Catalano, Charles
Charles Catalano - Pueblo Chieftain - July 09, 2002 - Charles Catalano, (affectionately known as Papa Charlie), 81, left this world for a place of eternal peace and joy on July 7, 2002. Born July 6, 1921, to Frank and Elizabeth Catalano. Married to Edith (DeLuca) Catalano for 38 years, who preceded him in death. Predeceased also by sister, Mildred Vellar. Survived by children, Michael (Bernadette) Catalano, Frank (Daisy) Catalano, Regina (Dennis) Rowland and Diana (Steve) Shiflett; grandchildren, Jeremy Catalano, Michelle (Josh) Petty, Brittany and Wesley Rowland, and Erin and Kylie Shiflett; and great-grandchildren, William John Petty and Tyler Jacob Sinclair. Also survived by brothers, Sam (Helen) Catalano, Tony (Eleanor) Catalano, Frank (Florence) Catalano, and John (Nancy) Catalano; sisters, Josephine Medonich and Mary Ann Ritz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Charles served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years during World War II and the Korean Conflict, where he was awarded the Bronze Star along with many other medals. He retired in 1982 after 22 years as a federal meat inspector. Charles was a chartered member of the American Legion Post 203 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 3367. He enjoyed camping, fishing, reading and gardening. However, his real passion in life was his grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, 10 a.m., Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery, with military honors by the Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team. In lieu of food and flowers, donations may be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice in his memory.

Grace Catalano - Pueblo Chieftain - August 25, 2001 - Age 81, of Pueblo, passed away Aug. 24, 2001. Born April 16, 1920, in Monte Vista, Colo. Longtime Alamosa resident. Viewing, 10 a.m. to noon Sunday at Romero Chapel, 110 Cleveland, Pueblo. Vigil Rosary, 7 p.m. Monday. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Tuesday, both services at Sacred Heart Church, Alamosa, Colo. Celebrant, Rev. Bill Gleeson. Interment, Alamosa Cemetery, Alamosa, Colo.

Catalano, Sharon
Sharon “Sherry” Catalano - Pueblo Chieftain - May 07, 2003 - Sharon “Sherry” Catalano, 65, went home to be with the Lord on May 3, 2003. Sherry was born on Nov. 24, 1937, to the union of Roy Howard and Betsy Jane Harter. She will be remembered by her special companion, Michael Lagle; children, Bruce Kelver, Kelly (Terry) Stewart, Scott (Mary) Kelver, Brent Kelver; grandchildren, Hillary Kelver, Clinton, Andrew and Christopher Stewart, Dustin and Jami Kelver; brothers and sisters, Bob Howard, Verna (Gene) Bailor, Betty (Sam) Musso; adored pets, Miss T, Max and Lace. Sherry was always very independent and had the will and passion to accept change and the desire to see and do as much as she could throughout her lifetime. The family respectfully requests contributions to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Adrian Comer Garden Chapel with inurnment to follow at Roselawn.

Catalino, Tina
Tina Catalino - Pueblo Chieftain - May 18, 2000 - Tina Catalino passed away May 16, 2000, after a lengthy illness. Tina loved the mountains and would spend her summers there just enjoying God's creation. She was a member of St. Leander Choir, Legion of Mary and the St. Leander Prayer Group. Tina is survived by her loving husband, Mike Catalino, with whom she had just celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary. Also surviving are her children, Phyllis (Fred) Salazar, Micki Catalino, Mike (Karilyn) Catalino, Stefanie (Tom) Palko and Phillip (Paula) Catalino; sisters and brothers, Lizzy Trujillo, Leo (Laura) Trujillo, Manuel Trujillo, Stella (Tom) Mondragon, Joe Trujillo, Cecelia (Leo) Garcia; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, who will always remember her with love for all of the rompers she made for each and every one. Special nieces, Theresa Armijo and Marty Stabile, as well as numerous nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends also survive her. Her mother, Estefanita Trujillo and father, Manuel Trujillo, sister, Lydia Martinez and brother, Ray Trujillo, preceded her in death. Visitation at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, prior to the recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2000, at Adrian Comer Garden Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2000, at St. Leander Church. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Kidney Foundation, 3801 East Florida Avenue No. 503, Denver, Colo., 80210, would be appropriate.

