September 11, 1997 - William O. Centner, 77, died Sept. 10, 1997, in Canon City. He is survived by his wife, Norma Branom Centner- children, Robert (Pat) Centner, Sharon (Mickey) DeWitt, Kenneth (Leslie) Centner, Linda (Jim) Downing- and six grandchildren. Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 1997, at the First Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church, 16th and Franklin Ave., Canon City. Interment, 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 1997, Fairmont Cemetery, Lamar.

Cerda, Faustine
Faustine Cerda - Huerfano World - January 5, 1989 - Faustine Cerda, 83, of Gardner, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 1988 in Huerfano Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient. Born Oct. 14, 1905, to Hilario and Rosita Pacheco Cerda, in Trinidad, as a small child the family moved to the coal camps in the Tioga area. His father homestead in the Bradford area near Gardner. Mr. Cerda worked as a ranch hand for many years at the JM Ranch, northwest of Gardner. On Apr. 8, 1926, he married Filomena Archuleta. Surviving are a daughter, Viola Archuleta; a son, William Cerda, Fountain; a brother, Moises Cerda, Pueblo; two sisters, Louise Archuleta, Redwing and Mary Abeyta, Pueblo; three granddaughters, numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial was from the Sacred Heart Church in Gardner Monday. Burial was in Gardner Catholic Cemetery. Boies Almont was in charge of arrangements.

