Emily K. Allee - Pueblo Chieftain - August 02, 1999 - Emily K. Allee, 79, of Pueblo, Passed away July 31, 1999. Preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Allee, on June 22, 1987. She is survived by her children, Kathleen (David) Hunt-Harding and Woods (Rita) Allee. Also survived by grandchildren, Andrew Hunt, Dustin Allee, Justin Hunt and Jamie Allee. Mrs. Allee graduated from Hannibal La Grange College in Missouri in business. She worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 21 years, retiring in 1979. She also worked for the Naval Department during World War II and was a member of First United Methodist Church and sorority Beta Sigma hi. Viewing, Tuesday, 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral service, Wednesday, 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery. Valerie Jean Allee - Pueblo Chieftain - July 16, 1998 - Valerie Jean Allee, 29, passed away July 12, 1998, as a result of an automobile accident. She was predeceased by her mother, Alice Allee- grandparents, Bert and Jo Allee and Alva Robinson- and uncle, Morton Robinson. Survived by father, David (Joyce) Allee- grandmother, Ernestine Robinson- uncles, Alva Gene Robinson, Bob (Mary Jane) Allee, Charles (Marie) Allee and Tom (Ann) Allee- lifelong friend, Lisa Telfer- and numerous cousins, other relatives and friends. Valerie was a member of the Pueblo Calf Roping Club and a former member of 4-H Club. She loved horses and rode all her life. She also worked several years as a security officer. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m. today, Our Lady of the Meadows. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens.

Allen, Albert Arthur Jr.
Albert Arthur Allen Jr. - Pueblo Chieftain - February 11, 2004 - Albert Arthur Allen Jr., 79, passed away Feb. 9, 2004. Survived by his wife, Geraldine Allen; three daughters; one brother; and five grandchildren. Albert was born Oct. 24, 1924, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He served his country in the U.S. Marines during WWII and was a controller for The Pueblo Chieftain. As per his request, there will be no viewing. Burial will take place at a later date in Iowa.
Allen, Audrey
Audrey Allen - Pueblo Chieftain - September 07, 2004 - Audrey Allen, of Pueblo, passed on Sept. 5, 2004. She was born on June 9, 1919, at the family home on 40th Lane and lived in the area most of her life. Audrey worked in the family business, Cooper Livestock, at Pueblo Ordinance Depot and as head secretary for the CSU Extension Office. She was active in both church and community organizations. Audrey was especially proud of her membership with PEO Chapter DU. She is survived by husband, F. R. (Dick) Allen of Pueblo; son, Lowell (Jackie) Custard of Montgomery, Ala.; daughter, Joyce (Rod) Rockwell of Colorado Springs; daughter-in-law, Brenda (Ron) Custard DeLaney; stepdaughter, Nancy (Tom) Bregar of Pueblo; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Audrey is preceded in death by husbands, Lloyd Custard and Gene Keith; son, Jerry Custard; brothers, Dal, Ed, Dick, Dale and Fred Cooper. Audrey will be buried at Mountain View Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at Vineland United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank all her caregivers, with a special thanks to Kristy Butler. Charles H. Allen - Pueblo Chieftain - March 05, 2006 - Charles H. Allen, 88, longtime resident of Pueblo, Colo., passed away Feb. 20, 2006, in Meeker, Okla. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Anne V. (Rupar); one son Charles H. Allen, Jr. and daughter-in-law Mary Jo Allen; grandsons Patrick (Terri) Allen, David (Michelle) Allen and Stephen (Cindy) Jennings; granddaughters Stacy (David) Robertson and Angie Bingham; five great-granddaughters and one great-grandson, sisters-in-law Virginia (Richard) Fellion, Josephine Rupar and Anita Allen; brother-in-law Robert Leasure, and numerous nieces and nephews. At his request, cremation Paylor Funeral Home, Midwest City, Okla. Inurnment at Wellston Cemetery, Wellston, Okla. Longtime member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Pueblo. Services were held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Chandler, Okla., Feb. 24, 2006, where they attended after moving to Chandler, Okla. Dana Lee Allen - Pueblo Chieftain - November 30, 2004 - Dana Lee Allen, 32, a lifelong resident of Canon City, Colo., died Nov. 25, 2004. She was born on Nov. 26, 1972, in Canon City, Colo., to Clint and Dot Allen. Dana graduated from Canon City High School in 1994. She was a very joyful and upbeat person with never a negative side. Dana loved life, being with people, collecting Barbies, going to Cripple Creek and Wal-Mart. She also loved music and singing in the choir in high school. