Tomasa Bargas - Pueblo Chieftain - June 17, 2004 - Tomasa Bargas, 102, of Pueblo, went home to be with the Lord on June 13, 2004. She was born Dec. 29, 1901, in Irapuato, Mexico. Preceded in death by her husband, Joaquin; son, James; and brothers and sisters. Survived by children, Alice Cruz, Consuelo (Alfonso) Gomez, Esther Romero, Dan (Yulia) Bargas, Pete (Liz) Bargas and Helen (Joe) Quintana; also survived by 30 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren and numerous other family members. She enjoyed crocheting and her family. Visitation, 1 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, at Romero Chapel. Vigil rosary, 6 p.m. Thursday, and funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Friday; both at Holy Family Church. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery.

Barger, Dorothy Agnes
Dorothy Agnes Duggan Barger - Hickory Daily Record – August 7, 2004 - Hickory, NC - Dorothy Agnes Duggan Barger, 73, of Fifth Avenue, NE, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at Lutheran Home East after a period of declining health. Born July 1, 1931, in Hoehne County, Colo., she was a daughter of the late Royal Edward and Edna Pearl Blessing Duggan. A member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, she was self-employed by Barger Realty and as an Avon representative. She also was a very active member of Hickory Recreation Department. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Thomas Barger Sr. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Marie Ledford and husband, Jim, and Catherine Denise Barger Fritz and fiancé, Terry Smith, of Hickory; three sons, Floyd Thomas Barger Jr. of Johnson City, Tenn., and Michael Edward Barger and wife, Sharon, and Alan Wayne Barger of Hickory; four granddaughters, Kristina Ledford and Aarin Ledford of Hickory, Alisha Elaine Barger of Davie, Fla., and Hailey Barger of Granite Falls; three grandsons, Joseph Fritz, Michael Fritz and Devin Michael Barger of Hickory; and a great-grandson, Gabriel Michael Barger. The funeral will be conducted by Fathers Bob Ferris and Enrique Gonzalez at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park. A Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the family will then receive friends at the church from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Hickory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Edwin Barger; and infant son, Donald Edwin Barger Jr. Survived by her daughters, Donna Mae (Charles) McGonigal, Dora Lee Beeman; son, Daniel Kyle (Judy) Barger; grandchildren, Lee (Debbie), Charles (Lorretta), Gary (Stephanie), Jeff (Jessica) McGonigal, Cheryl (Steve) Stallings, Michael Rolland (Vicky) Beeman, Glenn Alan Beeman and John Edwin (Debra) Beeman, Travis (Breann) Barger, Jess (Raine) Barger; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Memorial service, 2 p.m. Friday, Imperial Funeral Home Chapel.

Barger, Lawrence G.
Lawrence G. Barger - Pueblo Chieftain - March 31, 1999 - Lawrence G. Barger, 71,, passed away March 29, 1999. Mr. Barger was an Army veteran of the Korean War and has been active with the VFW Post No. 5812 in Pueblo West, the American Legion and he was a volunteer at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital for five years. Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Betty, of 27 years; brother, Winfred (Ruth) Barger, Carthage, N.C.; sister, Mary Ann (Jimmy) Shaner, Natural Bridge, Va.; son (adopted), Larry Barger of Virginia; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. No viewing. Private services will be held at a later date. Cremation.