Cerda, Moises
Moises Cerda - Pueblo Chieftain - August 07, 2003 - Moises Cerda, 81, passed away Aug. 5, 2003, at home surrounded by his family. Moises was born June 4, 1922 in Gardner, Colo., to Hilario Cerda and Rose Cerda who preceded him along with his brothers, Faustine, Julian, Manual and Jake Cerda; and sister, Rita Cerda. Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sophie Cerda; daughters, Barbara (Amos) Vialpando of Pueblo West, Betty (Towomi) Shoblo, and Nancy (James) Callaway, both of Colorado Springs, Lorri Igoe (Chris Pulskamp) of Pueblo West; grandchildren, Shanie Krause, Billy Watson, Lisa Shoblo, Jimmy Shoblo, Sophia Igoe, Emma Igoe; great-grandchildren, Mason Shoblo and Dominic Shoblo; sisters, Louise Archuleta of Redwing, Mary Trujillo of Pueblo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Moises bravely served his country as a WWII veteran assigned to the 95th Artillery Division landing on Normandy Beach. He was involved in the Normandy Invasion. Moises retired in June of 1983 from the CF&I with 35 years of service. He enjoyed his retirement with his hobbies of camping, fishing, traveling, and being with his family. Moises touched many lives and will be missed by all. Viewing, 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Imperial Funeral Home with the family present. Henry R. Cerise - Pueblo Chieftain - January 06, 2001 - Henry R. Cerise, 81, born June 28, 1919, in Carbondale, Colo., passed away Jan. 4, 2001. Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Pauline Cerise; children, June DeHaven of Pueblo, Dave (Darlene) Cerise of Florissant, Dick (Bev) Cerise of Arvada, Brenda (Floyd) Bieker of Penrose; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Predeceased by parents, Henry and Mary Cerise; son, Donald J. Cerise; one sister and four brothers. Henry was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired in 1983 from the CF&I after 28 years of service. He was a member of Local No. 2102 United Steelworkers Union and a lifetime member of Pueblo Aerie No. 145 FOE. Viewing Saturday and Sunday, noon until 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Pauline F. Cerise - Pueblo Chieftain - February 13, 2001 - Age 83, Pueblo resident for 55 years, born July 7, l9l7, in Leadville, Colo., passed away Feb. 12, 2001. Survived by children, June DeHaven, Pueblo, Dave (Darlene) Cerise, Florissant, Dick (Bev) Cerise, Arvada, and Brenda (Floyd) Bieker, Penrose; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Ludwig (Carro) Slack, Aurora; sisters-in-law, Hazel Slack, Pueblo, and Vera Cerise, Saratoga, Wyo. Predeceased by husband, Henry R. Cerise on Jan. 4, 2001; parents, Ludwig and Johanna Slack; son, Donald J. Cerise; and a sister and a brother. Pauline was a member of Holy Family Church for 42 years. Cernac, Michael A.
Michael Andrew Cernac - Pueblo Chieftain - June 09, 2003 - Michael Andrew Cernac, 38, born Nov. 24, 1964, passed away June 7, 2003. Survived by his loving wife, Laura Cernac; the joys of his life, son, T.J.; and daughter, Ashley; parents, John and Charlotte Cernac; brother, John (Kim) Cernac; father- and mother-in-law, Ron and Rosemary Runyan; brothers-in-law, Mike (Kerri) Runyan and Ed Runyan; niece, Christina Cernac; grandmother, Dorothy Cernac; grandfather- and grandmother-in-law, Fred and Genevieve Runyan; aunts, Peggy Skube, Theresa Novak, Dorothy (Joe) Mauro, and Sharon (Ray) Jenkins; uncles, John (Char-lee) Skube and Bruce (Lisa) Runyan; and uncle and aunt, Ralph and Sharon Marco; as well as numerous cousins and other special friends. Mike graduated from South High School in 1983 and from the University of Southern Colorado in 1989. He worked for the URS Corp., where he was a construction manager. He recently oversaw the construction of the Blende Bridge Project. He was an avid CU Buffs fan and enjoyed coaching Bantam League Football. His favorite thing was playing with his kids, and spending time with his family. He also loved fishing and his yellow lab, Chuckie. He was a beloved husband, father, son, son-in-law, brother, and nephew, and will be sadly missed. Viewing, 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. The casket will be closed at the church. Lawrence M. Cernoia Sr. - Pueblo Chieftain - January 16, 2003 - Lawrence M. Cernoia Sr., 64, born Dec. 28, 1938, passed away Jan. 13, 2003. He celebrated life with his wife of 43 years, Frances Cernoia; children, Loraine (Greg) Ehlinger, Greenville, Texas, Carol (Edward) Serracino and Lawrence (Sylvia) Cernoia Jr.; and grandchildren, Dale Galich, Amber and Jessica Ehlinger and Michael and Jennifer Cernoia. Also survived by his sisters, Jean Cunico, Ann (Ralph) Sacco, Vera (Dennis) Walters; brother-in-law, Charles Grando; mother-in-law, Velma Vansandt and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Josephine Cernoia; brother, Joe Cernoia; and sister, Mary Grando. Lawrence was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Irene Cervantes - Pueblo Chieftain - November 20, 2005 - Irene Cervantes, 80, passed away Nov. 16, 2005. She was born in Pueblo on May 29, 1925 to Joe and Acension Pino. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 40 years Edward, and her sister Monica (Joe) Gallegos. She is survived by her three sons, Edward Cervantes of Colorado Springs, Father Tim Cervantes of Shiprock, New Mexico, Hank (Barbara) Cervantes of Pueblo; a brother, Ben (Helen) Pino of Rocky Ford; two sisters, Priscilla Pino Cordova of Rocky Ford and Erma (Joe) Roybal of Denver. Also surviving are five grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was a devoted Catholic and active member and past president of the Legion of Mary. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and going to Cripple Creek. She was a great, loving mother and a wonderful friend to all. Irene was co-owner of Military Surplus store with son Hank. Viewing at T.G. Maria Irene Cervantes - Pueblo Chieftain - November 18, 2005 - Maria Irene Cervantes, 80, of Pueblo, Colo., passed away Nov. 16, 2005, in Farmington, N.M. She was born in Pueblo on May 29, 1925, to Joe and Acension Pino. Services for Irene are pending.