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Starpoint and participated in a coffee group at Wal-Mart. Dana is survived by her parents; sister, Denise (Mike) Kovac, Pueblo, Colo.; brother, Dave (Jackie) Allen, Pueblo, Colo.; nieces and nephews, Mak and Hunter Kovac, Kaleigh, Joseph, Danielle, and Matthew Allen, all of Pueblo, Colo.; grandmother, Alma Allen of Des Moines, N.M.; several aunts and uncles, great-aunts and -uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends and relatives during a visitation held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Holt Family Funeral Home. David L. Dave Allen - Pueblo Chieftain - July 28, 1997 - David L. Dave Allen, 38, passed away unexpectedly July 24, 1997. Born in Denver on March 13, 1959. Survived by his parents, Leonard and Rosemary Allen of Pueblo- sisters, Kathy (Lary) Knox and Barbara Stanifer, both of Pueblo- brothers, Jim Allen, Gardner, Mont., Bob (Kris) Allen, Pueblo, and Joe Allen, Sidney, Neb. Also survived by nieces, Katy and Kelly Allen, Elizabeth and Sarah Stanifer- nephews, Brad and Justin Knox and Ross Allen. Preceded in death by his brother, Edward Brian Allen- and a nephew, Shane Christopher (Allen) Myer. Dave attended Centennial High School and was a roofer for many years. Dave was employed by Mehalovitz Floor Covering. He was a good listener, a good brother, uncle and friend. Dave, you are in our memories forever. There will be no viewing. Diana Lynne Allen - Pueblo Chieftain - June 25, 2006 - Diana Lynne Allen, 46, was born May 22, 1960, and passed away June 20, 2006. She was a lifetime Pueblo resident. Survived by her husband, Warren L. Allen Jr. of the family home; children, Robert Allen and Bryan Allen; siblings, Connie Goodwin, Kay (Ron) Singleton, Billie Jo (Reggie) Garcia, all of Pueblo, and Bill (Trey) Cartmell, of La Junta, Colo.; sisters-in-law, Sharon Allen-Hernandez and Cindy Allen, both of Pueblo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her father, William R. Cartmell and her mother, Betty M. Cartmell. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Earl Allen - Pueblo Chieftain - January 17, 2000 - Earl Allen, 63, passed away Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000. Survived by his wife, Beth of the family home in Pueblo West; mother, Luzetta Graner, Colorado Springs; children, Debra Ball, Castle Rock, Casey (Susie) Allen, Washington state, Lonnie (Teri) Allen, Pueblo West; and his sister, Elanor Johnson. Also survived by his grandchildren, Larissa Ball, Nikki Jo Allen, Dalton Allen, Jason, Amanda and Cassie Allen. Born, July 28, 1936, in Trinidad and had been a Pueblo West resident for nine years. He was the owner and operator of the Earl Allen Excavating Co. Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Heritage Baptist Church, 2122 Overton Road, with Pastor Gordon Rogers officiating (take College Road [Hwy 47] to Jerry Murphy Road. Shorty is survived by her loving husband of 62 plus years, Laurence Allen; children, Bill (Dottie) Allen, Betty Talley; granddaughter, Salina (Seth) Barnes; great-granddaughter, Adrianna; also survived by numerous other relatives. Frank R. Allen - Pueblo Chieftain - December 10, 2006 - Frank R. "Dick" Allen, 84, born Nov. 15, 1922, oldest child of Ralph and Helen Allen, Vineland, Colo., passed away on Dec. 6, 2006, at his home. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Nancy (Thomas) Bregar; grandchildren, Thomas A. (Cami) Bregar, Brian (Rebecca) Bregar and Robert Bregar; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Alison and Nathan Bregar. He also is survived by his brother, J. Fred (Evelyn) Allen; and sister, Eleanor (Robert) Courtney; sister-in-law, Alice Allen. He also enjoyed his many nieces and nephews, and also is survived by three adult step-children, Lowell (Jackie) Custard, Joyce (Rod) Rockwell, Brenda (Ron) Delaney; and several grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Fern Allen; son, John Richard Allen; parents, Ralph and Helen Allen; step-mothers, Mildred and Irene Allen; wife, Audrey Custard Allen; and a step-brother, Robert Allen. Mr. Allen attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins and was in Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. During World War II, Mr. Allen served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a pilot/flight instructor. He flew the B-17 and was trained to fly the B-29. He was a cattle feeder and farmer in the Vineland area all of his life. He also was a member of the Vineland United Methodist Church, Charter Member of the Avondale-Vineland Lions Club, Pueblo County Stockmen's Association, Colorado Livestock Association and the Colorado Farm Bureau. He recently retired from the board of directors of Pueblo Bank & Trust, where he was Chairman of the Board. Visitation, 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, T. G. McCarthy Funeral Home. Memorial service, 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, Vineland United Methodist Church, 1587 Lane 36, Vineland, Colo. George Allen - Pueblo Chieftain - December 22, 2001 - George Allen, 71, passed away Dec. 16, 2001. Survived by Nancy, his wife of 51 years; sons, Larry (Lisa Kay) Allen of Oakland, Mich., David (Karen) Allen of Gainesville, Fla., and Timothy (Beverly) Allen of Danbury, Conn.; daughter, Jennifer Allen of Rochester, Mich.; grandchildren, Scott Elsner of Herndon, Va., Andrew Allen of Oakland, Mich., and Cassandra Elsner of Casper, Wyo.; step grandchildren, Kelli and Dawn Tiffin of Gainesville, Fla., and Patrick Thomson of St. Augustine, Fla. Preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Whitlock; daughter, Marcia Jane Allen; and infant twin sons, John and Joseph. George was born Feb. 18, 1930, in Columbus, Ohio. He served in the Korean conflict with the U.S. Navy and also taught for 31 years in the Center Line Michigan schools. At his request, there will be no viewing. Gladys Marie Allen - Pueblo Chieftain - September 19, 2004 - Gladys Marie Allen, 82, of Pueblo, Colo., passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 16, 2004. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 57 years, Melford Allen; four daughters, Linda Genovese, Patricia (Fred) LaSavio, Theresa Allen and Karen Pagano; her grandchildren, Geno (Julie) Genovese, Julie (Bob) Eatmon, Stephanie (Scott) Dalton, Nicolas (Michelle) LaSavio, Zachary LaSavio, Candice and Andrew Pagano; step-grandsons, Justin and Brian Pagano; and great-grandsons, Colton Eatmon, Brody and Jacob LaSavio. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Bob Pagano; her parents; two sisters and one brother. Marie grew up in Boone, Colo., and lived all of her life in Pueblo. She was a loving wife and a devoted mother. Her life was centered on her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a constant strength to her daughters. Viewing from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at the Shrine of St. Therese. Henry E. Allen - Pueblo Chieftain - September 4, 1996 - Henry E. Allen, 84, died Aug. 31 in Pueblo. He was born Nov. 3, 1911, in Wetmore, Colo. To Fred S. Allen and Annie E. Betts. He was a steelworker and retired in 1974 from the steel industry. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Mr. Allen was a lifelong Colorado resident. On July 15, 1934, he married Myrrl G. Hunt in Silver Cliff, Colo. Preceded in death by parents, three brothers, one sister and an infant son. Survived by sons, Loran E. (Betty) Allen and Laurel D. (Bert) Allen; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister in California; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral, 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 1996, Holt Family Chapel of the Gardens, Pastor Thomas Cruikshank and Pastor Bolt officiating. Private family interment at Ula Cemetery, Westcliffe. Allen, 26, a former resident of San Jose, died Saturday in Pueblo, Colo., from injuries suffered when he fell from a scaffold while working as a steeplejack. He had been employed the past year by a Chicago smokestack cleaning firm, and had been in Pueblo a few days. - Allen - In Pueblo, Colo., October 12, 1963, Mr. Jackie C. Leonard W. "Joe" Allen - Pueblo Chieftain - October 04, 2005 - Leonard W. "Joe" Allen, 83, passed away Oct. 1, 2005. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 13, 1922. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; children, Kathy (Lary) Knox, and Jim, Bob, Barb and Joe Allen; grandchildren, Brad (Yvette) Knox, Justin Knox, Katie, Kelly and Ross Allen, Beth and Sarah Stanifer; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Dylan and Ben. Preceded in death by sons, Ed and Dave; and grandchild, Shane. Joe served in the U.S. Navy Pacific Fleet during WWII and was a graduate of Miami University of Ohio. He retired from the brick and tile industry. He loved dogs, the outdoors, riding his bike and limeades. He is remembered for his quick wit and snappy remarks. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial Mass, 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, 11th Street and Grand Avenue, with the Rev. Father Ron Roche as celebrant. Lura Galene Allen - Pueblo Chieftain - April 15, 2001 - Lura Galene Allen, 94, born Dec. 9, 1906, in Fargo, Okla., to Mabel (Ingle) and Leroy Reininger, who preceded her in death, passed away April 12, 2001, at St. Mary-Corwin hospital. Also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond O. Allen; infant daughter; and brother, Elmo Reininger. She is survived by her children, Delores (Bill) Bryan-Miller, Monte (Pat) Allen, J.D. (Kathy) Allen and Terry (Sue) Allen; sister, Nathalie Steed; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Lynn D. Allen Jr. – Albuquerque Journal - May 16, 2006 - Lynn D. Allen Jr., 81, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Wednesday, May 10, 2006. Lynn will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty; sons, Gary Allen and wife, Carlene, and David Allen and wife, Terry; daughters, Judy Ringquist and husband, Steve, and Vicki Allen; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren will also miss their 'Boompa.' He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Maxey. Lynn was born August 23, 1924 in Trinidad, CO. After high school, he started a career with Mountain Bell Telephone Co. in 1942. After several moves and promotions, he moved his family to Albuquerque in 1961. He retired from Mountain Bell in 1982 with 40 years of service. He also served with the Naval Air Corps in World War II from 1942-1946. Lynn loved all sports, especially golf, but most of all he loved his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, and friend to so many, and will be missed by all who knew him. Melford "Mel" Gene Allen - Pueblo Chieftain - September 07, 2005 - Melford "Mel" Gene Allen, 81, joined the love of his life, Marie, on Sept. 4, 2005. He is survived by his four daughters, Linda Genovese, Patricia (Fred) LaSavio, Theresa Allen and Karen Pagano; his grandchildren, Geno (Julie) Genovese, Julie (Bob) Eatmon, Stephanie (Scott) Dalton, Nicholas (Michelle) LaSavio, Zachary LaSavio, Catie Mann, Candice and Andrew Pagano; step-grandsons, Justin and Brian Pagano; great-grandsons, Colton Eatmon, Brody and Jacob LaSavio; three sisters, one brother, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie; his son-in-law, Bob Pagano; four sisters and two brothers. Mel was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, who was a source of love and strength to his family and to his many friends. He liked to fish and enjoyed travelling. He served as an aviation machinist mate in the U.S. Navy, enlisting on July 14, 1941, and retiring on April 1, 1982. Patricia Gay Hopes Allen - Pueblo Chieftain - February 06, 2002 - Age 43, departed this life Jan.30, 2002, in Eagle, Colo. Born Nov. 27, 1958, in Lubbock, Texas, she graduated from Centennial High School in 1977. She worked as an electrician in Eagle, after moving to the Western Slope in order to make a better life for her and her children. She was a very spiritual person; at New Hope Baptist Church, she served on the usher board, sang in the church choir and played an active role wherever she was needed in serving the Lord. While living in Colorado Springs, she was a member of Beacon Light Baptist Church, and served as the youth director and bus driver for the church. She loved young people, and was a mom figure to all children of the church. To her own three children, there was no mom like her; she was an outstanding daughter and sister and grandmother to her family members. Predeceased by her stepfather, Elmer Hopes, in 1994. Roy