Cater, Eugene W.
Eugene “Gene” Cater - Pueblo Chieftain – October 4, 2006 - Eugene W. "Gene" Cater, 74, died in Canon City. He is survived by his children, Gena (Jake) Mouriquand of Canon City; Nanette (Doug) Even of Colorado Springs, Vickie (Mike) Butts of Canon City and Diana Globoker of Spearfish, S.D.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Raised in Pueblo, Gene graduated from Pleasantview High School in 1951. He moved to Canon City in 1959, worked for the Department of Corrections and started the Cater Trash Service retiring from both in the early 1990s. An avid animal lover, he also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, being with friends and fishing. Cremation, Wilson Crematory. Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at 217 Ridgmar Square, in Canon City, for a celebration of his life. Please omit flowers. Marilee Orr Cater - Pueblo Chieftain - September 26, 2003 - Marilee Orr Cater, 69, of Colorado Springs, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2003. She was born March 4, 1934 in Pueblo, Colo. to Ord and Althea Orr. She is preceded in death by her father, and son Wesley Cater. She is survived by her Mother, two daughters, Genalee (Jake) Mouriquand and Nanette (Doug) Even, grandchildren, Richard Mouriquand, Jeremiah Even, Angela Farmer and Nicole Cater; sister, Jeanine (G.A.) Moser and brother Dean (Bonnie) Orr. Memorial Services will be held Sunday, September 28, 2003, 1:00 p.m. at the First Evangelical Free Church, 820 N. 30th St., Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Evangelical Free Church Benevolence fund. Private interment will be held Friday, September 26, 2003 at Roselawn Cemetery in Pueblo.

Martha Ann Cates - Pueblo Chieftain - November 20, 2005 - Martha Ann Cates, 61, passed away Nov. 15, 2005. She was preceded in death by her son, Denise LeRoy Kennedy. She is survived by her children, Roberta (Tim) Brown and Steven Kennedy; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Mary and Margaret; brother, Earl; numerous nieces and nephews. Martha was a member of the Salvation Army Church. Viewing, 2 to 5 p.m. Monday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Funeral service, 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home. Cremation will follow. Donations may be made to the Salvation Army or to the family.

Cathey, Marvin L.
Marvin L. Cathey - Pueblo Chieftain - May 16, 2000 - Marvin L. Cathey, 74, passed away May 14, 2000. Survived by his wife, Donna Cathey, of the family home. Born July 17, 1925, in Minnesota. At his request there will be no viewing or services. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium.

Catulli, John Alfred
John Alfred "Ted" Catulli - Pueblo Chieftain - December 17, 1998 - John Alfred "Ted" Catulli, 71, passed away Dec. 15, 1998. Survived by wife, Theresa M. Catulli- children, Fred Catulli, Ray (Sharon) Catulli, Cindy Dickerson, Geri (Matt) Lane- sister, Bonnie (Mike) Fossceco- brother-in-law, Tony (Sybil) Tortessi- grandchildren, Jerod Dickerson, Jackie Throndson, Jenni Catulli, Randi Jo Failing, Arianne Lane- and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents, John and Caroline Catulli- and grandson, Darrell Dickerson. Mr. Catulli retired in 1989 from Civil Service and was a member of FOE No. 145. Viewing, Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Mass, Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, 1 p.m., at The Shrine of St. Therese. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery. Caulder, Roy Jr.
Roy "C.J." Caulder Jr. - Pueblo Chieftain - July 13, 1999 - Roy "C.J." Caulder Jr., 18, of Pueblo, passed away July 11, 1999. A student of Centennial High School where he was loved by many of his fellow students and teachers. Roy was preceded in death by his grandfather, J.T. Caulder. He is survived by his parents, Roy and Eva Caulder- sister, Kristina Caulder-best friend, Zach Coolidge- grandparents, Anna Belle Caulder and Charles and Kay Taylor- as well as numerous relatives and friends. , 10a.m. Saturday, July 17, 1999, at Praise Assembly of God Church. Visitation at the funeral home from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday.