Cervanyk, Lee
Lee Cervanyk - Denver Post - November 30, 1996 - Lee Cervanyk Retired Engineer, 63 - Lee Cervanyk of Denver, a retired engineer, died Monday in Denver. He was 63. A mass of Christian burial was yesterday at All Saints Catholic Church. Interment was in Fort Logan National Cemetery. He was born Dec. 10, 1932, in Pryor. He attended Walsenburg Public Schools and Arapahoe Junior College. He served in the Navy from 1950 to 1954. On June 11, 1955, he married Lorraine Nigro in Walsenburg. He was employed as an engineer with AT&T Technologies until his retirement. He volunteered for the Colorado Talking Books Library. He was a member of Second High Gate Life, Telephone Pioneers of America and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 322. He bowled in a local men's league. He enjoyed outdoor sports and was a longtime fan of the Air Force Falcons. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Lora Thomas, Limon; four sons, John, Aurora, Edward and Richard, Littleton, and Thomas, Lakewood; and six grandchildren. Cesario of Pueblo- granddaughter, Shelley Kahler of Pueblo and Gina Kahler of Washington state- great-granddaughters, Amber and Ashley Horne and Lindsey and Erin Chung-Hoon. Also survived by her sister, Gin Lee of Denver- brother, Kenny Veasmane, Denver- nieces, Nola Mae Brock of Gypsum, and Terry (Allen) Anderson, Pueblo- and by her sister-in-law, Theresa Cesario. Cesario, Jerry S.
Jerry Steve Cesario - Pueblo Chieftain - August 17, 2002 - Jerry Steve Cesario went peacefully to be with our Lord on Aug. 14, 2002. He was born Aug. 28, 1951, in Pueblo, Colo., the son of Jacob and Martha Cesario. He was a graduate of Central High School and the University of Southern Colorado with a bachelor of science in business. He had worked for Estes Hi Flier Industries for 23 years. He then worked for John Heaton at Colorado Printing before coming to work for The Pueblo Chieftain. His interests were hunting, fishing and aquarium fish. He was a talented artist as well as a master model builder. He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha. Survivors include his father, Jacob Cesario; son, David Cesario and his wife Dawn; and brothers, David and Lee Cesario. He is also survived by his loving companion of 10 years, Cathy Martinez. The family wishes to thank Jerry's doctors, Dr. Louis Balizet, Dr. Craig Shapiro, Dr. Ted Puls, Dr. Harvey McClung, his home health care nurse, Marie, and respiratory specialist, Ryan with Apria. Joseph J. Cesario - Pueblo Chieftain - March 16, 1999 - Joseph J. Cesario, 79, of Pueblo passed away March 15, 1999. Born Feb. 28, 1920, in Pueblo to Tony and Josephine Cesario. He was preceded in death by both parents, and brothers, Charles and Angelo. Survived by his loving wife of59 years, Theresa- brother, Frank Cesario- son, Robert (Sheila) Cesario-daughter, Theresa (Alan) Anderson- grandchildren, Michael (Rachel) Cesario, Lana (Gary) Bidwell and Jason (Shay) Cesario- as well as 12great-grandchildren. Joe retired from the Colorado and Wyoming Railway Company as a mechanical superintendent in 1983. Cremation is at Joe's request. Service 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at Adrian Comer Garden Chapel. In lieu of food or flowers, the family respectfully requests that contributions be made to the Denver Children's Hospital Foundation, 1129 E.17th Ave., Denver, Colo. 80218 in Mr. Cesario's memory.

Michael Angelo Cesario - Pueblo Chieftain - March 21, 2004 - Michael Angelo Cesario, 54, passed away unexpectedly March 17, 2004. Preceded in death by parents, Angelo and Benita Cesario. Survived by brothers, Ron (Raedel), Dan (Denise), Anthony; sister, Jeri Crites; son, Michael (Julie); daughter, Melissa. Memorial service, 11 a.m. Monday, at Romero Chapel. Inurnment to follow service at Mountain View Cemetery. Relatives and friends will be received at Romero Courtesy Hall after Inurnment. Cremation has taken place.

Robert Cescolini - Norfolk Daily News - February 16, 2005 - Norfolk, NE - Memorial services for Robert Cescolini, 89, Stuart, will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Seger Funeral Home here. The Rev. Luke Steffes will officiate with burial in Trinidad, Colo. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary at the funeral home. He died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at a Kearney hospital.
