Arellano, Adeline
Adeline Gurule Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - February 03, 2001 - Adeline Gurule Arellano passed away Jan. 30, 2001, in Placentia, Calif. Mrs. Arellano lived most of her life in Colorado. She was a licensed practical nurse and was employed as the caretaker of former Gov. Billy Adams for several years. Adeline was preceded in death by her husband, Amarante; and her two sons, Cledis and A. Orlando. She is survived by her family, Priscilla and Ted Portillos, Jayne and Armond Marchant, Nina and Joe Marsala, Gerri and Michael Monohan, Norene and Barto Hulsey; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Arellano is also survived by two sisters, Flora and Edwina. Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel at Roselawn Cemetery. Viewing will be held one hour prior to services at the chapel at Roselawn. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Adeline's name to Gurule Arellano Prayer Chapel, Way of Life Church, P.O. Box 18085, Anaheim, CA, 92817.

Adelmo Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - July 26, 2005 - Adelmo Arellano 63, of Pueblo, Colo. passed away July 23, 2005. Adelmo was a loving, caring partner, and a dedicated, faithful father. Survived by Fiancée Juanita Quintana; Children, Valerie Bonte (Pete Jimenez), Sheila (Daniel) Hernandez, Jonathon Arellano; Brother, Dave Arellano; Nephew, Gabriel Gonzales, and 6 Grandchildren. Adelmo was preceded in death by his father Manuel Arellano, mother Rose Arellano, sister Rosalie Gonzalez, and brothers Manuel Arellano and Joe Romero. Memorial Services will be held at 2311 Wyoming Ave. Wed., July 27th, at 5:30p.m. Dinner following service.