Maynard Allen - Pueblo Chieftain - June 19, 2004 - Roy Maynard Allen, age 70, passed away June 16, 2004, in Pueblo. Roy was born Oct. 2, 1933, in Wiley, Colo., to Roy H. and Mary (Thomas) Allen, who preceded him in death, as do three brothers and four sisters. He lived his early life in the Wiley and Lamar area before joining the U.S. Navy and serving for his country for nine years. After his service, he moved to Pueblo, where he had lived until his death. Roy is survived by one sister; Ethel Ausmus of Pueblo; special niece and caregiver, Linda (Jim) Natterstad; special nephews, Robert and James Murphy; and brother-in-law, Jay Goodwin. He is also survived by his very special friends, Phyliss and Pedro Bernardo and Ed Bailey; along with many other nieces, nephews and friends. At Roy's request, there will be no viewing or services. Sophie Allen - Pueblo Chieftain - June 26, 2006 - Sophie Allen, died peacefully in her sleep June 23, 2006, at the age of 29. Sophie was the beloved daughter of Roy and Sue Allen, and the treasured sister of Joanne Allen. Sophie volunteered at Pueblo's Cooperative Center and wrote recently for an employee's newsletter: "the people I work with are sweet, caring, thoughtful, hardworking, and Christian people." These same words describe Sophie. Sophie loved animals, especially the family dogs, Henry and Gertrude. At the time of her death, she was training to become a dog groomer. She excelled at the job so much that her family began calling her the "dog whisperer." Sophie also loved playing sports and spending time with family and friends. Sophie was born Feb. 15, 1977, in the United Kingdom. She attended Pueblo schools and graduated from Tall Oaks High School, Bowie, Md. Sophie leaves behind friends and family, here and abroad, who will always remember her fondly. Her best friend and confidant, Sylvia Ortega shared her hopes and dreams for happiness and peace. Sophie was a very special person who touched the lives of all who met her. She will be greatly missed and always remembered. The family wishes to thank all of their friends for helping them through this difficult time. Services for Sophie will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Adrian Comer Funeral Home. Allen – Akron Weekly Pioneer Press – November 23, 1888 – A special from Pueblo says a broken wheel caused the wreck of a dozen freight cars twelve miles north of that city, on the Denver and Rio Grande road last Monday. W. J. Allen, a brakeman, aged 30 (?), is dead under the pile of debris. G. W. Norville, another brakeman, was brought to the hospital dangerously hurt. An unknown tramp stealing a ride is reported to be seriously injured. A temporary track has been built around the wreck.

Wally was noted as being one of the original Sky Marshals. He was an active member of Ascension Episcopal Church, where he taught Sunday school. Z. G. Allen - The Chieftain Daily - August 15, 1875 – The Del Norte Tragedy - Death of Z. G. Allen - Z. G. Allen, deputy of Rio Grande county, who was unintentionally shot by Jack Lewis, a guard at the jail, at an early hour on Monday morning last, in that town, an account of which was given in the Chieftain, died on Tuesday morning about eight o'clock, and was buried on the following day with Masonic honors. The deceased came to Colorado from Iowa in 1860 and shortly afterwards settled in Pueblo. In 1867 he moved to the Upper Huerfano and was elected sheriff of Huerfano County. Having returned to Pueblo, he was in 1869 elected sheriff of this county and reelected in 1871. In 1874 he went to Del Norte where he has since resided and has acted as deputy United States marshal, deputy sheriff and town marshal. No reason has been assigned for his visit to the jail at that extraordinary hour of two o'clock in the morning, and why he failed to answer to the guard's challenge, according to the arrangement made between them, is quite incomprehensible. During Mr. Allen's visit to this city in June while in attendance upon the United States court he was in very low spirits, and it is thought by some that he went to the jail with the purpose of being shot. This however, we are inclined to doubt, as he was a man of cheerful disposition and not likely to be overcome by an attack of low spirits. The deceased was about forty-five years of age and leaves a wife and family who have the sympathy of all who know them. He was at one time one of the most popular men in this locality, and his death will be regretted by many. Trinidad Enterprise – August 20, 1875 – Z. G. The daughter of Elmer Ovid Richardson and Florence Swickard Richardson, she was born March 7, 1915, in Eldorado Springs, Mo. She moved with her family to Pueblo County in 1920. Irene married George Allenbach on Jan. 16, 1932. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Constance Duke. Her survivors include her children, George Allenbach of Boulder, Nona Kay Gillen of Washington, Greg Allenbach of Pueblo, Linda Edwards of Texas; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Allenbach; parents, James Sidney and Mittie Mae Huddleston; brothers, Clarence, Buster and Jack; sisters, Altha and Juanita; and son-in-law, Jimmie R. Olson. Survived by daughter, Phyllis J. Olson, Pueblo; son, Roy G. (Jo Ann) Allenbach, Pueblo; grandsons, Steven R. (Lorraine) Olson, Denver, Conrad and Scott Allenbach; and granddaughter, Vicky (Ron) Wyman, all of California; eight great-grandchildren, Josh and Sarah Olson, Allison and Katie Wyman, Jacob and Nathanel Allenbach, Park and Autumn Allenbach; and several nieces and nephews. After graduating from Holdenville High School, Penny came to Pueblo and enrolled in nurses training at Parkview Hospital and married Roy in 1932. She was a nurse for 55 years, office nurse for Dr. Jesse White at the Pueblo Clinic for 33 years and Dr. Leon Cunningham for 22 years, retiring in 1994. In 1991, she was recognized by the Colorado Nurse's Association for 50 years of service. Penny was fiercely independent, loving life, her family and being a nurse. Irene M. 'Rene' Allison - Herald and News - July 29, 2004 - Klamath Falls, OR - Irene M. "Rene" Allison, 83, a former longtime Klamath Falls resident, died July 20, 2004, at Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Donelson Sewell and Mathews Mortuary, 171 N.E. Third Ave., Hillsboro. A reception will follow there. Twilight services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Eternal Hills Funeral Home in Klamath Falls. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Allison was born Feb. 25, 1921, in Trinidad, Colo., to Wesley and Myrtle (Hardy) Bower. She was the youngest of their six children. She attended school in Trinidad through the eighth grade, and then was self taught through the college level. She married Earl Kenneth Allison on Jan. 29, 1945, in the First Presbyterian Church in Denver. They moved to Oregon from Texas in 1949. While in Klamath Falls, she helped raised sheep on a small acreage and campaigned for her husband as a Klamath County Commissioner candidate. She loved to go beachcombing at Gold Beach, where they lived for awhile. When her husband retired, they spent the winter months in Hemet, Calif. Mrs. Allison was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Klamath Falls for 40 years. She moved in March 2001 to the Portland area to be near her husband after his hospitalization and extended medical care. She was an efficient homemaker and served as an adult leader in the Camp Fire Girls, the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts and as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was an avid reader of mystery novels, a stamp collector, and enjoyed going to garage sales. Survivors include her husband Earl Kenneth Allison of Aloha; sons Leon Allison of Alamogordo, N.M., and Earl Kelly Allison of Klamath Falls; daughters Sharron Herinckx of Hillsboro and Sandra Allison of White Rock, British Columbia, Canada; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mary M. Allison - Pueblo Chieftain - June 13, 2000 - Mary M. Allison, of Lakewood, died June 11, 2000. She was born July 4, 1929, in Belleville, Kan. She is survived by her daughters, Marn Wills-Cuellar, Lakewood, Ann Wills, DVM, Argyle, Texas, and Catherine J. Wills, Pueblo; granddaughter, Allsion Cuellar; and grandson, David Cuellar. Sister of Ann Leach, Colorado Springs, Frances Weaver, Pueblo, and Mildred Divelbiss, Colorado Springs. Services will be Thursday, 4:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 420 N. Nevada Ave., Colorado Springs. Cremation was held. She was a member of the Junior League in Colorado Springs. Contributions to the American Cancer Society. She owned a Bed and Breakfast.