Baril, Roger Henry
Roger Henry Baril - Pueblo Chieftain - October 13, 1997 - Roger Henry Baril passed away Oct. 11, 1997, at 74 years of age. He was born Feb. 16, 1923, in Berlin, N.H., to the late Victoria (Morin) Baril and the late Thomas Baril, both from Canada, and was raised in Hartford, Conn. He is survived by wife, Eleanor Baril of 52 years- son, James Baril, Pueblo- daughter, Paulette Frazer, Lakeside, Calif.- grandchildren, Steve and Glenn Frazer, Lakeside, Calif., James, Brandie, Jason and Jeremy, all of Pueblo- and numerous nieces and nephews- as well as close friends, James Cooper, Harry Walker and Patricia Baril, for whom he cared for very much. Preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister. Roger was a wonderful husband and father and will be greatly missed by those who knew him. He was a teacher at the old Pueblo Junior College and retired in 1988 from Dana Corp. after 35 years. He served in the 586th AAF Base Unit in WWII. Rosary, 7 p.m. Tuesday and funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Wednesday, Holy Family Church. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends and respectfully requests food at their home, 1906 Ridgewood, following the interment and would like to thank the staff at IHS and the staff at Dialysis for their great care. He is survived by his brother, Joe Barker; several nieces and nephews; and his special friends, the Frazier and Kennedy families. Jess James Barker - Pueblo Chieftain - August 22, 1997 - Jess James Barker passed away Aug. 16, 1997. Born on Oct. 2, 1910, in Galena, Mo. Married to Sylvia Lee (Comstock) Barker, March 18, 1935. Mr. Barker lived in Pueblo since 1939. He worked for the railroad (American Refrigerator Transit Co.) for 27 years and owned and operated a service station for 10 years. He loved fishing, hunting and gardening, and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all. Preceded in death by his parents, William Wylie Barker, Mary Ann (Essick) Barker- wife, Sylvia Lee Barker- brothers, James Barker, Clarence Barker, John Barker, Charley Barker- sister, Goldie Carter- grandchild, Virginia Lardner. Barker, Joseph A
Joseph A. Barker – Pueblo Chieftain- August 9, 2006 - Joseph A. Barker, 86, of Pueblo, passed away Aug. 5, 2006. He was survived by his nieces, Sharon Drake, and Joann (Jim) Warren; nephews, Bill McCarthy, John Harbour, and many special neighbors and friends. Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Barker; parents, James and Ursula; brothers Harry Barker, Ludwig Barker; sister, Olga Vaughn, Francis Harbour, Martha Barker, Mary McCarthy. Joseph served during World War II in the Army Air Force. He was owner/operator of Barker Service in Vineland for over 40 years. Joseph loved spending time bowling and fishing. One of his favorite fishing places was La Veta, Colo. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Kevin Johnson and his staff; Jennifer, Alison, and Tammy of Frontier Hospice; Parkview Medical Center's Home Care nurse, Eva White; and Joe's special friend Judy. Barker, Martha Jane
Martha Jane (Lardner) Barker - Pueblo Chieftain - February 24, 2004 - Martha Jane (Lardner) Barker, 61, passed away Feb. 22, 2004. Survived by her husband, Charles W. Barker; children, James (Tina) Lardner and Anna Lardner; stepchildren, Stuart (Denise) Barker, Sylvia (Frank) Couey and Stacy (Deanna) Barker; brother, John (Leslie) Miner; grandchildren, Nicholas, Megan and Elizabeth "Beth" Lardner; step-grandchildren, Kayla and Tyler Barker, Wilie Couey and Kristy and Jessica Barker; nephew, Steve (Jennifer) Miner; and great-nephews, Steve and Logan Miner. Preceded in death by her parents, Jane and Tracy Coit Miner Jr.; and daughter, Virginia Lardner. Martha attended Ascension Episcopal Church and was a life-long Episcopalian. She was an active Christian and was involved in many outreach programs. She also was a member of Prison Fellowship Ministry and Angel Tree Ministry (children of incarcerated parents). She brought the Word into prisons and to families of the incarcerated. She was extremely involved in Angel Tree Christmas and Angel Tree Camping and enjoyed being with these children. Martha and her husband also were members of Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA). She loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. At her request, there will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at Ascension Episcopal Church, 18th and Grand, with the Rev. Father Ephraim Radner officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Ascension Episcopal Columbarium. Ruby Barker - Pueblo Chieftain - February 15, 2006 - Ruby Barker, 67, of Pueblo, went to be with the Lord Feb. 10, 2006. Preceded in death by her husband, Harold Barker; and her parents, Loren and Iola Hines. She is survived by her daughters, Anita Schultz and Beverly Lupo; brother, James Hines; grandchildren, Michael Smith, Heather Lincoln, Dusty Smith, Christina Lupo and John L. Lupo IV; and great grandchildren, Sierra Lincoln, Justin Lincoln, Jaylynn Smith, Kreslyn Smith and Heavenleigh Lupo. At Ruby's request, cremation has already taken place. Family memorial service, 1 p.m. Saturday, Aztec Apartments Community Room.