Alfredo Ruben Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - July 21, 1999 - Alfredo Ruben Arellano, 77, a retired Pueblo Army Depot employee, passed away July 20, 1999, at Parkview Hospital. A Pueblo resident since 1951, Mr. Arellano was born Oct. 2, 1921, in Arroyo Hondo, N.M. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Arellano married his childhood sweetheart, Bertina Gonzales in 1947, in Arroyo Secco, N.M. He was an outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, camping and occasionally going to Cripple Creek. A member of St. Anne Catholic Church, and the Nocturnal Adoration Society. Preceded in death by his parents, Narciso and Maria Vigil Arellano- a sister, Guadalupe Virgil- in-laws, Alejandro and Romansita Gonzales. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 52 years, Bertina Arellano- children, Alberto (Yuni) Arellano, Macario Arellano, Toribio (Cathy) Arellano, Barney "Ardy"(Anita) Arellano, Mary Arellano Griego, Eric (Cathy) Arellano, Ruben Arellano, Evelyn (Felix) Torres- 16 grandchildren- four great-grandchildren- other relatives and friends. Anthony Joseph Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - February 27, 1998 - Anthony Joseph Arellano, 73, of Pueblo passed away on Feb. 23, 1998. Born on March 27, 1924, in Bear Creek, Colo. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Arellano- daughters, Carol Allen, Marlene and Gracie Arellano- and parents, Lizardo and Maria Arellano. Survived by sons, James (Ann) Arellano of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Carl Arellano of Bakersfield, Calif., Anthony (Charlene) Arellano and Timothy Arellano, both of Pueblo, Jess (Carmen) Arellano and Gary (Denise) Arellano, both of Denver- daughters, Mary Jane (John) Zuelzke of San Diego, Calif., Eva (Brig) Farley of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Laurie (Bill) Chance of San Antonio, Texas- brothers, Max Arellano of Pueblo and Ramon Arellano of Denver- and sister, Dorothy (Eddie) Lucero of Pueblo. Also survived by Rachael and little Anthony Soto, 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. No viewing. Cremation has taken place. Avades B. Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - June 26, 2005 - Avades B. Arellano, 78, born in Garcia, Colo., passed away peacefully in his home, June 24, 2005. Preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Arellano; granddaughter, Shawna Arellano; his brothers, Manuel Arellano, Martin Arellano, Fidel Arellano; and sisters, Eutemia Pacheco, Alice Santistevan, and Armanda Armijo. Survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Pauline Arellano; his daughter, Wilma (Mark) Brown of Sarasota, Fla.; and sons, John G. (Eve) Arellano of Pueblo, Jose Santistevan of Pueblo, Bernie (Debbie) Arellano of Thornton, Colo.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Avades, a longtime resident of Pueblo, loved his town, retired from the City of Pueblo after 35 years. He loved, first and foremost, his family, enjoyed working in his yard and home as well as the outdoors, fishing and camping and trips to Cripple Creek. The King of the Wild Frontier will be missed and will remain forever in our hearts. Rosary recitation, 6 p.m. Sunday, and funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Monday, both services at Holy Family Church. Arellano, Barbara
Barbara Martinez Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - May 25, 2005 - Barbara Martinez Arellano, 72. Our Precious Barbara Martinez Arellano went home to the heavens, to be with her Jesus and her beautiful Lady Mary on May 23, 2005. Barbara, born a 3-pound baby on a sunny day, July 17, 1932, in the heart of the San Luis Valley in Center, Colo. She was supposed to be short-lived due to being born prematurely. Her crib was a shoe box, her blankets were cotton balls. Her incubator, an oven door from a wood stove. Preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Roberta Martinez; her brothers, "Junior" Martinez and Ramos Martinez. Barbara was educated and worked the fields of the San Luis Valley. She lived with the Sisters of Charity in Del Norte, Colo., to do nursing training. She became a physical therapist as a nurse for Dr. Stanley Suckle. Barbara was a devoted and dedicated wife, mother, nana and great-nana. She leaves the loves of her life, her loving husband of 54 years, Fred; her only beautiful daughter, Fredricka (Emery) Trujillo; her only sunshine son, Dale (Evelyn Cordova) Arellano; her precious granddaughters, Melissa (Randy) Trujillo-Sandoval, Valerie Trujillo (Christopher Perez), Amy (Nicholas) Trujillo-Rodriguez; grandson, Dominic Abeyta-Arellano, the apple of her eyes; her great-grandsons, Tre and Rodny Trujillo-Rodriguez, who were her little "pansitas"; her extended family, many friends; her brothers, Claude Martinez, Alfonso Martinez; sister, Virginia Vigil. Barbara, a dedicated Catholic, became one of the first lay-women to attend the Abbey as a Christian service representative through the Diocese of Pueblo from St. Francis Parish. She was a member of our Lady of Guadalupe, Cursillo in Christianity, dedicated member of Mariachi de Pueblo for 35 years. Member of St. Francis and Mount Carmel parishes. She always will be remembered for her caring, kind and generous ways, her sense of humor, her hospitality and a storyteller. Member of VFW Post 61, and a volunteer at Parkview Hospital as a Eucharistic Minister bringing her love, joy and prayers to all who were sick. Remember me when flowers bloom Early in the spring. David Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - January 04, 2001 - David Arellano, 73, of Pueblo. Went home to be with the Lord Jan. 2, 2001. Born March 25, 1927, in Pueblo, Colo. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Arellano; son, Raymond Arellano; parents, Felipe and Eluteria Arellano; brother, John Arellano; and sister, Margaret Aguirre. Survived by sons, Jimmie Arellano, Genero (Judie) Arellano, Ronnie (Genie) Arellano, all of Pueblo, and Gilbert Arellano, of Canon City; daughters, Margie (Billy) Aragon of San Diego, Calif., Viola (Edward) Baca and Pauline Bojorquez, all of Pueblo; brothers, Charles (Beatrice) Arellano, Steve (Vickie) Arellano, all of Pueblo, Jose Arellano and Louis (MaryAnn) Arellano of Denver; sisters, Lupe Ramirez of Pueblo and Mary (Tim) Ramirez of Denver. Also survived by 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. David loved to talk about Jesus for many hours. He also enjoyed his grandchildren and enjoyed sports. He retired from CF&I after 42 years of service. Special thanks to Dialysis Unit, for their help and support. David Joe Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - December 10, 2006 - David Joe Arellano, 70, of Pueblo, passed away Dec. 8, 2006. Born in Garcia, Colo. on Feb. 15, 1936. Preceded in death by his father, Manuel Arellano; mother, Rose Arellano; sisters, Rosalie Gonzales (Vidal) and Jennie Gallegos (Mora N.M.); and brothers, Manuel Arellano, Adelmo Arellano and Joe Romero. He is survived by his nephews, Gabriel Gonzales and Jonathan Arellano; nieces, Valerie Arellano and Shelia Hernandez; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. No services, cremation has taken place.