Robert M. Allison - Pueblo Chieftain - April 27, 2005 - Robert M. Allison, 79, passed away April 23, 2005, due to injuries sustained in a fall. Survived by his son, MacGregor S. Allison Sr. of Silverdale, Wash.; foster son, Leonard M. Chavez of Pueblo; sister, Patricia (Paul) Rexrode of Cumberland, Md.; two grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was born to Royden and Bernice Allison on Dec. 6, 1925, in Omaha, Neb. He served in the U.S. Army as a corporal in Company C of the 347th Engineers in the GS Regiment during WWII. Robert retired from South High School after a longtime career as an English teacher. He enjoyed classical music and outdoor activities such as skiing, camping and fishing. He also founded the Trolls Ski Club. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 10 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2005, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with Pastor Conley Henderson officiating and concluding with military honors by the Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team. Interment will be held at the family plot in Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin City, Kan. Those who desire may make memorials to the American Heart Association through the funeral home.

Gordon Allott - Colorado Springs Gazette Telegraph - January 18, 1989 - Former Sen. Gordon Allott Dies - Colorado Native Called “Favorite Elder Statesman.” ENGLEWOOD – Former U. S. Sen. Gordon Allott, a native Coloradoan who served 18 years in the Senate until his defeat in 1972, died of cancer Tuesday at Swedish Medical Center. He was 82. Allott died at 7:22 a.m. Tuesday. Hospital spokeswoman Beverly Jacobsen said Allott was admitted to the hospital Dec. 27 and then transferred to Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital for a time. He returned to Swedish on Monday, Jacobsen said. The funeral was scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Christ Episcopal Church in Denver. Allott, a Republican, held public office for much of his adult life, culminating in his three terms in the U. S. Senate from 1955 to 1973. He was thwarted in his bid for a fourth Senate term by Democrat Floyd Haskell in the 1972 general election. He had made his home in Englewood in recent years. Born in Pueblo on Jan. 2, 1907, Allott graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1927 and from the CU law school in 1929. In 1930, he moved to Lamar, where he practiced law and became Prowers County attorney, serving in that capacity during 1934 and from 1941-46. He also was Lamar city attorney from 1937-41 and director of the First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Lamar from 1934-60. During World War II, Allott was a major in the Army Air Corps. Afterward he served as district attorney of the 15th Judicial District from 1946-48. Allott was Colorado's lieutenant governor from 1951-55, when he also served as vice chairman of the state Board of Parole. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1954 and re-elected in 1960 and 1966. Haskell, a Republican who joined the Democratic Party because of his feelings about the Vietnam War, defeated Allott in his re-election bid for a fourth term in 1972. During his tenure in the Senate, Allott served on the Senate Appropriations Committee and Senate Interior Committee, where he was directly involved in water, resource and Indian affairs. After leaving office, he served on an advisory committee to the Interior Department during the Reagan administration. U.S. Rep. Joel Hefley, R-Colorado Springs, said he was “very saddened” by the news of Allott's death. He described it as a “deep personal loss and a loss to the state of Colorado.” “He rose higher than anyone we've sent to Washington in many years, maybe ever,” Hefley said. “I regarded him as our favorite elder statesman.” Allott was a role model for young politicians, Hefley said, recalling his own days in state government. “Here was a guy of great integrity at a time when I got into politics, at the tail end of Watergate,” he said. “He was a guy who had been down the road in the state Legislature, who had been in congressional office,” Hefley said. “He was not far from the state office when I was in the state Capitol, so it was easy to run over.” Allott came to Hefley's aid during his campaign for the U.S. House. “When my predecessor decided to challenge me a year ago, Gordon Allott – without my asking – contacted me to ask what I can do to help, and that kind of support meant a lot.” U.S. Sen. Bill Armstrong, R-Colo., called Allott “a personal friend and mentor whom I shall greatly miss.” Armstrong said Allott was “one of the most outstanding public servants in the history of Colorado. He was a senator's senator and was enormously respected by his colleagues. In terms of his accomplishments for Colorado, he was a leader of rare distinction. U.S. Rep. Hank Brown, R-Colo., said Allott was “a great public servant. His All-American achievements in athletics were matched by a distinguished career at both state and federal level.” On May 15, 1934, Allott married the former Welda Hall, who survives, along with two sons, Roger of Aurora and Gordon Jr. of Littleton, and three grandchildren.