Sylvia L. (Comstock) Barker - Pueblo Chieftain - July 13, 1997 - Sylvia L. (Comstock) Barker passed away July 9, 1997. Born Jan. 16, 1916, in Oklahoma. Married to Jess James Barker on March 18, 1935. Survived by husband, Jess James Barker- children, Charles (Martha) Barker and Mary Lou (Charles) Gash- grandchildren, Corey Gash, Sylvia, Stuart and Stacy (Deanna) Barker and Anna and Jim (Tina) Lardner- great-grandchildren, Kristy, Jessica, Kayla and Tyler Barker and Elizabeth and Nicholas Lardner- many nieces and nephews, including, Verla and Elmer Geller- sisters, Virgie Amack and Ora Bea (Roy) Strauss- and brother, Roy (Norma) Comstock. Preceded in death by parents, Claude and Myrtle Comstock- sisters, Nettie Amack and Helen Peck- brother, Ray Comstock- and granddaughter, Virginia Lardner. Sylvia moved to Pueblo in 1938 and worked for Chet's markets for many years. She loved cooking and gardening, especially her roses. She was an avid Bronco fan and will be greatly missed by all. William Barker - Pueblo Chieftain - May 26, 1922 - William Barker, aged 74 years died May 25 at a local hospital. Body at T. G. McCarthy's. Pueblo Chieftain - May 27, 1922 - The funeral of William Barker will take place Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the funeral chapel of T. G. McCarthy and company. The burial will be at Roselawn.

Barkman, H. Frank
H. Frank Barkman - Pueblo Chieftain - November 16, 1999 - H. Frank Barkman, 90, a prominent Pueblo resident, passed away Nov. 13, 1999. Survived by his wife, Marie Lamb Barkman of the family home and his daughter, Marie Blue of Denver. At his request, there will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Rite of Burial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at the Ascension Episcopal Church, 420 W. 18th St., with the Rev. Ephraim Radner officiating.

Barkman, Marie Lamb
Marie Edna Nelson Davidson Lamb Barkman - Pueblo Chieftain - September 11, 2002 - Marie Edna Nelson Davidson Lamb Barkman, 103, passed away Sept. 10, 2002. Longtime Pueblo resident, socialite and philanthropist. Born Sept. 14, 1898, in Denver, to Martin Elias and Augusta Rose Nelson. Preceded in death by her parents; and four siblings, Thora Alfhilda, Anna Caroline, Charles Nicholas and Theodore Edward; and by her husbands, Ray Davidson, Frank Lamb and Frank Barkman. After finishing business college in Chicago, Marie married Ray Davidson and spent time in Washington, D.C., and Virginia, during World War I and its aftermath. Married to Frank Lamb in 1922, she shuttled between Los Angeles and Chicago, moving to Pueblo in 1949, where Lamb came as owner of Triplex, then the largest aluminum piston manufacturer in the world. At Lamb's death in 1953, Triplex was sold. Marie married Frank Barkman in 1956. The two headed a charitable foundation in Lamb's memory, which was instrumental in supporting the Pueblo Library, funding two branches on the South Side and in Belmont, which bear Lamb's and Barkman's names. The two also supported other Pueblo charities, including the YWCA and the El Pueblo Boys Ranch. Marie and Frank were named “Citizens of the Year” by the Pueblo Chamber of Commerce in 1991. Frank Barkman died on Nov. 13, 1999. Marie was active in several community and social groups, and was for a long time head of the Rector's Guild at Ascension Episcopal Church, where she and Frank Barkman were devoted members. A woman of strength, concern for her community, and joy in life, she leaves Pueblo saddened by the passing of a great citizen and woman, and grateful for her presence among us. At her request, there will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at Ascension Episcopal Church, 18th and Grand Ave., with the Rev. Dr. Ephraim Radner officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. Edna I. Barksdale - Pueblo Chieftain - February 03, 1999 - Edna I. Barksdale, 79, passed away Feb. 2, 1999. Survived by her husband, Edwin Barksdale; son, Charles W. Barksdale of NH; three grandsons, Jason, Jonathan and Evan Barksdale, all of NH; brother, E.J. (Mardale) Wilson, Texas; sisters-in-law, Anita Barksdale and LaVerne Edwards, both of Pueblo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by son, Roger Barksdale; two sisters and one brother. Barlow, Clarence A.