Verna M. Cavanah - Pueblo Chieftain - December 28, 2003 - Verna M. Cavanah of Pueblo died Dec. 24, 2003. She was born May 8, 1929, in Kendell, Kan. Verna is survived by her loving husband, Robert E. (Bob) Cavanah, Pueblo; daughters, Candace (Vernon) Smith, Arlington, Va., Sandy (Tracy) Lewis, Laguna Niguel, Calif.; six grandchildren, Rob (Yvette) Lyons, Boise, Idaho, Marc Lyons, Pueblo, Skye Lewis, San Francisco, Calif., Jamey Lewis, Laguna Niguel, Calif., Anne Ransome, Santa Fe, N.M., Aaron Ransome, St. Louis, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Sarah Lyons, Boise, Idaho, Matthew Lyons, Pueblo. Survived by sisters, Wilma (George) Kardaseski, Littleton, Colo., Helen Poe, Flemington, Mo.; brothers, John (Alice) Jury, Pratt, Kan., Orren (Elaine) Jury, Las Animas, Colo., Ralph Jury, Lakin, Kan.; brothers-in-law, Roland (Elva) Cavanah, Swink, Colo., Jerre (Merliyn) Cavanah, Littleton, Colo. Also, survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation, as requested by Verna, is being handled by Roselawn Cemetery and Funeral Home. Private memorial services were conducted by immediate family members. Cavaness, Dorothy May
Dorothy May Cavaness - The La Veta Signature - April 14, 1988 - Dorothy May Cavaness, age 72, born July 5, 1915 in Omaha, NE, died April 11, 1988. She graduated from Classen High School. She was a former clerk for the School Board of Western Heights for 18 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of the Putnam City United Methodist Church, where she was in the choir and was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class and the Esther Circle. She was a member of the Hermosa Club in Cuchara, and the La Veta United Methodist Church, where she was also in the choir and a member of the patience Circle. She was a charter member of the Modern Study Club, the OKC Clipper Club and Friends of the Arts. she is survived by her husband Dan M.; two sons, Dan W. and his wife Candy of OKC, Rick and his wife Janice of Farmington, N.M.; a daughter, Carol and her husband, Capt. Robert Curry, Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Mrs. Gene Morrison of Tulsa; 4 grandchildren, Denise and Jeff Cavaness, Jenifer and Chris Curry; numerous nieces and nephews.

Augusta “Gussie” Cave - Pueblo Chieftain - October 01, 2005 - Augusta “Gussie” Cave, born Dec. 25, 1919, died Sept. 29, 2005. Survived by children Dick (Kathy) Caple, David (Peggy) Caple, Pueblo, Gale Williams, Manzanola; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren. Preceded by husband Bert Cave, son-in-law Clarence Williams, parents and sister. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, Manzanola, CO 81058. John Guadaloupe Cavender – Pueblo Chieftain – September 19, 2006 - John Guadaloupe Cavender, 68, of Pueblo, passed away on Sept. 15, 2006. Preceded in death by his parents, Elvira (Buck) Cavender; sister, Sarah; and father-in-law, Roy Hewitt. Survived by his spouse, Wilma Cavender; mother-in-law, Sarah Elizabeth Hewitt; son, Bruce (Mary Beth) Cavender; daughters, Crystal Cavender and Brandy (Mike Bochatey) Cavender; grandchildren, Bret, Kristy Ann, Shelby, Diamond, Tatyana, Donovan and Riley; brother, Roy Cavender; sisters, Delores (Willie) Johnson, Christine Sellers and Bonnie (Darrel) Adams; special nephew and other relatives and friends. Memorial service, 2 p.m. Wednesday, Romero Chapel. Relatives and friends will be received at Romero Courtesy Hall following service. Jack Caviness - Huerfano World - December 4, 2003 - This Week in Walsenburg History - 1921: We have a report that Jack Caviness, son of the late town marshal John Caviness, was burned to death in California.

Cawthra, Fred
Fred Cawthra - Newspaper Unknown - April 19, 1999 - Fred Cawthra, 96, of Akron and formerly of Otis, died Friday, April 16 1999 in Akron. Visitation is today, April 19 at Yeamans & Gordon Memorial Chapel from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 20 at Yeamans & Gordon Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m. with the Rev. James Cosner officiating. Burial will follow at Otis Cemetery. Mr. Cawthra was born on April 5, 1903 in DeNova, Colo. to Samuel Cawthra and Bertha Jessie Cawthra. Mr. Cawthra worked for a short time in coal mines near Walsenburg before buying a homestead in 1927 and farming, thrashing and corn shelling. He also dug and repaired water wells. Mr. Cawthra married Jessie Borland on April 4, 1923. He is survived by a son, Junior Cawthra of North Platte, Neb.; a daughter, Vera Salling and husband Dale of Brighton; and a sister, Eva Harding of Evergreen. He was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Cawthra; a daughter, Ella Louise Keim; and four brothers, Edward, Henry, Harold and Oliver. Memorial may be made to the Washington County Nursing Home.

Caywood, Star
Star Caywood - Huerfano World - July 22, 1993 - Huerfano County Diary - Twenty-Five Years Ago - Star Caywood, 53, popular state official, lost his life July 18 by drowning. While fishing on Martin Lake, his boat was overturned by a strong gust of wind. His wife and a companion survived.