Roger Alwyn Allott - Pueblo Chieftain - September 28, 1926 - The funeral of Roger Alwyn Allott will take place Thursday afternoon at 2:30 from the George F. McCarthy Funeral home and from the Holy Trinity church at 3 o'clock. The body will lie in state at the George F. McCarthy Funeral chapel from 3 o'clock until 9 p.m. Wednesday evening. Interment in the family plot in Mt. View cemetery.
Allott, Welda
Welda Allott - The Pueblo Chieftain - March 1, 2001 - Welda Allott, Wife of Former Senator, Dies,” by Dennis Darrow - Welda Allott, a Lamar native and the wife of the late U.S. Senator Gordon Allot, died Monday in Denver. She was 92. Mrs. Allot became heavily involved in her hometown's political and civic activities following her marriage to Gordon Allott in 1934. Gordon Allot began working as Prowers County Attorney in Lamar in 1934, then he became the area's district attorney in 1946 and went on to serve in the U.S. Senate from 1955 to 1972. He died in 1989. Mrs. Allot, the former Welda Hall, moved to Lamar at age 4. After high school, she attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., and the University of Wyoming in Laramie. In Lamar, she was active in politics, women's clubs, the Episcopal Church and civic projects, including serving as a volunteer at a state veterans' hospital. She also managed the Lamar community building. She also organized a group to sponsor and finance a traveling children's theater group to make routine visits to Lamar. In Washington D.C., she was a past president of the Republican Congressional Wives Club and she also volunteered as a member of the Senate Ladies Red Cross Unit. Part of her work included compiling a history of the Ladies Red Cross Unit. Mrs. Allot is survived by their two sons, Roger of Aurora and Gordon Jr. of Castle Rock, along with three grandchildren. Richard (Dick) W. Allsup - Pueblo Chieftain - August 08, 2001 - Age 72, of Pueblo passed away Aug. 5, 2001. He is preceded in death by parents William McKinley and Anna Nancy Whitley Allsup, and sister, Evelyn Clarey. Survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Patricia Ann (Whitmore) Allsup; children, Peggy (Mike) Armstrong of Eaton, Colo., Judy (Dan) Strnad of Steamboat Springs, Colo., Shari Allsup of Pueblo and Chester “Mac” (Michelle) Allsup of Loveland, Colo.; grandchildren, Katie, Andrew, Hanna, Gabriella and Tyler; brother, Joseph “J.D.” Allsup of Albuquerque, N.M.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special cousin, Arcel (Corky) Allsup of Truth or Consequences, N.M. Richard is best remembered as a Master Gardener, Master Food Preserver and history buff, who specialized in antiques. He enjoyed his hobbies of crafts, jewelry making, woodworking, traveling, hunting and fishing with his son “Mac.” He graduated from the Colorado State College in 1955, better known today as UNC. In 1956, Richard and his wife Patricia were honored as the first couple to earn their master's degrees together. After entering the cooking division of the Colorado State Fair in 1992, Richard was crowned the Queen of the Kitchen award. Serving in the Korean Conflict prompted Richard to become a lifetime member of the VFW in Truth or Consequences, N.M. He regularly attended Holy Family Catholic Church with his family. After dedicating 34 years to education, he retired from School District 60 as an industrial arts teacher. He was a lifetime member of the National Education Association. His family will treasure his memories as a kind, dedicated father and “Popa” and a man with a great dry sense of humor. Visitation, 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at the funeral home. Recitation of the rosary, 7 p.m. Thursday at T.G. McCarthy Rose Chapel. Funeral Mass, l0 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Imperial Memorial Gardens.