Clarence A. "Bus" Barlow - Pueblo Chieftain - April 10, 2003 - Clarence A. "Bus" Barlow, 88, born Feb. 13, 1915, passed away April 7, 2003. Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Helen Barlow; daughter, Peg (Don) Peterson; grandchildren, Elizabeth K. Peterson and Hugh Barlow Peterson; brothers-in-law, George (Martha) Dyer, Pueblo West, and Kenneth Dyer of England; and sister-in-law, Mazie (Jack) Kallapos of Pennsylvania. Preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. He was retired as a drafting room supervisor at Delaval Turbine of Trenton, N.J., and moved to Pueblo West in 1989. "Bus" was a member of the Pueblo West Ecumenical Church. He and his wife loved to travel. He was also a member of the Holiday Rambler Group and Pueblo West Campers. At his request, Cremation, Almont Crematory. Memorial service, 11 a.m. Saturday Pueblo West Ecumenical Church. Barlow, Larry
Larry Barlow - Pueblo Chieftain - December 12, 1999 - Larry Barlow, 83, of Pueblo, passed away Dec. 10, 1999. Larry enjoyed being a volunteer at the local soup kitchen and served our country as a WWII veteran. He was also a deacon at Lynn Gardens Baptist Church, as well as the custodian, and was very active in church functions. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Ruth Barlow; children, Jane, Bob, Bill, Richard, Carolind, Kenneth, Sue and Tom; two sisters, Bea Day and Evelyn Casebier. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Lynn Gardens Baptist Church. Interment in Mountain View Cemetery.

Barnablo, August C.
August C. Barnablo - Huerfano World - November 29, 1990 - Funeral service for former Walsenburg resident, August C. Barnablo, 80, of Milwaukee, WI, was held today in that city. Mr. Barnablo died of an apparent heart attack on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 1990. Born in Montana, Mr. Barnablo lived and worked in the mines around Walsenburg for a number of years before becoming a career U.S. Air Force man. He retired from the Air Force and returned to Walsenburg, then moved to Wisconsin to live with a niece after suffering a stroke in 1984. Survivors include the niece, Susan Heim, Milwaukee. Burial was in the Veterans' Cemetery in Milwaukee.

Marion Olive Barnard - Pueblo Chieftain - September 19, 2001 - Marion Olive Barnard, 88, passed away Sept. 16, 2001, in Pueblo. Survived by her daughter, Marianne (Mark E.) Angel, Pueblo; sister, Frances Cogburn, Greeley; grandchildren, Michael Angel, Matthew Angel, Patty Moriarty, Kathy (James) Mitchell, Kim (Pat) Torres, Gary Barnard, Becci Saunders, Brian Wilkinson and Brett Wilkinson; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Earl C. Barnard; parents, Perry F. and Orpha C. Bowser; sister, Claudean Nation; and stepsons, Earl C. Barnard Jr. and James E. Barnard. Born Jan. 18, 1913, in Kansas City, Kan. Marion and Earl were married in 1940. Marion was a teacher in Florence, retiring in 1978. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, serving as deacon and also a member of Presbyterian Women. At her request, there will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Union Highland Cemetery in Florence. Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at First Presbyterian Church, 220 W. 10th St. in Pueblo with Rev. Deborah Kehle Como officiating. Those who desire may make memorials to the Older Adult Ministry of First Presbyterian Church through the funeral home.

Barner, Frederick
Officer Frederick Barner - Pueblo Police Department - March 1909 - On the evening of March 21, 1909, Officer Barner attempted to arrest two suspects thought to have committed several burglaries. After informing the two that they were going to be arrested, Barner approached the police call box to summon the patrol wagon. One of the suspects, the taller of the two, stepped back, pulled a revolver and shot Barner through the heart. Barner died instantly. The two suspects fled on foot and successfully eluded police.

Barnes, Audrey Mae
Audrey Mae Barnes - Pueblo Chieftain - October 02, 1997 - Audrey Mae Barnes, 69, of Canon City died Sept. 30, 1997. She was born on March 26, 1928, in Sidney, Neb., to Roy and Bonnie Waters, and was raised in New Castle, Colo. Mrs. Barnes was retired from the Colorado State Hospital in Pueblo. She and her late husband, Fred, built and operated the Barnes Greenhouse in Canon City for approximately 15 years until their retirement in 1986. Mrs. Barnes was a life member and past Royal Matron of Laurel Court No. 16, Order of the Amaranth of Pueblo, a member of Canon City Chapter No. 21, Order of the Eastern Star and had been a member of Daughters of the Nile of Pueblo. She was also very involved with Fred in many other Masonic and Al Kaly Shrine organizations and had helped serve the Masonic Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner for the public since 1988. She was also a council member of Bethel No. 41 of Canon City, of the International Order of Job's Daughters. She was married to Frederick E. Barnes on April 2, 1947, in Raton, N.M. and this past April celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Barnes is survived by son, Gerald Barnes and daughter, Sheryl (Garen) Landrum, all of Canon City. She is also survived by grandchildren, Michelle (Rick) Salaz and three great-granddaughters of Colorado Springs, Steven Barnes and two great-grandsons of Pueblo, and Misti and Brandi Landrum of Canon City- sister, LaVere (Mel) Ames of Eureka, Calif.