Elizabeth Arellano - Huerfano World - October 29, 1992 - Funeral mass for Elizabeth Vigil Arellano, 44, of Westminster, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday (today) from J.M. Antle Funeral Home in Walsenburg. Mrs. Arellano died Oct. 24, 1992, in Hospice of St. Johns in Lakewood. Born Oct. 14, 1948, she attended Walsenburg schools. Survivors include her husband, Charles, Westminster; a daughter, Denise and two sons, Charles and Robert, Westminster; her parents, Ernest and Virginia Gonzales Vigil, Walsenburg; a brother, Ernest, Arvada and a sister, Chris Mase, Lakewood. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery in Walsenburg.

Emilio G. Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - June 19, 1987 - Emilio G. Arellano, 70, late of Basgal Rd., in Boone, diet June 17, 1987. Survived by wife, Sadie Arellano; children, Amy 1 (Leroy) Trujillo, Len (Priscilla) Arellano, Anna (Felix) Gonzales, Lou (Elizabeth) Arellano and Larry Arellano, all of Utah; Bea Santillanez of Nevada, Ida (Richard) Ebel of Pueblo; adopted children, Danny Acosta, Washington, and Cathy Rodriquez, Denver. A brother of Willie Santistevan and Roger Santistevan, both of Pueblo, Tino Santistevan of Denver; Dora Santistevan of Utah and Jennie Santistevan of California. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by brothers, Levi Santistevan, Demeterio Santistevan and Gus Santistevan; sister, Ernestine Barela; parents, Almindro and Amadita Santistevan. Mr. Arellano retired from Pueblo Depot Activity in 1976 with 25 years of service. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Prayer Group in Avondale. Estrella Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - April 21, 1999 - Estrella Arellano, 88, of Pueblo, went home to be with the Lord on April 19, 1999. Born July 26, 1910, in Costilla, N.M. Preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Lucia Santistevan- two brothers, Paul Santistevan and Clodoveo Clor Santistevan- also preceded in death by three sisters, Eufemia Arellano, Bertila Alires and Julia Jaramillo. Survived by former spouse, Valdemar Arellano of Pueblo- sons, Narcisco "Nick" (Ella Mae) Arellano, Pueblo, Ricardo "Alex" (Ida M.) Arellano, Pueblo, Reuben (Carol) Arellano, Pueblo, and Jose "Dickie" (Joan) Arellano, Riverside, Calif.- sister, Anne Sandoval, Price, Utah- 10 grandchildren- 24 great-grandchildren- and four great-great-grandchildren- sisters-in-law, Emma (Fred) Roybal, Casper, Wyo., Tive (Ted) Sanchez, Pueblo, and Edith Santistevan, Douglas, Wyo. "Max," as he was known to family and friends, was born May 29, 1914, in Arroyo Hondo, Huerfano County. He retired from CF&I Maintenance Dept. He enjoyed gardening and Spanish music. He played the harmonica. Preceded in death by his parents, Lizardo and Marie (Montoya) Arellano; first wife, Josephine Arellano; son, Robert Arellano; and granddaughter, Lorrie Ann Tenorio. Mr. Arellano leaves to cherish his memory wife, Rosalie Arellano; children, Frances (Sipriano) Tenorio, Viola (Eugene) Martinez, Inez (Andrew) Valdez and Charles Arellano; siblings, Dorothy (Ed) Lucero and Raymond (Valerie) Arellano; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, Kenneth Salinas; and five godchildren, Jacob Icabone, Pamela Velasquez, Nicole Abeyta, Robin Tenorio and Cheryl Huggins. Frances Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - February 18, 2002 - Passed away Feb. 15, 2002. Born in Taos, N.M., on Jan. 29, 1930. Preceded in death by her mother, Maria W. Martinez; and sister, Dolores Valerio. Survived by husband, Jose O. Arellano; children, Anna Marie Jiron, Magdeline (Lee) Flores, Phillip (Juanita), John (Debbie), Joseph and Robert Arellano, Margaret (Adolph) Torres; and brother, Jose C. Martinez; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Rosary, 7 p.m. Tuesday, and memorial Mass, 10 a.m. Wednesday, both services at St. Leander Church.

Gloria Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - April 22, 2006 - Gloria Arellano, 71, of Pueblo, went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2006. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Dorrance; and parents, Aurelio and Adeline Trujillo. She is survived by her children, Donna (Richard) DeHerrera, Gloria (Guillermo) Encarnacion, Dale Dorrance, Maurice Dorrance and Allan Dorrance; and grandchildren, Beth, Chris, Vanessa, Sierra and Christopher. Cremation has taken place.