- brothers-in-law, George (Mary) Barnes and Lewis Barnes, all of Pueblo, Darrell (Jean) Barnes of Colorado Springs- and a sister-in-law, Betty Jo (Kenny) Trotter of Longview, La.- and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 10 days by her husband, Frederick Eugene Barnes- a son, Frederick Wayne" Barnes in March 1968, both parents and a sister, Eugenia Marshall. s will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Comer Garden Chapel, 2710 N. Elizabeth, Pueblo, with Rev. Dennis Sillaman of Canon City officiating. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Canon City. Viewing hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Because of her dedication to the many organizations she belonged to, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment (HIKE) fund through Job's Daughters to help fund hearing devices for children in Colorado. Dora Barnes - Pueblo Chieftain - December 09, 2004 - Dora Barnes, 73, of Pueblo, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 5, 2004. Born in Holly, Colo., on Aug. 29, 1931. Barnes, Edward Franklin
Edward Franklin Barnes – Albuquerque Journal - September 18, 1998 - Edward Franklin Barnes, born October 7, 1917 in Lily Park, CO, died September 11, 1998 at St. Joseph's N.E. Heights Medical in Albuquerque. His parents were Waller and Mary Davis Barnes. He was baptized in a Christian church in 1931 and raised on the ranch at Lily Park. He graduated high school at Canon City, CO and attended college at Colorado State University. Mr. Barnes served in WWII in the Navy in the South Pacific for four years on the USS Monterey. He owned a gun shop in Craig, CO and later worked at Pueblo Ordinance Depot for several years before moving to Albuquerque. He married Anita Preston in Albuquerque on March 12, 1960; she preceded him in death in 1968. He retired in 1968 from ACF and married Claire Misselwitz on August 12, 1977 in Albuquerque. Edward led an exemplary Christian life and enjoyed his family. Most recently, he was involved at Palo Duro Senior Center and Bear Canyon Senior Center Camera Clubs, winning numerous awards. Loving memories include his contribution of Jeff Davis Pies that won praise from all. Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Claire; step-children, Sylvia Hill and Michelle Webb; grandchildren, Denise Morales, Deanna Peterson, Casey Webb and Kelly Webb; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Helen "Tots" Silzell of Alamosa, CO, Lillian Pickering of Grand Junction, CO, and Dolly Parker of Ft. Morgan, CO; cousin, Lee W. Schulz of Albuquerque; and extended loving family and numerous friends.

Barnes, Frederick Eugene
Frederick Eugene Barnes - Pueblo Chieftain - September 22, 1997 - Frederick Eugene Barnes, 73, of Canon City, departed this life on Sept. 20, 1997. Mr. Barnes was born on Jan. 20, 1924, in Marble, Colo., to George and Myrtle Barnes. He is survived by his wife, Audrey, whom he married on April 2, 1947, in Raton, N.M., and this past April celebrated his golden anniversary with her. Also survived by son, Gerald Barnes- and daughter, Sheryl (Garen) Landrum, all of Canon City- grandchildren, Michelle (Rick) Salaz of Colorado Springs, Steven Barnes of Pueblo, and Misti and Brandi Landrum of Canon City- and special family friend, Maggiebell Loesch of Canon City. He is also survived by three brothers and one sister, George (Mary) Barnes, and Lewis Barnes, all of Pueblo, and Darrell (Jean) Barnes of Colorado Springs, Betty Jo (Kenny) Trotter of Longville, La.- five great-grandchildren- and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by son, Frederick Wayne, in 1968- both parents- stepmother, Edna Barnes- sisters, Bernedette Barnes and Lieuvernia Wright- and brother, James Hankins. Mr. Barnes joined the United States Army and served during World War II as a paratrooper. During that time he received two Purple Hearts among other honors, and later received an honorable discharge. He was a life member in the Canon City VFW and DAV. After the war, he was employed by CF&I in Pueblo and retired from there in 1984 after more than 30 years of employment. Mr. Barnes and wife, Audrey, built and operated Barnes Greenhouse in Canon City for approximately 15 years until he retired from that in 1986. Mr. Barnes was extremely active in all aspects of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member and Past Master of Silver Cliff Lodge No. 38 in Westcliffe and currently secretary for the lodge, and member and Past Master of Eureka Lodge No. 66 in Coal Creek. He was a life member in the following organizations: Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Colorado York Rite Masons, Knights of York Cross of Honour Pikes Peak Priory No. 21, Al Kaly Shrine of Southern Colorado, Pueblo Shrine Club, and Laurel Court No. 16 Order of the Amaranth and Past Royal Patron and currently serving the court as Royal Patron. He was also a member of the following: Southern Colorado York Rite College No. 109, Cripple Creek Chapter No. 33 Royal Arch Masons, Royal Order of Scotland, Grand Council AMD, Canon City Chapter No. 21 Order of Eastern Star and Past Patron, Colorado Springs Shrine Club, Fremont County Shrine Club and past President, Al Kaly Legion of Honor and past Commander, Al Kaly Nomads and past Wagonmaster, Al Kaly Patriots. He had also been a member and past President of Al Kaly Little T's and a member and past president of the Sand Dunes Shrine Club in the San Luis Valley. He worked very hard the last several years organizing the Masonic Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners that are held for the public to ensure everyone had a nice, hot meal on the holidays. Mr. Barnes always took the time to work with the youth. At one time he had been involved in leadership of the Beulah Valley Junior Rifle Club, Boy Scouts and Little League baseball in Beulah, and of late had been active since 1988 in the organization and continuance of Bethel No. 41 of Canon City, of the International Order of Job's Daughters where he had been Secretary and Associate Bethel Guardian. Due to his dedication to these organizations, the family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations can be made to the H.I.K.E. (Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment) through Job's Daughters to help fund hearing devices for children in Colorado or the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospitals to aid children to walk. , 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997, at Comer Garden Chapel. Richmond Floyd Barnes - Pueblo Chieftain - July 19, 2002 - Richmond Floyd Barnes, retired Air Force master sergeant and fisherman extraordinaire, passed away July 16, 2002, at his home. "I understand, why the old fisherman, sails along. He'll soon be gone." Present was his wife, Oleta Barnes; his son, Randel Barnes; one of his daughters, Rhonda Shannon Myers; two of his granddaughters, Tiffany Barnes and Lindsey Barnes, who adored him; and his daughter-in-law, Patty Barnes. He had recently been surrounded by those he loved: his other daughters, Suzanne Payton of Hephzibah, Ga., Retha Gabrielson and her husband, Carl Gabrielson, and their children; his grandchildren, Josh and Eric Gabrielson of Cottage Grove, Ore. Unable to visit but there in spirit is another daughter, Dawn Barnes of Tucson, Ariz. He is also survived by many grandchildren: Craig Hardy, Sandra Myers, Kevin Myers, Adriane Morgan and Collen Morgan; and numerous great-grandchildren; as well as numerous relatives in Texas and Alabama. He is preceded in death by many relatives, including his only full-blood brother whom he loved dearly, William Boyd "Possum" Barnes. Floyd was a wonderful man who was loved by all who knew him: family, fishing buddies and neighbors alike. We will all miss him greatly. William was a World War II veteran, and a lifelong resident of Pueblo. He also was a member of the Elks and the Masons. William was retired from CF&I after 41 years of service. He had been a resident of the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home in Florence. Survived by his cousin, Patricia M. Behr of Silverthorne, Colo. At his request, cremation with no services.

Madeline Barnett – Pueblo Chieftain – January 14, 1999 - Madeline Barnett, 82, was born October 17, 1916, in Ellis, Kansas, to the union of Roea and William Johnson. At the age of six, Madeline moved with her family to Arlington where she attended school and later met Joe Barnett. June 26, 1935, Joe and Madeline were married and moved to Eads. They had three children: Gloria, Billy and Kay. Madeline was a homemaker and active through the years as a 4-H leader, Rainbow Sponsor, and a member of the Eastern Star. She taught tap dancing and made costumes for the dance recitals. She enjoyed sewing, reading books and p1aying the piano. In 1963, Madeline and Joe moved to Pueblo, Colorado. After Joe retired from the Missouri Pacific Railroad in 1970, they enjoyed those years camping and having family gatherings in their back yard. Joe and Madeline