Helen M. Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - October 17, 2003 - Helen M. Arellano , 67, born November 26, 1935 in Watrous, New Mexico, departed this world to be with our Lord on Oct. 15, 2003. She is survived by her loving daughter, Elizabeth Arellano of Albuquerque, NM, and her loving son, Andrew Arellano of Pueblo. She is also survived by grandchildren, Richard (Heidi) Reyes of Pueblo, Daniel (Janna) Reyes, Denean (Randy) Pacheco, Fernando Pacheco, all of Albuquerque, and Angela Arellano of Pueblo, six great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, several nieces, nephews and other loving family members. Helen was a diligent contributor of time and effort to charity causes, most recently with the Pueblo Soup Kitchen. Joe Arellano - Rocky Mountain News - June 19, 1993 - Joe Arellano, 70, of Denver died June 2 in North Suburban Medical Center. Services were June 4 in Olinger Mortuary, Highland. Burial was in Highland Cemetery. Mr. Arellano was born in Walsenburg. He was a truck driver for Cudahy Bar S Foods for 33 years. Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Leyba of Aurora and Lynnette Dunn of Parker; one son, Isaac, of Sarasota, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

Joe Rubio “Duke” Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - April 22, 2006 - Joe Rubio “Duke” Arellano, 1/22/1937- 4/18/2006. Battle with cancer is now over. Formerly of Pueblo. Survived by loving wife Angie, son Matt, daughter Tammy (John), one grandson Alex "Little Comps," Las Vegas, Nev. Also survived and sadly missed by the Arellano, Garcia, Rueda and Quintana families. Services will be on April 24, 2006 at the Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas, Nev. A mass will be offered for him on Sat., April 29, 2006, 4:30pm at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Pueblo.

Joey Anthony Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - October 03, 2005 - Joey Anthony Arellano, 33, of Pueblo, went to be with the Lord Sept. 29, 2005. Joey is survived by his loving wife, Eileen; their three beautiful children, Eddie, Angelina, and Anthony. Joey is the only child of Barney “Ardy” (Anita) Arellano, and Mary Ann Arellano. Joey is also survived by his grandparents, Bertina Arellano, and Mary Elsie (Manuel) Aguilar, also numerous family and friends. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Beginnings Church.