were married for 61 years before Joe passed away October 23, 1996. Madeline Barnett is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Barnett; parents Roea and William Johnson, and a brother, Buddy Johnson. She is survived by her brothers Doyle (Katherine) Johnson and Gene Johnson; a sister Shirley (Clem) Schrank; children, Gloria (Dick) Weatherford of Ft. Myers, Florida, Billy (Lucy) Barnett of Eads and Kay (Jim) Grebenc of Pueblo; seven grandchildren, Dena (Rick) Sutor, Neil (Connie) Richardson, Derek (Chantel) Weatherford, Marty (Betsy) Barnett, Suzette (Barry) Koch, Michael Garner and Michelle (Robert) Morris, as well as thirteen great grandchildren. Madeline Barnett passed away January 12, 1999, at the Sharmar Village Care Center in Pueblo. She was a devoted wife and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all those who loved her. Grave side funeral services for Madeline Barnett were held Saturday, January 16, 1999, at the Eads Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. with L. D. Nelson officiating. Serving as casket bearers were Marty Barnett, Kyle Barnett, Neil Richardson, Robert Morris, Mike Garner and Barry Koch. Pat worked as a property manager in the Denver area. He is survived by his wife, Becky, his two sons, Brian and David, parents Bill and Edith Barnett of Pueblo, two sisters, Susie (Dennis) Shearer of Pueblo and Ginny (Randy) Gunther of Anchorage, AK. Pat was a fun-loving family man who loved his wife, children and family. One of his biggest joys in life was spending time at his ranch in Maybell, Colo. with those he loved. Barney, 93, born March 2, 1909, to the union of John Martin Horvat and Mary Katherine Petric, departed this life on Nov. 4, 2002. Predeceased by her baby daughter, Pamela May; mother, Mary K. Horvat; father, John M. Horvat; brothers, John (Mary) Horvat, Anthony and Frederick Horvat; sisters, Mary T. Horvat and Emma (Mickey) Barnosky; sisters-in-law, Sylvia, Julia and Jewell Horvat. She leaves to cherish her memory, sisters, Betty Nelson, Nadine “Ernie” DeGraw; brothers, Joseph (Betty) Horvat, Albert Horvat (Irene Wilson), Mark Horvat; and her beloved niece, Carole Drummond. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Ann will be remembered for the care she gave her family. She had a smile that could warm your heart and brighten your darkest day. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. John C. Barney - Pueblo Chieftain - October 20, 2004 - John C. Barney, 89 and 11 months of age, was called home Oct. 18, 2004. Preceded by loving wife, Catherine; grandson, Daniel; three brothers and a sister. Survived by children, Johnna, (Frank) Soudek, Larry Barney; special friend, Gayanne Hotzel, Pam (Claude) Watters; sister, Ruth Barney; grandchildren, Chris, Jeff, Jim, Shelly, Jamie, Nathan, Sarah, Rachel, Hannah and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Abby, Devin and Allie. John retired from the CF&I after 29 years of service. He loved fishing, camping, the outdoors, family gatherings and his puppy, Fluffy. Visitation, noon to 7 p.m. Thursday, at Imperial Funeral Home. Mabel V. Barney - Pueblo Chieftain - November 05, 1999- Mabel V. Barney, 84, of Rye, passed away Nov. 2, 1999. Preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Glenn H. Barney; and an infant son. She is survived by two sons, Kember M. Barney of Aurora, and Philip M. Barney of Portland, Ore. Also survived by one sister, Gladys McGee of Mobile, Ala. Mable will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and school teacher who enjoyed children and was also very active in the church. Barnhart, Mary E.
Mary E. Barnhart - Pueblo Chieftain - January 03, 2005 - Mary E. Barnhart, went to be with her Lord on Dec. 31, 2004, in Pueblo where she has lived after residing in the Wiley area for many years. Mary was born in Bent County on April 19, 1914, to Clifford P. and Maude D. (Miller) Stuart. Both parents preceded her in death. She was married to George Carr and Clyde Barnhart, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers, two daughters, a son-in-law, three grandchildren; and dear friend, Leola Downing of Lamar. She is survived by brother, Clifford (Alice) Stuart of Las Animas. Surviving children are Thomas Carr and Kathy (Dick) Caple of Pueblo, Jeannie Horn of Lamar and Mickey (Linda) Barnhart; and son-in-law, Keith Osban of Cheyenne, Wyo. She is also survived by grandchildren, Tonja Hirschler, Shauna (Danny) Boyd, Misty (Tuffy) Gonzales, Michele (Barry) Clemmensen, Heather Maestas, Jackie, Derek and Dustin Barnhart, Jamie and Justin Horn, Bill (D'Ann) Baxter, Jerry Miller, Jody Osban and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. William A. Barnhart - Pueblo Chieftain - June 15, 2000 - William A. Barnhart, born July 21, 1953, passed away after a brief illness on June 13, 2000. He is preceded in death by father, Raney L. Barnhart, 1983. Survived by mother, Olive Barnhart; sister, Mary (Gene) Wiant; brother, Raney Barnhart Jr.; three nieces, Debbie Bieker, Diana Wiant and Darla (Matt) Oreskovich; nephew, Brian (Gina) Wiant. Also survived by Jennifer Wiant, Sarrah and Stephanie Bieker, Kyla Wiant, Joshua and Denise Oreskovich, Cody, Meagan and Mandie Wiant. William was retired from the Air Force. Barnhurst, Kenneth