Jose Vidal Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - September 22, 1997 - Jose Vidal Arellano, 78, passed away Sept. 19, 1997, at Belmont Lodge. Born on April 12, 1919, in Costilla, N.M. He retired from St. Mary-Corwin Hospital housekeeping department. Preceded in death by his parents, Jose M. and Josephine (Gonzales) Arellano- his wife, Mary Martinez Arellano. Survived by his children, David, Floyd, Patrick, Robert, Dennis, Jose Jr., Tomas and Tim Arellano, Anita Widner, Virginia Frazier- three sisters, Lucy Gallegos, Lilly Arellano, Natty Lucero- a brother, Alex Arellano- 31 grandchildren- other relatives and friends. Julia Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - March 17, 2005 - Julia Arellano, 9, of Pueblo, Colo., passed away unexpectedly on March 14, 2005. She was born June 3, 1995, in Pueblo. Survived by her parents, Ruben and Tina Arellano; brothers, Tommy Gurule and Christopher Arellano; sister, Rachel Arellano; grandparents, Bertina Arellano, Denise and Toby Gurule and Dave Allen; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Preceded in death by grandfather, Alfredo R. Arellano; cousins, Rosie Arellano and Felipe Arellano. Julia was a student at Belmont Elementary. She loved other children, and in return she was deeply loved by her entire family. Julia was known for her sense of humor and her bright red hair. She is going to be deeply missed. A memorial fund has been established at the U.S. Bank in Belmont in Julia's memory. Visitation will be held from, 3 to 8 p.m. today, March 17, at Roselawn Funeral Home. Preceded in death by his father, Eliberto Arellano; one brother, Alonzo Arellano; and by all his grandparents. Survived by sons, Duane Arellano, Avondale, and Justin Arellano, Pueblo; daughters, Justine, Desiree and Erica Arellano, all of Pueblo; mother, Clara Algien, Denver; brothers, Ruben (Maria) Arellano, Dennis Arellano and Allen (Tabatha) Nees, all of Denver, Robert (Katrina) Nees, Pueblo, and Darick (Shelly) Nees, Pueblo; and sisters, Berta (Charlie) Sanchez, Pueblo, and Valerie Arellano, Denver. She was loved by everyone who touched her life, loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and especially loved to be in church spending time with the Lord. Reuben C. Arellano – Pueblo Chieftain – September 17, 2006 - Reuben C. Arellano, 72, of Pueblo, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 14, 2006, after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Valdemar Arellano and Estrella S. Arellano. Reuben is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Caroline Arellano; children, Raymond C. (Esther K.) Arellano, Richard C. (Victoria) Arellano and Gloria (Ramon) Gutierrez; brothers, Narciso (Ella Mae) Arellano, Ricardo A. (Ida) Arellano and Jose "Dickie" (JoAnn) Arellano; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer) Aguirre, Ariana and Avery, Ray (Angel) Arellano, Justine and Michiela, Rich (Nicole) Arellano, Jacobi and Summerly, and Aaron Gutierrez; uncle, Ted Sanchez; brothers and sisters-in-law, Juanita (Max) Lopez, Santiago "Sandy" (Rosalie) Aragon, Susie (Pat) McCormick, Francisco (Mary) Aragon, Clem (Anita) Aragon, Rhoda Aragon (Leon, deceased); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Reuben worked for 20 years as a supervisor in Quality Control, Rail Mill at CF&I Steel Co., and 24 years with Grove Drug Stores. He retired from CF&I 10 years ago. Reuben was an avid golfer and won many trophies in his early years of golf, and served as Secretary and President of the Men's Club. He dearly loved going to his office (the golf course) and playing golf with his friends "figuring out the bets." He was recently awarded a "Legends of Golf" award from his friends at the course. He enjoyed bowling and recently was awarded a plaque for 25 years of participating in the National Bowling Congress. He loved trips to the "mountain" with Frank and Mary Aragon, and he loved visiting with family and friends. Viewing 1 to 3 p.m. today, Romero Chapel. Vigil service, 7 p.m., Monday and memorial Mass 10 a.m., Tuesday, both at St. Mary Church, 307 E. Mesa Avenue. Roger Lawrence Arellano Jr. - Pueblo Chieftain - January 29, 2003 - Roger Lawrence Arellano Jr., 53, lost his battle with cancer Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003. Born Oct. 18, 1949, in Antonito, Colo. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action, Sept. 15, 1969, in the Republic of Vietnam. He also received the National Service Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharp Shooters Badge and the Combat Infantry Badge. Preceded in death by his father, Roger Arellano Sr.; and brother, Gerald A. Arellano. Sadie Arellano - Pueblo Chieftain - December 05, 1997 - Sadie Arellano, 78, our beloved mother was returned to Heaven and to the open arms of her husband, Emilio, on Dec. 3, 1997. Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend will forever be in our hearts. Our Sadie had many accomplishments in her life. She brought into her home more than 100 foster children and showed them the same love and nurturing she showed her own children. She was a member of St. Marguerites Catholic Church in Tooele. Sadie had a very strong belief in God and lived a very fulfilling life. She enjoyed camping and fishing trips with her family, reading her Bible and activities with her family. She raised her family in Boone, Colo., and will be returned there to be buried alongside her husband. She was the mother of seven children, Amy (Joe) Trujillo, Bea Santillanez, Emilio Jr. (Priscilla) Arellano, Ida (Richard) Ebel, Anna (Felix) Gonzales, Lou (Liz) Arellano and Larry (JoAnn Guerra) Arellano- and adopted children, Daniel Acosta, Priscilla Gomez and Kathy Rodriquiz. Sadie will be greatly missed by 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She is also survived by two sisters, Lily (Henry) Armijo and Mary Barela, and one brother, Luis DeHerrera. Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at Sacred Heart Church in Avondale, Colo., at 10 a.m. with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. today, Dec. 5. Interment, St. Vrain Cemetery. He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Jesus Montez; his stepbrother, Rudy Montez; and his grandmother, Sedellia Arellano. Survived by his wife, Ruth "Jeanie" Arellano; mother, Dara Arellano, Pueblo; daughters, Deborah Powers and Lynette Arellano, both of Pueblo; stepsons, Charles Lawrence, Thomas Lawrence and Mark Lawrence; sister, Susie (Lucas) Martinez, Espanola, N.M.; stepbrother, Bobby (Margie) Montez, Pueblo. Also survived by several grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mr. Arellano served in the United States Air Force and retired from the Pueblo Ordinance Depot. He was a life member of American Legion, San Isabel Post No. 2, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Post 163, and was very active with the Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team.