Kenneth Barnhurst – Pueblo Chieftain – September 02, 2006 - Kenneth Barnhurst, DMD MS, 58, passed away Aug. 30, 2006. Survived by his wife, Kathryn Barnhurst; children, Amy (George) Garcia of Pueblo, Eric (Megan) Barnhurst of Philadelphia, Pa., Ryan (Kristie) Barnhurst of Kent, Wash., and Adam (Alessa) Barnhurst of Denver; four siblings; nine grandchildren; and mother and father-in-law, Melva and Douglas Orgill of Pueblo, Colo. Preceded in death by a sister. Kenneth was born to Ora and Eric Barnhurst on July 21, 1948, in Hatch, Utah. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He owned and operated his periodontist clinic. He loved fishing and hunting. Kenneth was actively involved in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as President of the Pueblo Stake Center. He dedicated his life in the service of others; always put others before himself. He served a two year mission to Mexico City for the LDS Church. Viewing, 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Funeral service, 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4720 Surfwood Lane, with President George Garcia Sr. officiating. Emma Audrey Barnosky - Pueblo Chieftain - September 19, 2001 - Emma Audrey Barnosky, age 90, born June 13, 1911, passed away Sept. 15, 2001. Mrs. Barnosky is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Barnosky; three brothers; and one sister. She is survived by her sons, John (Paula) Barnosky, Joseph (Susan) Barnosky and Anthony (Elizabeth Hadly) Barnosky; grandchildren, Emma, Clara and Michael Barnosky; brothers, Albert Horvat, Joseph Horvat and Mark Horvat; and sisters, Anastasia Barney, Betty Nelson and Nadine DeGraw; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Emma was devoted to her family, which was her greatest joy, and her religion. She was a longtime member of St. Mary Church parish and the Bishop's Guild of Pueblo. Visitation, Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Funeral Mass, Thursday, 10 a.m., St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery. Barnosky, Joseph
Joseph Barnosky - World Independent – April 3, 1940 - Joseph Barnosky Dies At Farr - Joseph Barnosky, 65, died at his home in Farr this morning. He was born in Poland and came to the United States in 1890, settling first in Pennsylvania. He came to this county in 1905 and was a retired employee of the C.F.& I. corp. He is survived by his wife, Susann; four daughters, Mrs. J.C. Moberly of Dawson, N.M.; Mrs. G.R. Dale of Canon City; and Mrs. Susann O'Neil and Miss Elizabeth Barnosky of Farr. Two sons, Michael of Pueblo and John Hutman of Pryor also survive. Funeral arrangements are to be announced later by the Unfug-Peet mortuary.

Barnthouse, Francis
Frances Barnthouse - Pueblo Chieftain - September 05, 2001 - Frances Barnthouse, 74, of Fontana, Calif., formerly of Pueblo, passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2001. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Dwight Barnthouse. Frances is survived by her children, William (Barbara) Barnthouse of Baldwin Park, Calif., Jeanette (Curtis) Rodgers of Fontana, Calif., Carolyn (Kenneth) Scott of Fontana, Calif., Randy (Nancy) Barnthouse and Deborah (Paul) Barela, both of Pueblo; brother, Everett Miller of Midland, Texas; 23 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and numerous friends and relatives. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Lewis Barnum - Colorado Daily Chieftain – January 16, 1876 - The Late Lewis Barnum – The body of the late Lewis Barnum arrived in the city from the Summit House, Sangre de Cristo pass, on Saturday afternoon. The funeral services will take place at two o'clock p.m. on Sunday, January 16th, 1876, under the auspices of the Masonic fraternity. The following is the order of the ceremonies: Services at the late residence of the deceased. The procession will form at the late residence in the following order: Pueblo Cornet Band, Masonic Fraternity, Hearse and Pall Bearers, Relations of Deceased, Employees of Southern Overland Stage Company, Mayor and City Council, Friends of Deceased. The procession will then proceed under the direction of the master of ceremonies to the grave. Services at the grave. Colorado Daily Chieftain - January 19, 1876 - The funeral of the late Lewis Barnum, on Sunday afternoon was one of the largest gatherings of the kind ever known in this city.
